WMRE is the student-operated college radio station of Emory University in the Atlanta metropolitan area. The station broadcasts through its website, the Emory cable system, and a short-range frequency on AM 1660 .

History
WMRE began in 1983 with the call letters WEMO. In 1985, students started work to create a modern radio station, and on January 20, 1989, the Voice of Emory, WMRE, began broadcasting.

At first, WMRE was available to on-campus listeners and was broadcast over the 590AM by a carrier current system throughout the University. Due to neglect and maintenance problems, the cable connection deteriorated, and WMRE began broadcasting on Emory University’s Cable System

On September 30, 1998, WMRE began broadcasting on the Internet through RealAudio and RealVideo .

In February of 2011, the station launched it's short frequency on AM station 1660, though WMRE still primarily relied on its website's audio and video streaming capabilities.
