Thank you!
Thank you for your generous offer of assistance, Rich. I plan on reaching out again within a few days to ask you a few questions related to my article and citation protocol. Transportation17 (talk) 02:57, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Transportation17: I did not offer assistance with your draft, the message left on your talk page is if you had questions about the move from your sandbox to Draftspace.
- If you have questions relating to your draft, you can ask them on either the Teahouse or the AfC Help Desk - RichT|C|E-Mail 18:48, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
Weep Not, Child—Novel Review
Hi, Rich!
Thanks for the note on the relocation of the above draft. I have no qualms and appreciate your guidance.

The problem had already solved
Dear Rich Smith
The problem had already solved.
Best regards
Jessie

- @Jessie GYU8: Glad to see you worked it out. However, please note I did read your previous message. I would have been unable to do anything as I'm not an administrator. I have special privileges which allow me to mass-create accounts, but can't do anything with blocks/unblocks.
- Also, you MUST make a paid editing disclosure if you wish to continue your plan of creating an article about your company. This is non-negotiable and forms part of the Wikimedia Terms of Use.
- Also, you company will need to meet the notabiliy standards for companies and have references from multiple reliable sources that are independent from the company, so no press releases or interviews - RichT|C|E-Mail 09:16, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
- Also, don't use AI to write things... your previous message is full of it - RichT|C|E-Mail 09:18, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for reminding me, Rich. I will use AI as little as possible Jessie GYU8 (talk) 09:27, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
- I understand, thank you Rich. Beside, can I ask how to unblock my IP and who should I contact with? Because the email told me to contact with you solve this problem. And how can I pay for the editing disclosure? Thanks for your reply! Jessie GYU8 (talk) 09:34, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
- You are logged in, the IP block doesn't matter if you are able to be logged in.
- @Jessie GYU8: You dont pay for a disclosure, read WP:PAID, the instructions are there - RichT|C|E-Mail 09:36, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for your help, Rich. I will read that carefully. And I hope you will have a wonderful day! Jessie GYU8 (talk) 09:41, 22 April 2024 (UTC)

- You can nominate your favorite tools for the fifth edition of the Coolest Tool Award. Nominations will be open until May 10.
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 23 April. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 24 April. It will be on all wikis from 25 April (calendar). [2][3]
Future changes
- This is the last warning that by the end of May 2024 the Vector 2022 skin will no longer share site and user scripts/styles with old Vector. For user-scripts that you want to keep using on Vector 2022, copy the contents of Special:MyPage/vector.js to Special:MyPage/vector-2022.js. There are more technical details available. Interface administrators who foresee this leading to lots of technical support questions may wish to send a mass message to your community, as was done on French Wikipedia. [4]

Hi @Rich Smith thank you for welcomed. I am a page editor for Wikipedia Italy. Wikipedia gave me access to the Wikipedia library and the Beta version of the account. So I take this opportunity to translate some pages about my city. And a page about me, present on other Wikipedias. If I need to make any "conflict of interest declarations" let me know. Thank you.
Have good time. Autunno2022 (talk) 10:37, 25 April 2024 (UTC)

Tech News: 2024-18
Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- The appearance of talk pages changed for the following wikis: Azerbaijani Wikipedia, Bengali Wikipedia, German Wikipedia, Persian Wikipedia, Hebrew Wikipedia, Hindi Wikipedia, Indonesian Wikipedia, Korean Wikipedia, Dutch Wikipedia, Portuguese Wikipedia, Romanian Wikipedia, Thai Wikipedia, Turkish Wikipedia, Ukrainian Wikipedia, Vietnamese Wikipedia. These wikis participated to a test, where 50% of users got the new design, for one year. As this test gave positive results, the new design is deployed on these wikis as the default design. It is possible to opt-out these changes in user preferences ("Show discussion activity"). The deployment will happen at all wikis in the coming weeks. [5]
- Seven new wikis have been created:
- You can now watch message groups/projects on Translatewiki.net. Initially, this feature will notify you of added or deleted messages in these groups. [13]
- Dark mode is now available on all wikis, on mobile web for logged-in users who opt into the advanced mode. This is the early release of the feature. Technical editors are invited to check for accessibility issues on wikis. See more detailed guidelines.
Problems
- Kartographer maps can use an alternative visual style without labels, by using
mapstyle="osm"
. This wasn't working in previews, creating the wrong impression that it wasn't supported. This has now been fixed. [14]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 30 April. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 1 May. It will be on all wikis from 2 May (calendar). [15][16]

This expansion to the API is also available via Wikimedia Cloud Services. [20]
