Danger (Musician) page deletion

[edit]

You marked this article for deletion on the 9th of October on the grounds that it relates to a non-notable musician. I am afraid I must disagree, Danger has songs charting on iTunes and his remixes are very popular on music blogging sites such as www.hypem.com. I feel this page is useful on the basis that an encyclopaedia should have information that people are looking for, the information on this page is not easily found elsewhere.

Please do not delete

[edit]

On July 4th you marked http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Mystical_Sun for deletion. I assert that Mystical Sun qualifies for a page by charting on the iTunes music charts "Has had a charted hit on any national music chart". The song "Halo" is regularly played on XMRadio "Has been placed in rotation nationally by any major radio network"

I removed the text from the page that you found promotional. If you Google "Mystical Sun" you will find thousands of pages. —Preceding unsigned comment added by M-sun (talkcontribs) 22:19, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Halfway, pleased

[edit]

Hi Tomasz, and thanks for looking over the Curt Smith page. I wanted to let you know that the correct spelling of his album title is in fact "Halfway, pleased" as it's meant to be a phrase, with the word "pleased" in lower-case. There is a song on the album called "Halfway Pleased," which IS meant to have both words capitalized, but without the comma in between. I didn't want to go in on top and revert your changes without explaining to you... but if you could go back and re-fix them, that would be great. Wzzy (talk) 16:15, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have never officially joined any sort of WikiProject, although there are some projects in which I'd probably be the most active member if I did. I'm not convinced of their usefulness - I almost never get responses when I post on their talk boards. I also tagged WP:JAZZ as inactive; both of these are pretty worrisome, because both of these topics are in terrible shape in general on Wiki. How many regular editors in hip-hop (article creators, GA nominators) do you think there are right now? Chubbles (talk) 22:18, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hah, I've been administering CPR to jazz for almost a month now. I found out that there were something like 300 articles on the German wiki about American and British jazz musicians with no corresponding article here. Maybe halfway done with that. Chubbles (talk) 22:29, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
For what it's worth, I'll take requests for articles on obviously notable hip hop musicians, especially if their pages have been previously deleted. It's one of the toughest genres to legitimate here, not the least of which is the problem of 12-year-olds pasting MySpace bios in as new articles. Chubbles (talk) 22:31, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hip hop Project

Hi, I saw your message on the Hip hop WikiProject talk page, and I have decided to join to try to help the project get going again. I haven't made many edits but I have made significant additions to The Chronic, which is now up for a GA nomination, and done some work on the Straight Outta Compton article. I was thinking that maybe we should restart the "list of members" page, as it seems many of the users who are on the page either no longer edit or don't contribute to the project. I was also thinking that maybe we should change the current collaboration, just to get people more eager to help out .What do you think would help the project get going ? We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Deaths in 2008 and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 18:01, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not having a songlist is a personel opinion and even though other bands might not have such a page, that doesn't imply that we can't include a page on wikipedia which lists the songs recorded. The inclusion of the songlist and other discography related articles has enriched the Westlife wiki entry tremendously as compared to months before.

By not including this section and other related articles, you're just restricting yourself to skin deep information. Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of an encyclopedia?

Please reply on the article discussion page in question.--Longyuano (talk) 08:13, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The combined Cadet Force information in "The King's School" article

[edit]

Hello. There was a call to discuss this matter in Talk:The King's School, Chester#Despite discussion, how can the continuing dispute about adding the CCF past and present leaders in a series of lists be resolved? which did not stop the edit-warring. So the article page was protected in order to try to get the interested parties to discuss the issue. Since the call to discuss the matter was made on 28th March, and the page was protected on 5th April, you have yet to make any argument in favour of not including the information in that discussion, but others have advanced arguments in favour of its inclusion. Unless you engage with the discussion, it will be difficult for your position to be sustained, and the material may well be appropriately included which will then reflect badly upon you if you resume removing the material. I'm just sending you this message to make sure you are clear about this.  DDStretch  (talk) 11:02, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:3efJuju.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:BorrowedTunes.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

[edit]

Hi, I remember talking to you afew months ago about the state of WikiProject Hip hop and I think we should really try to get it going again. Do you think it would be okay to restart the member list ? I understand we'll need to go around and leave a message on everybodies talk page (can't we get a bot or something to do it). I think we should maybe change the collaboration to a Tupac album or something like that, or one that everybody would be willing to contribute to, what do ya think ? - Guerilla In Tha Mist (talk) 18:11, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please have another look at the references establishing notability for Balla. Balla is manufactured and distributed by SonyBMG in Portugal, as well as having a release on EMI (Guideline 5). He has toured extensively within the country as well as playing at several large music festivals (Guideline 4). He has citations in Diário Digital, Blitz and Jornal de Noticias, the biggest national newspapers and magazines in Portugal (Guideline 1), plus he's broadcast and playlisted on Antena 3, the biggest commercial station in Portugal (Guideline 11). He is actually Armando Teixeira, who already has a wiki citation, but he appears on national charts and press articles as Balla, his alter ego. Finally, he was a former member of Da Weasel, probably the biggest selling hip hop artist in Portugal. Altlusa (talk) 14:40, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It seems to be customary with Lowlife releases that when the release date commences the artists usually has an interview with ukhh, leedshiphop, headnob, britishhiphop etc etc As this is possibly Braintaxs last album it is quite odd that he leave without confirming if it is indeed his last album or not, i thought it was quite relevant and interesting to the article. Orphaned non-free media (Image:VartCrows.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:VartCrows.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Speedy deletion of Trusted (band)

