==Welcome== Hello Rouseaubade and welcome to Wikipedia! I'm glad you've chosen to join us. This is a great project with lots of dedicated people, which might seem intimidating at times, but don't let anything discourage you. Be bold!, explore, and contribute. Try to be civil by following simple guidelines and signing your talk comments with ~~~~ but never forget that one of our central tenets is to ignore all rules.

If you want to learn more, Wikipedia:Tutorial is the place to go, but eventually the following links might also come in handy:

Float around until you find something that tickles your fancy. One easy way to do this is to hit the random page button in the navigation bar to the left. Additionally, the Community Portal offers a more structured way to become acquainted with the many great committees and groups that focus on specific tasks. My personal favorite stomping grounds are Wikipedia:Translation into English as well as the cleanup, welcoming, and counter-vandalism committees. Finally, the Wikimedia Foundation has several other wiki projects that you might enjoy. If you have any more questions, always feel free to ask me anything on my talk page. License tagging for Image:Ronronbig.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ronronbig.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 06:11, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Ronronbig.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ronronbig.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:09, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Eagulls, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Council House (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Notice

The file File:Appleford School Logo.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

There is no evidence that the shielf was actually released to the public domain as claimed. The copyright is likely held by the school in question. Furthermore, the image was inapropriately uploaded as a JPG. I have uploaded a PNG version Appleford School logo.png. Since the file is likely copyrighted and is no longer used in any article it should be deleted.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Auguel (talk) 00:26, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rouseaubade, I see you reverted my proposed deletion. I also see you are saying that the image was released to the public domain by the creator (a parent of the school), I have no reason to distrust this, but I don't think this is sufficient proof. As evidence you stated: "The license statement can be found online at: https://twitter.com/ApplefordSchool". Was this referring to a specific tweet which released the file? Can you find the specific tweet and share it? Auguel (talk) 18:00, 2 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Auguel. I deleted it as per the default instructions which set out the process if I dispute a proposed deletion. I have a letter from the Headmaster of the school in pdf format on a google drive. Let me know if this is not okay: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1De2zSDvCqWPicEr5-EPkZr9b__aXahVt/view?usp=sharing

Hi Rouseaubade, I can't access the drive as it requires authentication. Anyway, I posted the file at Wikipedia:Files for discussion/2021 December 4#File:Appleford School Logo.jpg for discussion of the license, you should reply there and possibly share the document there as well. Best. Auguel (talk) 18:39, 4 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, here it is: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1De2zSDvCqWPicEr5-EPkZr9b__aXahVt/view?usp=sharing

Unfortunately, this letter does not mention anything about the copyright status of the design, and the default legal status of any work in the US (and many parts of the world) is that it is under copyright if not otherwise specified. As such the design cannot be kept on wikipedia with a public domain license. Auguel (talk) 18:52, 4 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'll just draw my own. Crazy
Even if you draw your own you would still not own the copyright of the design, assuming it is a faithful copy of the original. However, I'm not sure why you want to keep this file on wikipedia so much. There is a mechanism for using a non-free file on wikipedia under fair use, and so you could switch the licensing of the file to copyrighted-fair-use, but this is only possible for files which are currently used in articles. The reason I proposed this deletion in the first place is because I uploaded a png version of the same file with a transparent background (File:Appleford School logo.png) which is licensed under fair use and is currently used in the article. Is this version of the file not satisfactory for you? I don't think there's any reason to have two versions of the same image on wikipedia? Auguel (talk) 22:09, 4 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oh I've misunderstood you all this time. Sorry for wasting your time. Thank you
