Barnstar

Thank you. It was awesome work that you did ! Tintin (talk) 17:03, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for awarding me a barnstar too (even though I still have two teams to write articles on). Nobleeagle (Talk) 23:16, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

Unfortunately, as is so often the case, I think the author feels hurt by the deletion. But seriously, without the standards, Yellow Pages is where we end up. Fan1967

I've been wondering -- how does you get your username to be so colourful in your signature? --Gadren 01:02, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

Thank you

Oule, Ave, and Hello. Sorry for the delay in responding to the message you left in my discussion page. Just so you know, I would like to thank you for removing your statements whereby you deemed the Aleksandra Wasowicz article a hoax. Moreover, I appreciate the apology you gave me when you stated that I might have been offended by the whole "hoax" issue. Currently, the article has more information pertaining to the works the Polish archaeologist has written. Hopefully, the article is good enough as it is now to convince people in Wikipedia that the article should remain. Nice talking to you. Again, thank you. Over and out. - Deucalionite May 3, 2006 12:14 P.M. EST

May the Force be with you.

Dear Srikeit/archive 3,

Thanks for voting on my RFA! I appreciate your faith in me, and was overwhelmed by the positive response to my RFA; for it shows that at least I'm doing something right. :) I've started working to improve myself already, and I hope that next time, things run better, and maybe, just maybe, one day we can bask on the shores of Admintopia together. Thanks and cheers, _-M o P-_ 18:23, Friday, November 29, 2024 (UTC)

Handshakes

Hello Srikeit, for all the welcomes

The Handshake Award is presented to you for the numerous welcomes! (BB) ßlηguγΣη Have your say!!! - review me 01:36, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

By the way, do you have an interest in the actor Ajith. Because User:Anwar sadaat keeps on continually reinserting terms like "mega-star" , "mega-blockbuster", "sky-high" after I removed the POV, with the rather misleading edit summary of "cleanup". He also then reinstates the term "Numero Uno" as a fact, even though it is merely some magazine's ranking of actors. Regards, ßlηguγΣη | Have your say!!! - review me 01:36, 4 May 2006 (UTC).

RFA

Almost... I'm sure you'd pass an RFA at this point, but if you want we can wait a bit until your mainspace contributions go up just a bit more; otherwise, some people might pull the "too little mainspace edits" card. Its your choice, and I'll gladly nominate you now if you want. MoppEr Speak! 13:38, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

Say like, 200 or 300. However, I still think most of the sane people on Wikipedia will support you as things are now, because you're both a vandal fighter and you improve articles; also, an awesome balance with lots of social interaction. I'll nominate you right this second if you want. MoppEr Speak! 16:03, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Srikeit. I nominated you, but as you know you have to accept/decline/etc. There is a very good chance of yourself succeeding if you go now, but I could always nominate you again later. Your choice, and don't feel pressure or feel like you have to accept; its your choice. MoppEr Speak! 16:52, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
Well, I must say I'm a bit wierded out; people are opposing because they claim you "haven't been around" for long enough. I haven't seen that done in a while. Hopefully you get a lot more support, though. MoppEr Speak! 21:43, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

Your RfA

FYI, I've added a new question to your RfA. When you have a minute, I'd appreciate if you would take a look. Thanks. JoshuaZ 22:03, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

Ahmedabad

Hi. My exams went ok. I don't study much these days. School days were different. I think your RfA should make it. There are some people who tend to take some time to observe and then "vote". - Aksi_great (talk) 10:32, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

I think Ahmedabad is nearly ready for PR and FA. Can you take a quick look at the article and give me suggestions as to what is still needed? - Aksi_great (talk) 10:32, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

I agree. I am still in the process of completing the article. Most of the sections are complete. Only the sports section is left. I am also going to put in an architecture section as Nichalp suggested. I am going to nominate for both GA and Selected article soon. Some pictures which I thought would be good were - motera stadium (for the future sports section), a good picture of a new amts bus, and a picture of a old/new textile mill. I have asked some users to take a quick look at the article to point out something which I may have totally missed. - Aksi_great (talk) 14:13, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi Srikeit. In the Belgaum article, I saw some edits since yours, which seem quite disturbing. But since I am not too aware with the subject, I am bringing this to your notice (since I saw you have been editing that article). Please take a look. Thanks. Have a nice day. --soUmyaSch 10:37, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Arte_mecco

Hi! I need advice.

I placed a Copyvio sticker on Arte_mecco because it is a cut and paste job from http://www.hugeaux.com/historyofartemecco.htm. User:Hugeaux created the thing. The article had contained a link to http://www.hugeaux.com, but creator removed it when I advised that it looked like link spam. Should I have used another label? I feel like I could have handled this better. Thanks.

