On the contrary, this is a popular and influential group. They've got a real cult following on the East Coast -- it's a shame you haven't heard of them. They are an established band with deep roots, and certainly deserve this (quite modest) Wiki entry. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.145.67.248 (talk) 16:05, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Belair-Edison response from User:Sebwite

[edit]

Hey, I know you are a frequent editor to article in the Baltimore area, I was wondering if I could get your opinion on the changes User:AirmanJeff has made to this page. I am ready to revert the page back to your edit due to the number of changes he has made, specifically attack former Mayor Schmoke and other business leaders. Just wanted your $.02 before to make sure I wasn't missing something here. Wildthing61476 (talk) 15:01, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was not familiar with this story when it occurred, though I have looked it over, and given that there are references, the only phrase I see a problem with is "The Mayor should not be held solely at fault however." This is mostly a writing style issue. I don't see a problem with writing about the issue. There is a small section of it that should be rewritten at a neutral point of view.

To be honest, I voted for Schmoke in 2 out of the 3 times he ran, and was not happy with his performance, but my judgment here is based purely on Wikipedia guidelines. I do not view this as an attack, but rather a sourced set of statements that needs neutrality improvement.Sebwite (talk) 16:11, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Eh dont worry bout it

[edit]

I know during RC patrol its all about timing and you fixed it up straight away, i have made the same mistake many times, as long as you fixed it thats all that matters. Keep it up! Roadrunnerz45 (talk 2 me) 12:09, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mentoring

[edit]

I think it would be a good experience for me to be mentored by someone who knows several policies here. So I thank you for offer; I would like to except it.

Thanks for the heads-up about the IP. I'm a little concerned about this report in general.. Even assuming the IP is acting in bad faith, the edit that ChrisP2K5 keeps adding appears to me to be entirely unsourced speculation, possibly even pure WP:OR. And yet, Jayron32, whom I hold in high esteem, reverted the edit back in. Am I missing something? I told ChrisP2K5 that, regardless of the IP's motives, he probably should not add the statement back in without a source. Am I missing something here?? --Jaysweet (talk) 18:29, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Eeps! Well, thanks very much for the heads-up. Looks like this one is above my head (dunno if I should really be responding as much to reports on ANI anyway, since I'm not an admin, but a lot of that crap seems like it can be resolved just be asking people to stop being WP:DICKs, hehehe... not this one, though!) --Jaysweet (talk) 18:34, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Lost on the way to MySpace

[edit]

hahaha, thanks. Yeah, I was thinking of putting a disclaimer recommending that nobody actually point someone to this essay if they are confused (unless maybe they are just not getting it). Kind of like WP:DICK -- good to read and take into account, but pointing someone to it is a terrible, terrible idea :D

I like the "Your are not notable" idea. heh... I have had Rahul on my Watchlist for a while, and man, I gotta tell you... I even put giant comments both above and below the list telling people that they aren't notable and not to add themselves to the list, but it doesn't work. hehehe... Perhaps WP:BEANS? I dunno, I guess it's just teh interwubz for you. At least we rarely get people who are as stupid as people who post comments on YouTube... heh... --Jaysweet (talk) 14:08, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Voice4ever (User)

[edit]

Actually the only one doing vandelism is Voice4Ever and He/She's other accounts which include 'Triping'. Even Gimmetrow the admin agreed. You have been adding not reliable and unsources chart positons and not to mention reverting over 16 edits made to remove you fake false information. When you do not agree on the edit you seem to call it vandelism when it is not merely considered that. And you kept on adding fake references that do not even mention she song or album. And not to mention the amount of vandelism your other account Triping has done. The Billboard refernces for charts that are not official in the end all of the charts listed add up to the Pop 100 Billboard chart which is mention already. So stop you vandelism and delecting claims. If you revert anotehr edit made on those page, you will end up being blocked just like you previous accounts.Prepelos Talk 13:37, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the barnstar! It's an honor to receive it. Noticing the pattern was certainly interesting. Like EyeSerene said in the ANI thread, I don't think I can take my shoes off again. =) -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 06:57, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Use of New Template

[edit]

I have created a template {{WikiProject Maryland/flag/animated}} using a commons image that could be used on the front page of the Maryland project. As you can see, I have configured it to fly behind the wiki-puzzle-world logo in the upper left portion of the screen. I will leave it there for a couple of days and invite your comments as to whether we should use it on our front page, or not.--«Marylandstater» «reply» 16:32, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Change of csd tag on Bentry Heath FC

Changed from db-bio to db-club as seemed more appropriate, hope you don't mind! AvnjayTalk 14:27, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Haha, yeah mornings aren't my best time either. I got caught out the first time on that Twinkle csd tagging as well. Ah well. Have a good day and happy editing :) AvnjayTalk 14:34, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

[edit]

hey, whats wrong with the D$W page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Impactnash (talkcontribs) 15:28, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My mistake!

