Hi

Hi! Just had a look at your contribs. Impressive. Keep up the good work. (BTW I also copied the treble clef user box from your page. I'm a treble clef person too.) Peridon (talk) 15:20, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi! Thanks for the welcome! So, is your treble clef for instrument or voice? (I got the userbox from here by the way.) Sophus Bie (talk) 20:49, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
I hate to think what clef I sing in! (Have been used once or twice to clear a pub at closing time...) I'm a multi-instrumentalist playing recorders, mandolin, banjos, fluier, whistle, bodhran, djembe, panpipes, derbuka, tunable tabor, tambourine, snare drum, side drum, soprano drum, jingles, and formerly drum-kit. I play folk/jazz - I improvise folk music when I can't think what to play - and sometimes get a bit bluesy. I occasionally teach recorder and whistle too. I'm not saying I play all of them very well, but no-one complains. (That's why I gave up harmonica...) I have publicly played keyboard, but deliberately badly in a comedy routine. I listen to classical and world music on the radio, and world and metal on CD. (Nightwish, Cradle of Filth, Rob Zombie, Anathema, Municipal Waste and so on.) That's more than you wanted to know. How about you? Peridon (talk) 21:16, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
That's a large repertoire of instruments! Where did you manage to find someone who could teach pan pipes?
I'm personally a singer. I don't stick to any particular genre, but I'm currently singing lead in a barbershop chorus. Sophus Bie (talk) 02:24, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
Self taught, as with all of the others. I think I've got 'Sweet Adeline' on a 78 by the Four Aces. I quite enjoy good Barbershop. (Listening, not singing. I do on occasions perform 'Black Widows in the Privy' which is funny enough to get away with.) Peridon (talk) 20:56, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

thanks

Your help

English Electric/BAC Lightning (book) it seems user RHaworth, has issues with it. No wording is my own but sourced from the book reviews. Book is notable. Is not in print so cannot really be an advertisment. It says that Specific concerns may be found on the talk page, but RHaworth hasn't put any. The book I thought was correctly sourced and referenced. Could you put your view or edit it, giving it a fresh angle? I'm at a loss as I've only kept to the reviews, and even then I missed a fair bit out as they kept quoting people from the book and using words as "fantastic" etc.--FliptheCoin (talk) 10:52, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, It's certainly been chopped, but still looks good. I wasn't quite sure where he was coming from as well. The one thing I am sorry to see cut out (and I am tempted to put it back in) was where they said the Lightning was as familiar as the seagulls in Grimsby (I also gave the reference to this comment). It is sort of true, because at that time they could always be seen flying over. Anyway, thanks for looking it over.--FliptheCoin (talk) 08:45, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for explaining

Thank you for explaining. Its a pity we are required to upload to WP while GFDL works would better be loaded directly into Commons. AshLin (talk) 01:54, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

You are probably right. Since its time to go to work, I'll clarify my mind tonight. Good day to you! AshLin (talk) 02:13, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Hey Sophus Bie! Could you have a look at the nomination again? An SVG version of the image has now been uploaded. Thanks, SpencerT♦Nominate! 01:35, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Just doing some vandalism cleanup – boring work though. Thanks for the barnstar! —StaticVision (talk) 08:18, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the cookie!

Vielen Dank für das cookie, Sophus Bie; es schmeckte köstlichsten!

Since my modest contributions tend to be both sporadic and minor, I'd have thought them unlikely to be noticed amid the remarkable work of so many prolific editors—let alone appreciated. So the cookie was a most unexpected and very tasty surprise. Thanks! Error -128 (talk) 13:16, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

uploading pics to wikipedia

hi sophus, id like to add more pics to wikipedia but i think now that im autoconfirmed i have to manually upload. my internet here in Afghanistan is really slow and I already uploaded the pic to Flickr. I would really like to avoid uploading it twice.

