Speedy deletion of Still Pending

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Still Pending requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Still Pending

[edit]

Hi,

I can understand why you might be worried about the article (the folks suggesting speedy deletion were clearly uninformed here), but it looks like it is headed toward being kept once again. I wouldn't be concerned; just let the AfD run the regular five days, and all will be well. Best wishes, Xoloz (talk) 14:47, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My honest opinion is that the picture of the band causes a gut-reaction among many experienced editors, "Oh look, how adorable... someone has written an article about their child's little band." Wikipedia gets articles on "start-up" bands en masse -- I'd wager that they are the single most frequently deleted articles, as a category. Too many teenagers confuse Wikipedia with MySpace, I think. Anyway, if someone doesn't bother to check the sources, this page can seem like one of those. At this point, any thorough editor would at least check the log, and -- after seeing that it has been at DRV -- leave it alone. With hundreds of articles to patrol, however, sometimes well-meaning editors are unfortunately not careful. I offer these comment only as the best explanation I can devise.
In general, if an AfD is begun less than six months after a prior AfD closed as "keep" on the same topic, it may be speedily closed. In this case, just enough time had elapsed, or I would have done so. Best wishes, Xoloz (talk) 15:34, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I noticed you asked for my opionion on Still Pending. Until now, I have not edited since last July. It seems as if the page survived the AFD so if you're asking if I should support keeping, it's no longer necessary. BuickCenturyDriver (talk) 05:20, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:FlukeBeauty-Cover-Art-Web.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:FlukeBeauty-Cover-Art-Web.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
