Bateson
Hi. see you changed information to bit in G. Bateson article. It might be you have a case, but I am quite sure that information is more correct (at least that is the most common interpretation, I think). But if you want to change it back (I reverted it), lets discuss it on the discussion page. pertn 20:59, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
Non profit/NGO debate
Vagary, I"m just coming across your efforts from last summer to address the unnecessary diffusion of npos and ngos throughout wikipedia. i am frustrated with the current set of affairs and wonder whether you are interested in re-visiting the issue. for me, it comes up in categorization, where it just feels the current system is unsatisfying.
See my posts [1] http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Organizations#Non_profits.2FNGOs.2FCharities_etc_-_what_a_mess.21

Assistance with DeVry article
Vagary, thanks for help with the discussion on the DeVry page. I don't feel comfortable making changes to the article, since I have a relationship with the entity itself, but I'm concerned that another user is "taking over" the article to air his own concerns and theories. In fact, he just copied his screed from the archives and posted it to the talk page again, and he's started referred to me as a "Wikipredator" and "Wikiimpostor". Do you have any advice on how to handle the situation? I'm new to Wikipedia and have no idea whether to seek mediation or with whom to address my concerns. Sorry to lay this on you but I'm not sure who to ask :) Thanks! 208.0.29.250 21:09, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Otterzero
- The Wikipedia dispute process is daunting, so I certainly don't mind helping. I've added DeVry to WP:WQA and WP:RFC. You should create an account to participate. Vagary 00:38, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
- Cool, thanks! Yeah, I really had no idea where to start with the process -- I contacted you and left a message on the "Assistance" page, and you and the folks there have been a big help. I'll create an account over the weekend to participate in the process. 68.38.214.28 02:43, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Otterzero
What are you using the word Vandal so lightly in Wikipedia?
I mean nobody is afraid of you, not as yet. I see that you have a long history on reporting users, perhaps they are already reporting on you, what you mean by stating, "Revert sockpuppet crazy editing:" or by putting people down, what are you? the owner of truth, Refrain to use the word vandal, with that frequency. Refrain from helping vandals also, I respect scientology as I do respect any religion, see deep into your contribs, and what are you achieving with them. Also, I see too much into one subject and one user, where otherwise you were all over the place Why? Have you become obsessive? This is the only and friendly remainder, nobody likes to see his or her entries labeled and reverted with degrading adjectives. You will be reported if another similar action against any user, entry or anon ocurred again, we are here to learn and share what we know, we are no here to insult or attack anybody it is bad idea, Now presenting sources, is not attacking or negativity. If something happens, and has been properly documented, then is part of the record and need to be presented. Assume good faith and have good faith. Because there are mistakes in the processes of editing and always we can fix them, however with the appropriate tone. So I requesting your assistance for holding your seemed ugly impromptus. -18:40, 25 April 2007 (UTC)24.90.244.160 18:54, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Accreditation question response
Hi Vagary, Hope you don't mind me responding to your question on the talk page here rather than the DeVry talk page. Unfortunately, my COI powers don't give me any particular knowledge of DeVry's accreditation, or how the programs-by-location work -- I'm just an employee at a branch, and I take some classes online. Much less exciting than CodePlowed's theory, which is that I'm apparently part of some sinister WikiVandalism cult. Besides, if I post anything anywhere near the DeVry article or talk page, it's likely to get immediately reverted with a cryptic edit comment like "Wookies are future of academic freedom, take Derrida to heart, Wikiimposter, careful!" :)
So is CodePlowed's takeover of the talk page pretty much just something we have to put up with? My friends are probably happy about that -- they're now hooked on reading his rants. I'm just concerned that it's making the talk page much less useful for actually discussing the editing of the article. OtterZero 21:09, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- I tried digging around the website trying to figure out what the deal is with accreditation -- I'm still clueless. If you go to:
http://www.investors.devry.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=93880&p=irol-archiveNewsArticle&ID=407871&highlight= ... there's a note about how " The university received approval from the Colorado Commission on Higher Education to offer two bachelor's degree programs, one in biomedical informatics and one in biomedical engineering technology, as well as an associate degree program in health information technology." I have no idea if that is considered accreditation at all, or even what type of accreditation these programs require. I'm not sure that the current edit on the article, which reads "DeVry has not yet sought accreditation for its Biomedical Engineering Technology program", is technically accurate as a result. Was the approval technically accreditation? Is there in fact a non-public accreditation-seeking process? Does Wikipedia have any places we could post a request for help from someone who has a handle on how accreditation works in higher ed? I'm trying to avoid COI and stay out of the actual editing of this article as much as I can, but I want to make sure that what's up there is accurate.
- Jeez, I feel lame forwarding you information this way instead of using the article talk page, but I really don't want to feed the troll there. He's really fixated on the one and only edit I ever made to the article. OtterZero 01:59, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

I think that last insertion provides a pretty good indication that there's a lot of POV sockpuppetry going on there. I'd start a checkuser request, but I'm tied up for the rest of the afternoon. Might be an idea to consider, though. Tony Fox (arf!) 20:26, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

AIV
Thank you for making a report at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators generally only block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. Thank you. Jmlk17 08:30, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Non-free use disputed for Image:Thrifty foods-logo.png
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Thrifty foods-logo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted after seven days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 01:36, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image (Image:Fii logo.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:Fii logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 00:35, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Template:BSicon xKBFe
A tag has been placed on Template:BSicon xKBFe requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.
If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

jargon tag on Wet-bulb temperature
To what does your "too much jargon" tag refer to on Wet-bulb temperature?
The tag says "Please discuss this issue on the talk page". I looked at the talk page. I didn't see any discussion.
Please start the discussion on the article's talk page by identifying where, specifically, you find an excessive use of jargon. -Ac44ck (talk) 02:35, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your quick reply on the article's talk page. I tweaked the article some. It needs more work to address your well-stated concerns. - Ac44ck (talk) 05:50, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- I added a section which I think addresses your concerns. I realize that other parts of the article are technical, but it's a technical topic. Perhaps some of it can be tweaked to be more accessible. Do you think that the article is now in a shape which allows removal of the 'jargon' tag? If not, where do you think that it needs more clarification? Thanks. -Ac44ck (talk) 05:38, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Hox genes
sorry, I just saw only now the coment on hox genes you made on Template:MolBioGeneExp. yes, that is a very valid question (head-scratching), no idea why it is there. They are regulated a lot by transcription factors, methylation patterns and miRNAs, which all gets reset at gametogenesis so are not inherited as an organism, but are kept by the cell lineages (cell memory) which is not epigenetic I think at least. It is confusing so it is moving. Thanks --Squidonius (talk) 09:53, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.
Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.
Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this newly-granted right to edit Wikipedia via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a serious concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.
Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).

This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Notice of subpage moved
Hello. This is a message to let you know that a subpage of your user page has been moved to User:Vagary/Template:S (2). This has been done since titles with consecutive apostrophes (for example, '' or ''') have been known to cause issues with wiki markup on pages if the page title is linked on other pages. Since the end of 2014, the creation of titles containing consecutive apostrophes has been restricted by Wikipedia's title creation blacklist. The page can now be found at User:Vagary/Template:S (2). Feel free to contact me with any questions regarding this. Thank you. Steel1943 (talk) 18:09, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
