Waterford is a parliamentary constituency represented in Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Irish parliament or Oireachtas. The constituency elects four deputies (Teachtaí Dála, commonly known as TDs) on the system of proportional representation by means of the single transferable vote (PR-STV).

Boundaries

[edit]

The constituency was created by the Electoral Act 1923 and first used at the 1923 general election to the 4th Dáil, partially replacing the constituency of Waterford–Tipperary East that was used for the previous two elections. The Constituency Review Report 2023 of the Electoral Commission recommended that no change be made at the next general election.[1]

The Electoral (Amendment) Act 2023 defines the constituency as:[2]
