[edit]I disagree that my recent edit to the article homophobia was not constructive. Please do not remove what I wrote. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.83.157.252 (talk) 03:12, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
- Well the problem was that you removed a passage of information with references without an edit summary that explained why, that's all - how is anyone supposed to know what you were intending to do? If you use edit summaries that properly describe your rationale and edit, then there will be no issue. Anyway, I apologize if I caused offense. Regards, Vishnava talk 03:24, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

My RFB
[edit]Thank you for your comments in my RFB. Since it was only at 64%, it was a shoo-in to be unsuccessful, so I withdrew. I didn't want it to run until its scheduled close time because my intent in standing for RFB was to help the bureaucrats with their workload, not give them one more RfX to close. Through the course of my RFB, I received some very valuable feedback, some of it was contradictary, but other points were well agreed upon. I have ceased my admin coaching for now to give me time to revamp my method. I don't want to give up coaching completely, but I'm going to find a different angle from which to approach it. As for my RFA Standards, I am going to do some deep intraspection. I wrote those standards six months ago and I will slowly retool them. This will take some time for me to really dig down and express what I want in an admin candidate. If, after some serious time of deep thought, I don't find anything to change in them, I'll leave them the way they are. I'm not going to change them just because of some community disagreement as to what they should be. Will I stand for RFB again in the future? I don't know. Perhaps some time down the road, when my tenure as an administrator is greater than one year, if there is a pressing need for more active bureaucrats, maybe. If there no pressing need, then maybe not. Useight (talk) 03:13, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

Terribly Sorry!
[edit]I apologize for this edit in which I described your change as vandalism. I pulled the trigger too quickly. You were obviously trying to fix vandalism to the same page. What I saw was that there was vandalism still in the page even after your revert, and I immediately assumed you were the cause of the vandalism. Instead, the origin of the vandalism was well before you got there. Again, sorry for the mistake! CosineKitty (talk) 21:54, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to Dog meat has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thanks. The recent edit you made to Dog meat constitutes vandalism, and has been reverted. Please do not continue to vandalize pages; use the sandbox for testing. Thanks. Blanchardb-Me•MyEars•MyMouth-timed 01:44, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
- Well the warning was based on (1) you didn't explain your edit with an edit summary, which made the insertion of that sentence look suspicious and like a racial attack; (2) You inserted an un-referenced sentence that made a sweeping claim after sentences that were clearly referenced stated that the views of Koreans are changing - aggravating concerns about a possible insulting insinuation.
- That said, I apologize if there was a misunderstanding - you clearly have good intentions. Please use edit summaries and use references for your work. Please continue to contribute, Vishnava talk 02:00, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

This article looks well written from the sources you used, you took the information, put it in a useful order, wrote the facts in an encyclopedic manner. I have lately been looking for plagiarism in DYK articles, and yours rings no warning bells. Maybe I'll look at your article closer, maybe not. Can you help?
[edit]I see you were listed as a participant in the League of Copy-Editors so it seems likely you can ... The thing is the Military history wikiproject urgently needs prose pros to help with our best articles. Milhist covers a broad range of interesting and varied subjects from film to biography, battles to weaponry, and Roman emperors to twentieth-century dictators. In Milhist, A-Class has become the last port of call before FAC and we are looking for people to help identify prose and MoS issues at A-Class A-Class Reviews and help fix them prior to featured article candidacy. We also have a copy-editing section in our Logistics Dept and that can always use experienced copy-editors. For most of our articles, you don't need to be a specialist in the subject matter, just good with words.
If you think you can help, please do! Thanks for your time, --ROGER DAVIES talk 04:15, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Articles for review |

- First, thank you very much for responding to the call. I'm sorry it's taken a bit of time to get back to you but I've got the builders in at home (and they're causing chaos) and I've got very behind.
- Second, we need help on a couple of levels. we are so short of good copy-editors, partly because of the large number of Milhist articles at PR and FAC, that we're trying to concentrate on A-Class reviews and featured article candidates. I've taken the liberty of transcluding our new tracker template, listing the applicable articles. To add this to your user pages independently of this message, simply cut and paste
{{WPMILHIST Copy-editing alerts}}
to the required location.
- A-Class - copy-tasting / reviewing
- We are currently trying to improve the depth and quality of the Milhist A-Class review. What will help here considerably is copy-tasting. That is, reviewing an article and commenting on the style and prose. Clarity, longwindedness (the bane of Milhist), grammar, mixing and matching WP:ENGVAR varieties, MoS stuff (especially dashes), date formatting etc. (Any subsequent copy-editing would be a very welcome and helpful bonus!) Input on any current A-Class candidate would be helpful.
- Copy-editing pre-FA and FA candidates
- Editors normally take articles go from ACR to FAC, usually via a request for a copy-edit. These requests are usually made here or by leaving messages on copy-editors talk pages. You can respond to requests there or list yourself as a copy-editor so that others may contact you. Either would be very much appreciated. Additionally, a frequent reason for opposition is prose and some hands-on copy-editing of FA candidates would be enormously helpful. (If you do subsequently support the article, please do remember to disclose the copy-edit: ie Support (as copy-editor) though you may prefer simply to Comment that a copy-edit has been done.)
- I do hope you can help and that this grows into a longer-term commitment. We are working very hard to set the bar for quality with Milhist articles and quality copy-editing is an essential part of this. With apologies again for the tardy reply, --ROGER DAVIES talk 05:40, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Articles needing copy edit (tentative name)
[edit]Hello there!
I have begun laying the groundwork for a new WikiProject that has a very simple goal, to improve Wikipedia by dealing with the articles tagged for copy edit, and I am wondering if you are interested in helping me start it. This project is not a clone of WP:LOCE because we will not deal with requests for review (that is currently handled by our good friends over at Peer Review).
I expect that this will be a relaxed, happy and casual WikiProject, because participants will be able to take things at their own pace and use the project page to ask other participants for help. The project proposal is here, and I have created an almost-functional project page in my userspace here.
There are now over 4000 articles needing copy edit, and very, very few people working on them, so any help, however small, is appreciated. If you are interested, please sign up at the proposal page. Once we have enough people, I will shift the project page, along with its subpages from my userspace into the Wikipedia namespace. For now we can use this section of my talk page to discuss the direction and details of the project, and, of course, its name. *grin*
Cheers!-Samuel Tan 12:35, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