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Trusted (band), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Latics 01:17, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

frank bango

[edit]

Hey man, apologies, I'd not seen the criteria for notability before. Looking at it you made the right call - I don't think Frank Bango qualifies (though I'd qualify that by saying I'm from the UK and he's from the US so it's possible he's been written about in US publications that I'm not aware about). I still have high hopes of him becoming notable because I love the man and his music but don't have a problem with your nomination. artist award page names

[edit]

Instead of immediately moving several pages (which could very easily be reverted soon), why don't you first discuss the naming conventions at Wikipedia:WikiProject Music or with User:Gary King who has created many of these pages? -- Scorpion0422 21:50, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you indeed acted a bit rashly in moving the awards pages. Originally, they were titled "List of [artist] awards", but they were later changed to "List of awards and nominations received by [artist]" as that is more accurate. In certain cases, it is necessary to avoid confusion, such as "List of Ludacris awards" might convince some people that it is a list of awards that are released by Ludacris, or are "ludicrous". Please undo the renames that you have done to articles, thanks. Gary King (talk) 02:36, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
i have done as you asked, although i think it's pathetically unlikely that any such "confusion" of which you talk could ever arise. tomasz. 12:00, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If an article can be titled "List of awards and nominations received by [artist]" rather than "List of [artist] awards and nominations", then why not? The former is clearer than the latter, even if only by a little. The only disadvantage is that it's a bit longer. If you want to see some of the background on this topic, then see this. There are a few more discussions that I can point you to if you'd like. Gary King (talk) 17:22, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Anyways, thanks for moving them back. And yes, you are free to move the other awards list to that format. It's probably a good idea to do so so that the standard is propagated. Gary King (talk) 17:34, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Any chance that this could be moved to an article on the band? I dug up a couple sources for the band, and they're on an apparently notable label, so they might be notable enough for their own page. Otherwise I'd tag the album for CSD#A9. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 16:13, 16 October 2008 (UTC) Well, I was right. Gramsci Melodic AfD Discussion

[edit]

Hello, I read your post about the legitimacy of the article. I wanted to let you know that an additional source has been added, in addition to new commentary on the discussion page. I thank you for taking the time to weigh in on this. Even if we disagree on the article's place, this process has certainly strengthened it as a whole.

"A musician or ensemble (note that this includes a band, singer, rapper, orchestra, DJ, musical theatre group, etc.) is notable if it meets any one of the following criteria:"
"It has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent of the musician or ensemble itself and reliable."::::
and::
"Has won or placed in a major music competition."::::
Based on the exact wording of the guideline, this criteria has been met::::
furthermore::
"notable if it meets any one of the following criteria"::::

Granted, my legal background may not be based around contract law, but if one meets the stated criteria then there should certainly be no reason to deny said author. I am not asking for a change in the guidelines. Quite to the contrary, I am asking that the guidelines be followed and not changed retroactively. Thanks again. Deaths in February 2007 revert

[edit]

Hi

Re this revert - I put that tag there because I couldn't put it on either of the Jock Dodds or Hat-trick articles as neither claims that he holds or has held such a record. Are {{Fact}}-tags not permitted on certain types of pages? If so, rather than simply revert, shouldn't the challenged/disputed statement be removed? 58.8.3.119 (talk) 12:34, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Donnie Park (talk · contribs) has, as is clearly indicated by the template at the top of the page, proposed that the content be merged into List of business failures and opened a discussion about it on that page's talk page. As per his comments there, lacking any opposition, he went ahead and made the change. I consider it unfortunate therefore that you've simply gone ahead and reverted this. You've not raised issue with the move nor did you actually explain your reasoning for reverting the change because you didn't provide an edit summary. In the absence of any explanation as to your opposition to this change, I will be reverting it in-line with what Donnie Park proposed and subsequently implemented. Wrinkles' Execution Last Meal

[edit]

Yes, his last meal took place three days prior. This is normal in Indiana to avoid the condemned from being too nervous to eat in the final hours thus missing their meal. In reality it is not their last meal as they continue to get normal meals after this formality. Its only called the "last meal" because of the formality of it. It can be considered this because they get to pick what they want instead of getting the normal prison meals for that day. The reference in the article states this issue. Just though I would let you know this since you seemed confused or was wondering if it was true. JeremyWJ (talk) 00:47, 12 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
