[edit]Glad to help - I know from the waterfalls poll how helpful votes on images can be. I thought Australian supermodels looked more like this though. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 00:26, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
- Monkey lied to me. He said the women were hot :( —Dark 11:48, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
- Do you know much about the Wisden 100? I can't find the original online and too many weird IP edits especially SRT fans. I've semi'd it until it can be cleaned up. —SpacemanSpiff 01:17, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
- But what about those links?? They worked for me but the all-time ODI rankings have been replaced with fake data. And the results are rubbish YellowMonkey (vote in the Southern Stars and White Ferns supermodel photo poll) 05:57, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
- Weird, I get deadlinks for the Cricinfo bits, and the Rediff ones are from 2001, I have no idea how often this ranking is updated. The SRT fans are beginning to annoy me. —SpacemanSpiff 04:21, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

- Yes, finished cutting up and uploading NSW players as well and most SA :) Still got Vic to go although I messed up almost all of those. YellowMonkey (vote in the Southern Stars and White Ferns supermodel photo poll) 01:47, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
- Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami are now top of the charts for women. Thinking of taking Mithali to GA, will try to ramp it up this weekend. BTW, did you notice the revert of my "SRT is the first to score a double ton in men's ODI"? Sad that cricket in general and WP are so misogynistic and Belinda Clark doesn't get her due. —SpacemanSpiff 02:00, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Can you check if JUGAL70 (talk · contribs) = Chandra15 (talk · contribs) ? The former has been adding a quote farm at Manusmṛti, despite feedback at his and my talk page, and now suddenly at the verge of 3RR the latter account is created and readds the ~20kbytes of quotes.

When the edit first came up on my watchlist I just assumed that it was Abecedare reverting nonsense! Smart socking. —SpacemanSpiff 02:02, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
- Wow! Now I have completely lost track of who's who. Abecedere had me confused too; thought I had clicked rollback inadvertently at first. The worst though was Mayurasia who I assumed was a genuine newbie, and I wasted an hour discussing content and sourcing issues with him before realizing that he was citing works which he had never seen or read. Could have spent that time more productively ... voting in YM's poll - will get to that eventually if these socks spare me some time. ;-) Abecedare (talk) 04:51, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
- Hmmm, I just assumed that you were extending good faith and therefore didn't block earlier on. But this was a bit much, just check the deleted user page and talk page! On another note, if you folks can watch over Ranjitha that would be appreciated. Related to Nithyananda. —SpacemanSpiff 04:56, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Some random comments on the photo poll:
- Those are a ton of photos to shoot, edit/crop, and upload. Hats off!
- How far were you from the players at the net ?
- Bowlers have weird expressions at the time of delivery.
- Half of these players are clearly <14 y.o. and they mark up their age as part of some nefarious plot. Somebody needs to write a wikipedia article to get to the bottom of the conspiracy (which ToI can then plagiarize).
Abecedare (talk) 07:19, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
- From the bowlers, 20 metres, a lot of the others, less than 20 metres as there are construction works going on and no fence, and no security unless you are from an international men's team. The catching photos were from about 5-10 metres away, on average, and some portraits from standing in the walkway. Spaceman, This tool should help find the anonymous edits from that range.
YM, you should have a permanent CU Request section on your page ... or you can just dial back your CU efficiency to match SPI. Cheers. Abecedare (talk) 18:28, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- Update: the tool doesn't seem to work for ranges larger than 115.240.0.0/21. Will need 115.240.0.0/17 to cover all the known sock IP addresses, and 115.240.0.0/12 to cover all the IP's available to the ISP (Reliance comm). Seems infeasible to me. Abecedare (talk) 18:42, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

I never check SPI and probably the regulars don't either. Efficiency of CU service normally depends on the client being a chat buddy of the CU, usually on IRC and gchat. Also, I decided to try a hand at writing female cricket biogs, although without any media coverage, it might have to depend on scorecard mining YellowMonkey (vote in the Southern Stars and White Ferns supermodel photo poll) 01:12, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