Who knew that my vanadalisim would lead me to my sould mate. You un-did my vandalismim of the Jenson Button page. I have read your User page, and I have just fallen in love with you. Please respond. 122.49.157.251 (talk) 13:14, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks

Just noticed the typo team barnstar (they are the best ;)) you left on the 18th. Dunno how I missed it. Thank you for that and acknowledgement of the "had begun" effort. I've wanted one of those typo stars for a while now. LilHelpa (talk) 11:04, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for your copyedit here. If you could (per MOSNUM) not add commas into the dates in future? Thanks. Ironholds (talk) 23:28, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Thanks

I just wanted to say thank you for the barnstar! It's much appreciated. Happy editing. Icseaturtles 09:15, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Heh - three edit conflicts trying to restub that! (PS - stub templates go right at the bottom, under the categories). Keep up the good work :) Grutness...wha? 23:51, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Changes i have made have been rejected

Hi, I am trying to edit something on Keith Mann's page. It says that he is standing as a candidate for SPEAK Political, however, SPEAK Political officially changed their name to The Animal Protection Party on 18th April 2009. How do I change this without it being changed back? Thanks. allythebrat(username)Allythebrat (talk) 08:15, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Please be a bit more careful when rolling back edits. The edit you reverted was by the subject of the article and was not vandalism in any way. Stifle (talk) 08:32, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Copy-edit request

Hi, I noticed you are a member of the Guild of Copy-editors, the House article, needs a final lookover before going to FAC, and I was wondering if you could provide that help. Don't feel obligated of course. Thanks.--Music26/11 10:33, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Great, and thanks for your quick reply.--Music26/11 11:42, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
Hi again, maybe you forgot about it, but I haven't seen any edits made by you on the page. If you don't want to do it, it's really okay with me, just say so. Thanks.--Music26/11 20:28, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for notifying me, later.--Music26/11 18:13, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Stubs

Thank you for editing my stub category [1]. Why is it so difficult to look up the templates for stubs. It should come up immediately when I type "stubs" into the search box. I shouldn't have to go searching for it and as a result I don't bother being specific. I leave it to people like you Mike Hayes (talk) 02:36, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Thankx sophus

Hi Sophus Nice u gave a helping hand. Hope you can continue to guide me for the successful posting including editing. Iam new to orkut editing/contribution even though I use Wiki often. So it will be great if u can edit this page and help me post it

Thank you

You erased the bures information i posted, but as i come from that village, i think i do know what is happening there, please could you redo, what i put as it is a true event!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dumaluma2 (talkcontribs) 10:40, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I came to say thanks for the barnstar, so was slightly surprised to see a mention of the village my greatgrandfather and his brother came from when they walked to London. One of these years I'll pop over there and see if the eighteenth and nineteenth century graves of farm labourers are recorded anywhere - the article could certainly do with a picture or two. Anyway I did get a copyeditor barnstar in 2007 that was mainly for my typo fixing; But yes this is the first time I've had this new barnstar, thank you very much, its nice to be appreciated. ϢereSpielChequers 11:42, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Welcoming

Thank you for the Barnstar (my one and only!). I don't actually welcome many people - I've not been here all that long myself - except in the form 'Welcome to Wikipedia. However,...'. (That's a nice bit of punctuation, there...) (Incidentally, a three days short of being 11 years old girl offered to correct MY punctuation the other day. She was reading the start of a work-in-progress of mine on a laptop while her niece and my young cousin were watching some junk on a tiny DVD player. Very politely told me she thought she'd found a mistake and offered to correct it! I looked at it and said it was how I wanted it, but thanks. "But that should be a comma, and a small letter for 'and'," she said. "You shouldn't start a sentence with 'and', Mrs X told us." So I had to explain about the difference between formal and informal, and this was a train-of-thought narrative. She agreed it worked and made a difference to the effect, and was obviously going to tell Mrs X all about this. I was impressed.) Anyway, I am pleased to see you've become a valuable contributor here. Peridon (talk) 14:00, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