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #3

The Administrator Coaching program is a program aimed at preparing Wikipedians for Adminship or helping them understand the intricacies of Wikipedia better. Recently, changes have been made to the requirements of coachees. Please review them before requesting this service.
This would be something like the Welcoming Committee, but for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. Some might like suggestions about how to learn vandal patrol, or mentoring on taking an article to featured status, or guidance with a proposal they plan to make at the Village Pump, for example. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.
The Stressbusters are a subset of Esperanza aiming to investigate the causes of stress. New eyes on the situation are always welcome!
Note from the editor
As always, MiszaBot handled this delivery. Thank you! Also, congratulations go to Pschemp, Titoxd and Freakofnurture for being elected in the last elections! An Esperanzial May to all of the readership!

Conflicting articles

  • Mr. Srikeit,
I don't mean to trouble you however I'm not sure who to discuss this with. There were two article's recently deleted as a copyright violations, Buckskin frank leslie and Nashville frank leslie respectively, which I had taken upon myself to rewite as Franklin Leslie. However an anonymous user 207.200.116.66, who I assumed created said articles, began adding the same copyrighted information. While I twice reverted the changes, explaining them in the edit history, User:OBrienMadHouse has since recreated his version of the article under Nashville Franklin Leslie. I certainly don't want to cause any trouble over this and I have contacted him on his talk page. Unfortunatly beyond that, I'm not sure what to do. MadMax 18:16, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

Vacation's going great. Slept at 5 AM yesterday (thanks to Nichalp - did you see Ahmedabad PR?). My head is spinning with all the Ahmedabad stuff that I am trying to read. FA is not as easy as it looks. - Aksi_great (talk) 19:57, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

I am going to be slightly busy today and tomorrow. Some guys from our college are organizing an anti-reservation march tomorrow from IIM Ahmedabad. So am busy informing people about that. How about joining us tomorrow? It is going to start at 9 AM. Only police permission is pending. Do come and bring along your friends with you too. - Aksi_great (talk) 06:17, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
Yes. It is against that. I tried to contact Anirudh too on his Orkut scrapbook, but he hasn't replied. Actually, we are waiting for police permission - if that comes then the march is on. Even if we have only 20 people there. - Aksi_great (talk) 06:39, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Answering the RFA questions

I am very, very sorry I hadn't answered the questions: I would have, but I really had to leave (I had to be up by 6:40 this morning). I know how much you love those answers (and I know it's really my civic duty to answer them), so I went on and answered them. Enjoy! —THIS IS MESSEDOCKER (TALK) 11:05, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your wishes! You can contact me at anirudhsbh at gmail dot com. Andy123(talk) 17:15, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
Thank you very much for changing your mind after I answered the questions. Situations like these are the exception, not the rule. If I could have answered the questions, I would have, but I had no time. It was a rare circumstance. —THIS IS MESSEDOCKER (TALK) 19:16, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Image

Of course I'll do it, I basically live for Photoshop :D. However, it may be a bit harder, as there isn't a solid background; I may have to draw in some fake tree. I'll tell you as soon as I finish. Cheers, Mopper Speak! 17:52, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Your RfA

There was not a consensus to promote at this time. Most of the commenters were pleased with your performance, so don't take it too hard. Try to self assess and use any of the suggestions there to help improve your editing, and if you keep up your current work, it looks like you will be successful when you have some more time under your belt. Keep up the good work. - Taxman Talk 20:48, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

RFA (again)

Too bad about your RFA. I personally think you'd make an excellent admin right now, but not everyone sees it that way. People frequently view time on the project as a hard standard simply because we have so few. Not a single comment that I saw reflected negatively on you or your contributions to date. If anything, it was the most positive failed RFA I've ever seen. Please don't get discouraged - we need good editos like you. In a few months I'm sure you'll pass an RFA with flying colors. Incidentally, if you happen to need someone to nominate you in a few months, I'd be more than happy to do it. --Bachrach44 23:12, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Yes I think you prolly shudda waited till June 1. I wonder if the bureaucrat should have noted the oppose votes on basis of the flagpic wouldn't apply after you rmvd it. You're an excellent contributor and please keep rollin'. Lemme know if I can ever be of assistance. Rama's Arrow 00:57, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, Sri, you are a very nice Wikipedian. Just keep editing, and just wait for the future. By the way, thanks for the uploading of that sound file to Tagore. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 05:50, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I know you asked MoP Mopper to cover up the date on that image you requested, but I did it anyways. I hope you like it. It is at: Image:Gujarat University2.JPG

--GeorgeMoney T·C 22:52, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Well until Mopper gets his, do you want to put mine in the article? --GeorgeMoney T·C 04:44, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
I was really tied up today... you guys can use yours until mine, but mine won't be much different. I'll just clone it out a bit better; George did a very good job but it looks a bit too machined (a bit of replication going on). So yeah, I say you guys can stick that in... I'll get mine in as soon as this damn homework is done. Mopper Speak! 05:14, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
Ok, I put mine up at Image:Gujarat University3.jpg. Again, it looks pretty much the same as George's, only I put in a fake branch to cover up the numbers. But still, awesome job George :) Mopper Speak! 05:58, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
All I did was cloned the cover-up from another part of the tree, which took me 2 seconds. --GeorgeMoney T·C 06:42, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