[edit]

Sorry about the warning that Twinkle put here. I was marking the page Snoopfox for deletion, and didn't realize you originally set the page to refer to a user's page. The editor removed those tags and recreated the article back in main space, and I re-added the tag via Twinkle, which then saw YOU as the original editor. Sorry about the mix up! :)

No worries, you are not the only one who didn't see it (And in all honesty, neither would i). However, did you also notice the user is actually called "Snoopfoxculture"? Looks like he has been trying to circumvent this by creating a talk page at user_talk:Snoopfox. Either way i reported him now. Excirial (Talk,Contribs) 19:18, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Aye my apologies too :) BigDuncTalk 19:19, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No need, no need! No harm was done, it was not intentional, and there was no real way this could have been known. In short, was there a mistake in the first place? ;) Excirial (Talk,Contribs) 19:20, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ready To Be Adopted!

[edit]

I am a brand new Wikipedian ( I just joined literally a couple days ago). I'm familiar with the basic Wikipedia rules, but I could use a rather generous amount of guidance. I would mostly like to clean up vandalism and correct mistyped info. I am on nearly everyday, willing to work for probably no more than an hour (or less, give or take). If you are available, please let me know on my user page. {{adoptme}} --Crackthewhip775 (talk) 01:51, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ready To Be Adopted! (Cont'd)

[edit]

Perfect! I'm available whenever you are. Although there is a difference in time zone for me, I'm quite sure that can be worked out. By the way, I was just wondering, if my web browser asks me to "remember" a password for me, should I let it? --Crackthewhip775 (talk) 07:14, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Changing a picture

[edit]

I'd like to know how do you change a picture in an article? Also, how do you check if picture is for free use if you find it on the web? --Crackthewhip775 (talk) 23:00, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a million for the advice. --Crackthewhip775 (talk) 18:09, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is creating a Wikipedia Commons account sockpuppeting when you have a normal one? If not, do I need to put a special alert on the user page saying it isn't? I'm sorry if I'm appearing to be a pest asking so many questions, but this stuff is complicated, having to open a separate account just for the sheer purpose of uploading images (and having to wait four days just to be able to use it). And how do check that you're not accidentally violating any copyright laws when some pictures have copyright protection, yet they appear to be free images? *Sigh*. Again, I apologize for being so annoying. --Crackthewhip775 (talk) 05:54, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I found an image on the web I believe is for fair use. Now how do I upload it to my Commons account and then replace an old picture in an article with this one?(I think I figured that out) By the way, I created a Wikipedia commons account and then tried to merge with the normal one, but when I enter my username (I kept the same username for the other one), the login says no such account exists. What's going on? --Crackthewhip775 (talk) 06:46, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, pretty much. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, I don't know. I'm just as puzzled as you are.

--Crackthewhip775 (talk) 04:22, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think I found the problem. The unified login page is on MetaWiki, where I don't have an account, and maybe that's why my accounts aren't recognized there. --Crackthewhip775 (talk) 19:40, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
DONE! I did it! Thanks for your help and support, man! --Crackthewhip775 (talk) 04:37, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, if a picture you're trying to upload for an article says "all rights reserved"(it's from flickr) but isn't an obvious copyrighted photo (like an album or magazine cover), it's something like a CD signing at a record store or a walk on the red carpet, should I do best not to upload it? And how do I obtain permission from the author or publisher? --Crackthewhip775 (talk) 05:00, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

People ganging up to disrupt an article

[edit]

Hi,

I found you at Wikipedia:Editor assistance. If you can spare a few minutes of your time helping out at Indo-Aryan loanwords in Tamil, I would be thankful.

I am developing an article on words borrowed by Tamil from Indo-Aryan languages. I am citing a standard authoritative lexicon from which I find the words that are borrowed before including them at Indo-Aryan loanwords in Tamil. There are a few people who seem to be intent in damaging the article by adding "cite" tags, "disputed" and "dubious" tags for the article and threatening to delete it within 24 hours.

Could you please help?

Thanks. Kris (talk) 19:11, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
