Mark Thompson

[edit]

This is the problem - you have provided no sources that the visit was "controversial", you need a reliable 3rd party source that says that the visit was a matter of controversy - you cannot make that judgement yourself. --Cameron Scott (talk) 16:08, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what point you are trying to make on the Mark Thompson article, but you really need to spell it out and, much more importantly, cite it. I'm sure Thompson has visited many places in his professional capacity. Any attempt to make this one particularly significant, without cites explaining why, looks like original synthesis on your part. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 16:24, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You said; "its a highly significant fact that he was the first ever director general to pay such a visit, which you would see if you read the article. this in itself is reason for citing the article from The Indpendent newspaper" Why is a significant fact? And significant to who? If you think it is relevant (and you'd probably need more than just the one cite to show this) then you should create a "Relations with Israel" section, or similar. It is not significant enough an event in his career (unless, of course, you have a cite explaining why it is).
The problem is that it looks very much like you are implying there is a connection between this visit and more recent events. Unless you have a reliable source making the connection then you are performing original synthesis. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 16:36, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --Avant-garde a clue-hexaChord2 16:28, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
