GOCE Backlog Elimination Drive Wrap-up
[edit]Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors July 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. Thanks to all who participated in the drive! Over 100 editors—including Jimbo Wales—signed up this time (nearly triple the participants of the May drive). This benefited the Guild as well as the articles in need of copy editing. You can see from the comparison graphs that we increased the number of completed copyedits substantially. Unfortunately, we were not able to meet our goal of completely wiping out 2008 from the queue. We also were not able to reduce the backlog to less than 6,000 articles. We suspect people were busy with real life summertime things, at least in the northern hemisphere! We were able to remove the months of January, February, March, April, and May from the backlog, and we almost wiped out the month of June. We reduced the backlog by 1,289 articles (17%), so all in all it was a very successful drive, and we will be holding another event soon. We'll come up with some new ideas to try to keep things fresh and interesting. Keep up the good work, everybody!

Film and Television Production Manager
[edit]Hi Wifione,
I recently posted a new subject on Wikipedia titled Film and television Production Manager. You contacted me to say that the subject of this profession was covered in Production Manager. When you click on this link it takes you to Product manager and does not mention anything to do with this profession.
Even on the Film production page has links to other pages for most professions in the Film and Television production world but not Production Managers.
This profession is one of the most important in the industry as they have to oversee all processes from initial conception through to delivery of a project to a broadcaster or distributor.
I am attempting to highlight this profession and have plenty of information to substantiate the reference.
I would be happy to take some pointers on how to successfully achieve this.
Thanks in advance. Please feel free to contact me at my e-mail address. marc@bullrodger.co.uk

Your note on my talk page about IIPM
[edit]Dear Wifone,
It is very disheartening to see the links removed, but let me try and place the issue in perspective. Let me try and tackle each of the changes in an orderly way.
First, the UGC ad
It appeared in the Times of India on August 23:
http://epaper.timesofindia.com/Repository/getimage.dll?path=CAP/2010/08/23/9/Img/Ad0090800.png
The date is in the newspaper itself. 2007 is part of the number of the advertisement. You can see the notice here:
Why would the UGC issue a 2007 notice in 2010?
The reason why the UGS seems to have been compelled to give this notice is for reasons such as the following:
http://twitpic.com/2fkopn/full
Now, you could argue that the Twitpic is not an autheticated account, but that is the trouble with banner advertising. They would never have a static URL.
I hope you would be able to see the problem that the UGC and some of the past students of IIPM are fighting: despite warnings, IIPM blatantly continues to advertise falsely and that is why such ads by UGC are required. I hope the above will be able to satisfy you that this is absolutely PERTINENT news worthy of being mentioned about IIPM as anyone who reads the entry should know what the government's regulatory body has to say about IIPM
Once I have your approval to re-insert the above detail in the entry, I will come back and address some of the other issues.

COI
[edit]http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User_talk:194.78.45.187
I see you have left a message of conflict of interest.
Wikipedia probably has far, far more conflicts of interest but we pick on companies more. The person who wrote clearly states that they are part of the company. This is disclosure and is good.
On the other hand, we have lots of anonymous editors that write about all kinds of things. An engineer may write about a patented chemical that his company makes, a Canadian NDP supporter may write positive comments about the NDP politician that he supports. The list is endless. Yet we let this go and attack corporate people.
This should stop.
There should be total disclosure for everybody. The details, ArbCom or you can decide. For example, I am writing on the GBU-53/B bomb. There should be a separate page with a tab (where it says discussion/edit this page/history...etc) where the tab says Disclaimers. When you click disclaimer, it has a list where you can add your name. In the GBU-53/B article, I might write:
Suomi Finland 2009 (talk) 15:19, 26 August 2010 (UTC) I have no conflict of interest. I am not an employee of Raytheon, Boeing and am not an employee of the U.S. government or defence industry.
In the Nokian Tyres artice, I could add:
Suomi Finland 2009 (talk) 15:19, 26 August 2010 (UTC) I have a conflict of interest to declare. I have ties to Finland and have used Nokian tyres in the past but do not do so now. I have never written promotional materials for Nokian elsewhere and have not had any tyre complaints about Nokian. I have not received any free tyres or other considerations from Nokian.
Suomi Finland 2009 (talk) 15:19, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the exhaustive message. Your suggestion is appreciated. I believe you're acting in good faith, but your suggestion would not be able to limit bad faith COI editors from still not revealing their identity on the proposed disclaimer page, defeating the very purpose of the disclaimer and complicating editing by a level, albeit a simple level. Still, if you believe your viewpoint has weight, you could post your suggestion at WP:Village pump. Warm regards. ♪ ♫ Wifione ♫ ♪ ―Œ ♣Łeave Ξ мessage♣ 04:12, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
