Branding more organized WP Meetups
Hi Saqib. I sometimes call our our meetups "Wikimedia NYC Salon", after the similar Creative Commons Salon and the general Salon (gathering) concept; perhaps we should create a new page at Wikipedia:Salon. Perhaps we should also open this subject up to general discussion at Wikipedia talk:Meetup--Pharos (talk) 14:36, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
- I somewhat agree with you on refering Wikipedin meetups as Salons however we can discuss to sought out my confusion :). I refer our meetups as Wikimeetup Karachi. As we discussed before, Wikipedians meetup solely organized for the purpose related to Wikimedia's projects and Free/open content but not general get to gatherings. By the way, you didn't mentioned anything for what I wrote you just before that. --Saqib talk 15:32, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
- I wasn't thinking of renaming "wikimeetups" so much as saying that there are specific kinds of wikimeetups, like Wikipedia:Salon and Wikipedia:Academy and Wikipedia:Wikipedia Takes The City, and to encourage the Salon model as the basic standard for start-up groups (Don't worry, I'll get back to you on the Commons thing soon.)--Pharos (talk) 19:03, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Jamal Abdullah Usman
A tag has been placed on Jamal Abdullah Usman requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Removing Speedy at Jamal Abdullah Usman
Hi there Saqib Qayyum! I saw that you added a {{hangon}} tag to a page which you created, Jamal Abdullah Usman. This is good, but in the process you removed the tag requesting deletion under CSD A7. Even though there is a hangon on the page, the deletion template should remain there. But don't worry, this doesn't mean that the page is going to get deleted. Make sure you edit the talk page of the page nominated for deletion, located at Talk:Jamal Abdullah Usman, administrators will look at your reason why the page should remain before they decide what to do. Thanks - SDPatrolBot (talk) 18:13, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
Hi! It seems you recently created an unreferenced biography of a living person: Jamal Abdullah Usman. Our verifiability policy requires that all content be cited to a reliable source. Please add references as soon as possible. Thanks! --LaraBot (talk) 00:10, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
Pakistan photo events
Hi Saqib. As you probably know, we started the first events of this kind with Wikipedia:Wikipedia Takes Manhattan, and there have been other efforts of the Wikipedia:Wikipedia Takes The City type, including recently Wikipedia:Wikipedia Takes Chennai. There are many different ways that such photo events have been structured; it is not at all necessary for you to follow as complex a "contest" system as we used in NYC. What we have worked with in the past is a list of photo goals (mostly buildings and other specific places), but you could also ask for photos about local culture, etc. It would also be good if you could find a judge (maybe someone from an, art, architecture, or photography organization) to recognize the "best" pictures. What User:Kaldari and other coders are working on now is a generalized photo event interface, which should hopefully be operational in a couple of months: see prototype --Pharos (talk) 17:22, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
- I study the types of photo scavenger hunts, we have on Wikipedia. But rather than for asking contributors to take photos of buildings and other specific places, or about local culture, I was thinking of images on local events happening around. Which could also be very useful for the educational purpose . What do you think, what would be better? --Saqib talk 17:40, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

Are you still in contact with Jimmy Wales? What is the venue of 2nd Karachi meetup? I am a journalist, should I attend this one? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 110.37.21.63 (talk) 16:06, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not in touch with Jimbo at the moment, probably after this meetup. By the way, you should attend this meetup, you can see we're still discussing on venue. --Saqib talk 07:41, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
Speedy deletion declined: John Rezner
Hello Saqib Qayyum, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I declined the speedy deletion of John Rezner - a page you tagged - because: Missing sources is not a reason for speedy deletion but for improvement (see WP:EP). Please review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging further pages. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. SoWhy 09:53, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
