The Wikifier: March 2011

To assist with preparing the newsletter, please visit the newsroom. Past editions may be viewed here.

Hello Wikifiers!

Sorry this Newsletter is late, It should have gone out a month ago. I've been very busy in real life and didn't have time to get over to the newsletter. In this edition of the Newsletter, we have an editorial written by our new executive coordinator; Guoguo12. Guoguo12 has succeeded Mono due to an indefinite wikibreak. We also have the results of the February and March Mini drives.

Happy Wikifying,

Sumsum2010, the assistant coordinator of WikiProject Wikify

May 24, 2011 edit

My recent edit to Wesleyan University- which was this edit was indeed an edit made in good character and not intended to promote the article's subject. I would respectfully ask that you visit the citation (#183 on the page) to see that I was simply undoing this edit.

The Wesleyan fight song's official version (per the Wesleyan website) does in fact include the words "Go Wes!" If you could undo the deletion and make the section accurate, it would be appreciated. (http://www.wesleyan.edu/about/traditions.html) Smartalic34 (talk) 00:23, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

Opps, sorry! I restored the article to your version. Usb10 plug me in 00:24, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

June 2011 Wikification Drive

Sumsum2010·T·C 22:17, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Evolove, which you proposed for deletion. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! New Page Patrol survey

New page patrol – Survey Invitation

Hello Usb10! The WMF is currently developing new tools to make new page patrolling much easier. Whether you  have patrolled many pages or only a few, we now need to  know about your experience. The survey takes only 6 minutes, and the information you provide will not be shared with third parties other than to assist us in analyzing the results of the survey; the WMF will not use the information to identify you.

  • If this invitation  also appears on other accounts you  may  have, please complete the  survey  once only.
  • If this has been sent to you in error and you have never patrolled new pages, please ignore it.

Please click HERE to take part.
Many thanks in advance for providing this essential feedback.

You are receiving this invitation because you  have patrolled new pages. For more information, please see NPP Survey. Global message delivery 13:45, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

You tagged this article as both A7 and G1 and I just wanted to let you know that I removed the G1. Content of the article included stuff like

"Lachlan Astley was born somewhere in Sydney Australia during the fall of 1990. The exact date and circumstances of his birth are unknown since he was immediately placed in a basket and tossed in the Pacific Ocean. Young Lachlan rode the rough ocean waters for thousands of miles until a young American woman from California discovered the basket along the banks of the San Francisco Bay. Some say it was this first early journey to America that fueled both his love of exploration and fashion. The woman would raise Lachlan as her own, naming him Lachlan from an old Australian friend and giving him the surname Astley to reflect on his newly American heritage."

and this is easily legible. Please make sure that you only use G1 if the content is completely unreadable. Thanks, Nolelover Talk·Contribs 02:25, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

Opps, sorry. When I first looked at it, I saw that some of the sections said some pretty strange stuff (he was dumped into the SF bay in a basket when he was born?) so that was why I marked it G1. I'll try to be a little bit more careful. Usb10 plug me in 02:30, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
Thanks :) Just remember that to a new user, getting your work called "incoherent text or gibberish" can be a little insulting, so it should be used sparingly. Nolelover Talk·Contribs 02:34, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

I just reverted your revert of an IP's edits to the article. The IP removed a duplicated section, which was entirely in order. Favonian (talk) 18:09, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

San Francisco meetup at WMF headquarters

Hi Usb10,

I just wanted to give you a heads-up about the next wiki-meetup happening in SF. It'll be located at our very own Wikimedia Foundation offices, and we'd love it if some local editors who are new to the meetup scene came and got some free lunch with us :) Please sign up on the meetup page if you're interested in attending, and I hope to see you soon! Your input is needed on the SOPA initiative

Hi Usb10,

You are receiving this message either because you expressed an opinion about the proposed SOPA blackout before full blackout and soft blackout were adequately differentiated, or because you expressed general support without specifying a preference. Please ensure that your voice is heard by clarifying your position accordingly.

Thank you.

Reverts

These two edits were clearly not vandalism; please do not use the vandalism option in Twinkle except for cases of actual vandalism. Actually, given that only one of the two edits was potentially problematic (the other actually improved the article), it would have been best to simply re-add the CSD tag if you felt it was warranted, and not revert the edits. Barnstar

The Original Barnstar
This barnstar is awarded to everyone who - whatever their opinion - contributed to the discussion about Wikipedia and SOPA. Thank you for being a part of the discussion. Presented by the Wikimedia Foundation.

Tyler Cassidy

Had one of your PROD's from some time back contested (I believe your PROD was a very good call given the state of the article at the time), you may wish to take a look at it and the discussion here User_talk:Joe_Decker#Deletion_of_article_on_Tyler_Cassidy. There's some sourcing out there, but I haven't looked deeply to see how much, so I don't have an opinion myself (at least yet) about whether it should be taken to AfD or not, I'll leave that to your judgment. Thanks! --joe deckertalk to me 19:23, 29 February 2012 (UTC)