[edit]I've copyedited the rest of the Early life section. Could you insert a few dates somewhere? Apart from the mention of 1956-57 in the second paragraph there are no other date indicators. [edit]Too lazy to read. How Smith is our second spinner in ODIs ahead of Doherty is stupid. Watson and Ponting looked good, although I don't think we have enough. Silly how the curator at Bellerive doesn't have a greentop like last year seeing that we need to win every game outright for any chance to be in the final. Especially as it's cooled down here - especially in the morning - so it will be very mild in Hobart so the pitch won't dust up. —Aaroncrick (talk) 04:47, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
- I think Smith is there to be blooded and give hauritz a rest and if there was a need for a serious spin bowler, he might not be there yet. Still nowadays everyone wants a big hitter down to No 10, FC av > 50, and Doherty can't bat. Just checked the profile and didn't know that Doherty had such a poor FC record. Still Smith has the Warney endorsement and is 7 years younger, so they'll probably just skip Doherty, although at teh moment he resembles Tendulkar more than a serious leg spinner, although he doesn't bowl the obligatory full toss/long hop every over. And Clarke should be dropped from T20s and probably ODIs as well when Marsh comes back YellowMonkey (vote in the Southern Stars and White Ferns supermodel photo poll) 01:47, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
- You could convert the Ponting fork to included early career up until 1999 when he was involved in his last pub fight and last dropping from the team if you want YellowMonkey (vote in the Southern Stars and White Ferns supermodel photo poll) 01:47, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

[edit]"I would like to take the article History of logic to FA. I have already sought input from a number of contributors and have cleared up the issues raised (I am sure there are more). I wrote nearly all of the article using different accounts, as follows:
- User:Peter Damian (old)
- User:HistorianofLogic
- User:Logicist
- User:Here today, gone tomorrow
- User:Renamed user 4
I would like to continue this work but I am frustrated by the zealous activity of User:Fram who keeps making significant reverts, and blocking accounts wherever he suspects the work of a 'banned user'. (Fram claims s/he doesn't understand "the people who feel that content is more important than anything else").
Can I please be left in peace with the present account to complete this work. 'History of logic' is a flagship article for Wikipedia, and is an argument against those enemies who claim that nothing serious can ever be accomplished by the project". Logic Historian (talk) 10:05, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

- By the way, sorry I couldn't be of more assistance with the Meckiff article. I thought it was good, sincerely, but people have different tastes for prose. I had a colleague from India explain all the rules to me so the article made much more sense. I did note that Brits tend to use different cricket slang from other places. --Andy Walsh (talk) 04:23, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
- Well, I still intend to take it to FAC again, so copyediting isn't a futile effort although I'm not sure what is ahppening as I dont' appear to have changed my style/technique and I don't think the bar has gone up or anything. Still if you don't want to that's ok and I'm always looking fo rphotography judges; no specific knowledge of cricket required! Personally I think a long-term 0RR restriction (e.g. a year) would be a reasonable outcome here. I would not be against offering Xandar an unblock in exchange for a 0RR restriction. If you don't want to, or if Xandar won't bargain, then I may apply to the community for a 0RR restriction anyhow, once the block expires. Hesperian 04:25, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
- But you don't understand; Xander doesn't listen to reason. Until a block sticks, he's not going to listen, because he's just dying to revert and canvass. I'd say 0RR would work if you can get him to accept it. But even if he does, he'll go right back to edit warring. Then he should get a two-week block, and no one should overturn it. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 04:30, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
- I don't really expect him to ever agree to 0RR, but I thought I would offer it up. He can't claim no one has tried working with him to reform his behavior. --Andy Walsh (talk) 04:37, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
- Well, it's easy to POV push on Wikipedia, especially religion and ethnic stuff, per the topic right above. But given all the protest at the RFC and all that I don't know why people don't just go to ANI and try and get 75% support for a community ban or anything. The arbcom never bothered either way about Badagnani (talk · contribs) who nobody claimed was a SPA or anything, just a very grumpy person who thinks that all sources and info is good and calls any other opinion as POINT. They just go along with the majority, mostly.... and the majority in this case is more powerful, it's not 100 non-admins or powerless admins against 3 warlords or anything YellowMonkey (vote in the Southern Stars and White Ferns supermodel photo poll) 05:34, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