RfA again

Hi there Srikeit. I definitely won't be going "now" (at least in the next week) because I suspect that Anwar saadat will launch an attack, based on his comments at my editor review, and the fact that he first turned up at RfA to oppose you on the grounds of not having featured material - I have never seen anybody oppose due to lack of featured content, and suspect that perhaps this was due to you asking him to cool it on Talk:Ajith. If a lot of Indian editors kept a close watch on the RfA and defended me, (as Nichalp did when he tried to gatecrash the Aucaman arbitration and decided to try and get Zora banned), it would make it better, but I think Anwar might be able to sway people who are not particularly familiar with me, so I would prefer to wait at least two more weeks to see how this issue pans out. Regards and thanks again, ßlηguγΣη | Have your say!!! - review me 01:28, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi Srikeit, I've dropped you a wikipedia email; mine is not a gmail.ßlηguγΣη | Have your say!!! - review me 02:11, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
Hi srikeit. Sorry to see your RfA end this way. Don't get discouraged. And don't be in a hurry to go for your second RfA. July 1st would be a better option for you. You will get some oppose votes in your RfA saying "too soon from last RfA" if you have it in June. - Aksi_great (talk) 06:58, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
I am sure your next RFA will sail through fine. Please continue the good work you had been doing. Congrats on the big collection of barnstars. - Ganeshk (talk) 20:26, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

3RR

Hi Evrik, please be careful as you seem to be in danger of violating WP:3RR on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Cricket page. On a side note I don't see why the cricket barnstar can't be called a barnstar. Srikeit(talk ¦ ) 10:14, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the notice. If you read the barnstar page it talks about what can be called a barnstar, and what isn';t a barnstar. --13:10, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Next time

There is always a next time, and adminship is not an end in itself. We are here to build the Project, and I trust that in spite of a failed RfA, you shall not get dejected. Please continue the nice work. There is always a nest time - I repeat. Regards, and all the best! --Bhadani 15:02, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Your vote on my RFA

Thank you for voting on my RFA, however I've decided to withdraw my nomination. I'll perhaps nominate myself in the future once I have more experience, and not to immaturely release RFAs. Until then, I'll continue working on Wikipedia. —THIS IS MESSEDOCKER (TALK) 21:01, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Reminder

When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template. — Ian Manka Talk to me‼ 21:36, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Your RfA

Hi, I was sorry to see your RfA didn't reach a positive consensus. I am convinced you'll make a great admin, I've been impressed with your work on Wikipedia. Ajith

I don't think this is the right way of doing things. We don't own the article, and we can't blanket revert Anwar's edits, as he may sneak in good edits along with rotten ones. Let's see what he has to say since I've blocked him for 24 hrs and it is yet to expire.

The best way to go about it is to revert the obvious deification of people. The best way I see it is to revert the bad edits, and copy the reverted text to the talk and explain why each statement does not merit a place in wikipedia. We'd have to hammer the concept of WP:NPOV, WP:NOT and WP:CITE to each of the reverts.

The intended effect is this:

  1. Too keep up with his viewpoitns, he'd have to violate the 3RR rule which would fetch him an auto block.
  2. He can't continue with this forever, sooner or later he will have to give up, or else face a longer ban.

Unfortunately I can't monitor the situation during the course of the week, as I'm busy. He's got one block from me, and if he's reported to WP:AN for continued warring, he can be blocked for a longer period of say, a month. =Nichalp «Talk»= 11:41, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

Your RfA

Thanks! I hope both you and I will make it next time! --CTSWyneken 12:04, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

Keep going as you've been going. If it would not be inappropriate, let me know the next time you run. I presently see no reason not to support you then. Cheers,  :) Dlohcierekim 13:03, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

I've forgotten

Why did I oppose you? ForestH2

Yeah....yeah. Actully I should have supported you when I saw you'd only been here 4 months I thought....Needs more experience and time but then I looked up the number of edits you have an you have over 4,000. ForestH2

Thanks

Thanks for the ice-cream. I am not making any edits just now for fear of lashing out on some article like Mumbai police. Did you see the news? Terrible thing to happen. I just posted a comment of CNN-IBN titled national shame :( - Aksi_great (talk) 16:02, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

Help

Hi, it's me, Evan Robidoux. Could you help me out with something? I recently welcomed a user (Garret21.) This user created an article called Garret Meyer, which recently got a speedy deletion tag. I think that the user may have mistakenly created the article to use as a user page. I left a comment on his talk page about his possible mistake, but I feel like I may be biting a newcomer. I want to remove the message, but as far as I know, that would be a bad idea. What should I do? --Evan Robidoux 19:00, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
