Hi - Please note wikipedia's policy on conflict of interests (WP:COI). "If you have a conflict of interest: you are strongly discouraged from editing affected articles". This would include all employees of the company, anybody paid by the company and certainly the managing director. Please also note that all information added to the article needs to be independently sourced per WP:CITE. Thanks. Dormskirk (talk) 17:27, 23 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - apologies, thank you for making us aware of the above. Some of the information on this page is now out of date (i.e - franchises represented) would it be possible for us to work with yourself in order to get this updated so that it is correct? Thanks. SytnerGroup

Hi - Yes. Do you have an independent source that gives an up to date list? The current list does not seem to be sourced at all. Best wishes. Dormskirk (talk) 20:36, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, unfortunately not - this is not something that anyone tends to publish other than ourselves. The only thing that I can provide you with is a link to a dealership of each of the brands on Autotrader - these pages would show that we do indeed have stock at each. At the moment, the fact that manufacturers such as Saab and Toyota are showing is incredibly misleading as we haven't represented them in over 3 years. Kind Regards. SytnerGroup
Hi - I have removed the whole list as it unsourced as well as out of date. I hope this helps. Dormskirk (talk) 22:17, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 18:16, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

all recent edits done to the page were credited with external sources and exact quotes from third parties - no edits were created for the reason of promotion or marketing and instead brought the page up to date as the current page hasn't been updated since 2013. As you can imagine, this doesn't look great, hence my updates. If there was a problem with the wording etc with the recent updates, I would be more than happy to discuss. I just want to make sure that the page is up-to-date and correct as I'm sure that's how Wikipedia would like it to be? Totally understand that you can't have businesses promoting themselves on Wiki, so by all means make the account my name.

Decline reason:

The proposed new username is acceptable. However, the other elements of the block still need to be addressed. You will not be unblocked until: If you have no interest in editing Wikipedia beyond writing about your organisation, then you will not be unblocked. If this is the case, I recommend you consider alternative outlets. Yunshui  12:41, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Yunshui thank you for your assistance with the username change. I am a Digital Marketing assistant with Sytner Group and I was tasked by our CEO with keeping the page up-to-date as the current person updating the page had not updated it in a number of years. Completely respect that you don't want people from the actual business editing the page about their business, however you will see that all edits that we have completed have not been 'advertising or promotion' and are actually quotes from external sources that have been cited as requested. As a business, we need some way to keep this page continuously up-to-date as outdated information - such as things saying that we still own franchises that we sold years ago - can carry serious legal consequences for ourselves (such as large fines). Could you please advise us how we can accomplish this whilst still respecting the rules of Wikipedia?

No court in the world is going to fine you over information that appears in a Wikipedia article. You are welcome - indeed, encouraged - to use the edit request process to ask other users to update the content of the article, but the fact remains that as a paid editor with a conflict of interest you should not directly edit the page.
