Toolserver Edit Counter Timeouts
I use your Toolserver Edit Counter two or three times a week, usually to asses a colleague's experience on Commons. As you know, it times out after sixty seconds -- seems to be around 10,000 edits counted -- ostensibly to save resources. I think this actually counter-productive. Since I need the information, I simply hit "refresh" and it tries again. It sometimes take three or four tries, but finally will come up with the data. I would use fewer resources if the timeout were set higher or, perhaps, eliminated.
One might say that I am abusing the system by hitting refresh, but if the subject is applying to be an Administrator on Commons, knowing the detail of his or her contributions is certainly important to the community. . . Jim - Jameslwoodward (talk to me • contribs) 12:11, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Here on en.wikipedia, we have a practice of copying and pasting the results of the report onto the talk page of the RfA, with the intention of users using that rather than regenerating the report over and over. - Kingpin13 (talk) 12:15, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
- Perhaps you misunderstand me -- I think that the report is only accessed once for each RfA on Commons, as I do much the same there as you describe for WP:EN -- the problem is that it sometimes requires four or five tries to get the report at all. . . SoxBot edit warring with itself
SoxBot seems to have got its knickers in a twist regarding whether File:Circumcised penis labelled.jpg is on the bad image list or not - edit history. Thryduulf (talk) 00:16, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
- For an even more epic battle, see the history of File:Foot Amputation.JPG. Now featured at WP:LAME#Bot vs bot. Thryduulf (talk) 00:31, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
- I've now fully protected both file pages for the sanity of the revision history. When you've fixed the bug feel free to unprotect or request their unprotection. Thryduulf (talk) 09:14, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
- I suspect the cause is that on MediaWiki:Bad image list it is listed as File:Circumcised_penis_labelled.jpg instead of File:Circumcised penis labelled.jpg (low lines instead of spaces). I'm going to request on MediaWiki talk:Bad image list#File:Circumcised_penis_labelled.jpg that this be changed. Even if I'm right, this is still something that should be fixed about SoxBot. 68.9.94.136 (talk) 22:07, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
EditCounterGlobalOptIn.js
Hi,
I note that your edit counter's test of EditCounterGlobalOptIn.js does not actually check if that meta account really is the same account that is queried, in non-SUL scenarios. Not sure how secure that needs to be of course.

X!'s Edit Counter error message / character incompatibility
Hello. I just noticed X!'s Edit Counter doesn't recognize my user name anymore. It used to work, but now, when clicking on the corresponding link or entering the user name manually, the following error message appears:
" οἶστρος does not exist."
Please, please, pretty please with sugar on top, fix this, as I think X!'s Edit Counter is a great tool, and I would like to continue using it. Thanks – ὁ οἶστρος (talk) 14:49, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

EditCounterOptIn.js - opt out
Howdy, how does one opt out? (if any talkpage stalkers have an answer I'd love to have your opinion on the matter as well). - Haymaker (talk) 08:59, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
- Since the opt-in is controlled merely by the existence of User:Haymaker/EditCounterOptIn.js (the content of that page being immaterial), opt-out requires the absence of the page - therefore it must be deleted. Since the page is on English Wikipedia (unlike my own, which is on meta), all you need do is add a
{{db-userreq}}
at the top and an admin will speedy-delete it. --Redrose64 (talk) 11:10, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
