WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011 (often shortened to WWE SvR 2011) is an upcoming professional wrestling video game developed by Yuke's and published by THQ for the PlayStation 2 (PS2), PlayStation 3 (PS3), PlayStation Portable (PSP), Wii and Xbox 360 systems. It will be the twelfth video game in the WWE SmackDown vs. Raw series and will be released on October 26, 2010.[2] The game will be based on the promotion World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), and is named after its two brands (Raw and SmackDown). [3] It was revealed at the Smackdown vs. Raw 2011 Roster Reveal that there will be no demo for the game on Xbox Live and Playstation Network.
Gameplay
One of the main changes in the gameplay for WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011 will be the incorporation of a new dynamic physics system that allow objects to be used more widely, in particular objects involved in the Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match. Tables will now break differently depending on the impact placed upon them. Inside and outside the ring, ladders can now be rested onto the ring ropes and be broken into pieces. For the first time since the original WWE SmackDown! vs. Raw game, chairs can now be thrown at the player's opponents.[2][4]
The Hell in a Cell match will be revamped with expanded cell walls, weapons underneath the ring, steel steps near the poles, and the removal of the cell door. However, new ways to exit the cell are introduced such as barreling through the cage wall.[5]
For the first time since WWE SmackDown! Shut Your Mouth, the player can roam freely around the backstage areas in the game's primary story mode, though the ability to roam during gameplay has not returned to the series. Moves and controls are modified to incorporate new options to perform during and after a move is executed. The strong grapple modifier has been revamped to allow the player to perform more powerful moves on the opponent as the player progresses into the match and wears down the opponent.[6]

In Create A Finisher mode, attributes such as speed and trajectory can be modified by single increments rather than 25% increments. The number of available created finishers are expanded to 130 as well.[9]

The first official announcement for both WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011 and WWE All Stars was made at E3 in June 2010 by THQ, shortly followed by an interview with gaming website GameSpot.[2] A playable demo was featured at E3 featuring Randy Orton, The Undertaker, Chris Jericho and The Miz as playable characters. As noted in a THQ press release, Chris Masters will be a downloadable superstar for the game. [4] It will be the first game in the series since WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007 not to be released on the Nintendo DS.[11]
There are also certain rewards for consumers who pre-order the game.[12] Those who pre-order from Best Buy will receive Bret Hart as a playable character.