Healy
[edit]Did you ignore my email? :( You don't have to answer, if you'd prefer not to. How come you chose Healy, obscure choice and info would be scarce so well done. Baily's in the squad! :) Hopefully we can get two Launnie boys in the team. He's came from a more affluent and less bogan area than Ponting. —Aaroncrick (talk) 08:48, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
- I'll answer, I saw it. It's pretty obvious, only one guy calls me "notorious". I just thought Healy was the easiest to do, short number of games and only bats mostly (only been a full-time keeper for one year) so now bowling averages or economy to add up. I haven't found any info on playing style, so there you go. Just the stats and scorecard mining, apart from a few bits about the girl in the boy's team thing. Can't find a print source saying she would study molecular biology at uni, per the cricket show segment. The batting only players seem straightforward (blackwell, poulton, ebsary, haynes), as the rationale for selection is obvious when no analytical news pieces are available. Most good sportspeople are from working-class or country areas, Thorpe, Waugh brothers, Bob Simpson, Lydia Lassila (from Sunshine) were all westies although the annoying "proud Westie" Clarke with his deliberate "working-class" accent it also there. Hopefully he doesn't come back, he's more interested in being the new Beckham and Katich should have wacked him last year.... No way should he be captain.... just skip him in 3-4 years when Ponting retires to anyone, Khawaja or Henriques if they make it. - Lol, Clarke's as annoying as Bingle; he's a good Test batsman though. I wouldn't have a clue who called you "notorious", haven't been around for five years like some :) Yeah, but Tasmania is the countries poorest state and Launceston is more derelict than Hobart, so the East Tamar is basically Footscray on a smaller scale and we have horrible cricket facilities. The NTCA Ground is the main ground and oval don't get looked after in summer even though we don't have water restrictions so they become dirt. —Aaroncrick (talk) 09:12, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
- I would have thought Tasmania had better soil/climate for farming etc than everywhere else with the desert. Could increase the population 10X although the greens wouldn't like that. - What a complete heap of absolute crap about potential population for tassie - all sensible tasmanians live in Melbourne - there are never the jobs for the young or the well educated they all have to go to the mainland - it has been a quarry or one sort or other for most of its existence - soil climate is fine for low level agriculture, for poppies. Remind me to mail bomb you with some stats about how you are wrong and it has nothing to do with the greens - its the entrenched political establishment who have a stranglehold on the state - in other words take care what you pass off like that! cheers SatuSuro 04:33, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

- Tasmania is as well. South Australia are hopeless and will get smashed in the Champions League. —Aaroncrick (talk) 02:11, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, it sucks that the Big Bash was played with all the good players away and NSW didn't get in. Pity the CL will be without the best team; they should do a quick fix and give NSW a wildcard. Plus, if Mumbai come in the top three and qualify for the CL then K Pollard would definitely choose Mumbai I think (which they very well might not given SRT's hopeless leadership), as SA would have no hope of getting anywhere. I wonder if Tait will go to RR if they get in. Half of SA isn't FC standard let alone being borderline international that you need for CL YellowMonkey (vote in the Southern Stars and White Ferns supermodel photo poll) 02:22, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

- Well they could make Tas a "New Economic Zone" and have lower taxes there but in a western democracy, the federal govt giving tax breaks to specific areas isn't going to be allowed. But in 1998 they said that SA's population would dwindle to 900k by the middle of this century, what a load of nonsense YellowMonkey (vote in the Southern Stars and White Ferns supermodel photo poll) 01:35, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
- Our population is meant to get to 550k and then drop... only in Tasmania ... —Aaroncrick (talk) 08:23, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Got some quick comments on the lead here. I didn't want to fix these myself as I would be better off running them past you. —Aaroncrick (talk) 02:32, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
- Done, be bolder....Are you signing up for the review. Well the article seems to be a novelty judging by the pageview increasing by a factor of 10+ YellowMonkey (vote in the Southern Stars and White Ferns supermodel photo poll) 03:44, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
- Nah, someone else can do it. Server lag of about 6,000 seconds so I've just got this comment. —Aaroncrick (talk) 06:21, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
