Let us settle this before edit war

Why is your picture of henry fonda better than the one that was in the article before? - AH (talk) 01:55, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Mister Roberts is a far more famous film and one that fonda is known for. It was also significantly more commercially successful, and represents fonda at a height of his career and in his prime. - AH (talk) 02:21, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Generally, a picture of an actor in person is preferred - not in a military uniform even if it's just for acting. Also, picture quality matters. That Warlock picture could look like just a regular picture anywhere. Look up in other stars' pictures. Most of them are depicted in everyday clothes at its time. Also, that Mister Roberts picture has a poor quality. Thus, a publicity picture who depicts Fonda in person - just like a regular picture - is preferred and a good quality picture is also preferred. Also, taking this into consideration, I think it is unnecessary to caption the photo with the name of film corresponding to the picture. A simple 'Fonda in a publicity still, 1959' would work. Lemonreader (talk) 06:45, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Adding to this, a picture of Fonda in Mister Roberts has been added to article, but not into the infobox, but rather in a section detailing his postwar career, as a compromise. That way, people would still look up and read the article and recognize him from a movie. Lemonreader (talk) 06:53, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Henry Fonda, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mister Roberts (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Your GA nomination of Landmark (hotel and casino)

[edit]

The article Landmark (hotel and casino) you nominated as a good article has failed ; see Talk:Landmark (hotel and casino) for reasons why the nomination failed. If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of the article. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of Vami IV -- Vami IV (talk) 20:01, 17 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please note: the review has not failed. The article was moved from Landmark (hotel and casino) to Landmark Hotel & Casino, and the bot thought this meant that the abandoned review page (no such article any more) had failed. I have moved the review page to match the new article name, so a new "review" message may be generated below, and if the article moves again, more such messages may be generated. Sharon Tate

[edit]

Hey Lemon, are this three pictures of Sharon Tate freely to use? In any case they should be nominated for deletion correct? I am currently out of commons, but hope you could do something if they are not allowed, or change the licenses:

Greetings. TheBellaTwins1445 (talk) 16:16, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Their sources are unclear, one came from Pinterest and another one from Blogspot (which is not advised per Wiki standards), lack of clear license, and thus they should be nominated for deletion. I'll deal with these pics immediately, no worries. Lemonreader (talk) 02:36, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

James Stewart

James Stewart (1908–1997) was an American actor and military pilot. Known for his distinctive drawl and everyman screen persona, Stewart's film career spanned eighty films from 1935 to 1991. With the strong morality he portrayed both on and off screen, he epitomized the "American ideal" in the mid–20th century. This publicity photograph of Stewart was taken for the 1948 film Call Northside 777.

Sharon Tate

Sharon Tate (January 24, 1943 – August 9, 1969) was an American actress and model. During the 1960s, she appeared in advertisements, small television roles and as an extra in films, before appearing in her first major role as Jennifer North in the 1967 film Valley of the Dolls, which earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination. That year, she also performed in the film The Fearless Vampire Killers, directed by her future husband Roman Polanski. On August 9, 1969, Tate and four others were murdered by cult members of the Manson Family in the home she shared with Polanski. She was eight and a half months pregnant at the time of her death. Her last completed film, 12+1, was released posthumously in 1969. This publicity photograph of Tate was released by 20th Century Fox for Valley of the Dolls.

Hi, There is a question about the source of this file on Commons:Featured picture candidates/File:Marilyn Monroe photo pose Seven Year Itch.jpg. I hope you could answer. Thanks, Yann (talk) 13:16, 8 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I don't remember exactly where I got the file aside from that it was from the Internet, but I interpreted Derived works and restorations of works in the public domain as meaning that every copy of any photo that has entered public domain that has not been derived significantly as lacking sufficient right to copyright protection. If I'm wrong (hence my apologies), then we should probably revert it to an earlier version, though I'm unsure on the source of the earlier file and I'd rather not make assumptions. Besides, the earlier file differs as in having more exposure/brightness. Thanks. --Lemonreader (talk) 03:44, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
