Bebo Kobo (2)
Hi there -- you've protected this article indefinitely -- can I ask that you downgrade it to semi-protection, or put an expiration date in place? Indefinite full protection seems excessive: there's a brand-new editor removing information without good justification, that's the only problem here. As a Hebrew speaker, I'm happy to vouch for the sources in question -- they verify the content. Nomoskedasticity (talk) 13:36, 24 June 2021 (UTC)
- As soon as there is a consensus, either for including or excluding the information in question, I will drop protection. Given that it has been a few days and there has been almost zero movement on the discussion front, I'm not inclined to set a specific timeframe for dropping the protection (as it forces me to be more vigilant of the discussion and remove it when necessary). Additionally, unless I am mistaken there were ExCon users that were warring, so dropping the protection to Semi would not do any good.
- Either way, I am watching the article's talk page, and am happy to evaluate any edit requests that are made. Primefac (talk) 16:23, 24 June 2021 (UTC)
- I think one issue is that you protected it indef, rather than a week or two. That is usually reserved for articles where escalating protection didn't work. Sir Joseph (talk) 16:33, 24 June 2021 (UTC)
- This is a slow-burning edit war, with the last half-dozen blanking edits going back six months; this is the primary reason why I went with an indef over any shorter of a timeframe; the disruption would likely just start back up again after it expired, and I wanted there to be a firm consensus before that happened.
- Regarding full protection, I took another look at the editors involved and cannot find the blanking editor that was ECP; I now suspect that I had clicked the wrong contributions link. Some of the registered users are close to being autoconfirmed, but in the meantime I will drop the protection. Primefac (talk) 16:39, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

Follow-up RfC to TFA PC protection trial
Hello Primefac, could you (or someone else stalking this page) please start a follow-up RfC to Wikipedia:Village pump (proposals)/Archive 178#Pending-changes protection of Today's featured article? The BRFA that implemented the one-month trial which you approved is here: Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/AnomieBOT III 7. I would start it myself, but I am a noob when it comes to RfC's, and I don't want to drop the ball. — Goszei (talk) 08:08, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
- It was Narky Blert's idea originally; other than approving the bot trial I have had no involvement in the matter and do not feel it would be a good idea to be the "figurehead" so to speak of an RFC in which I would likely not even participate normally. Primefac (talk) 11:04, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
- OK, I suppose it's up to me then... Narky Blert (talk) 11:26, 26 June 2021 (UTC)

Dear Primefac, Regarding the page for Ali Mozaffari more independent sources (BBC Persian Service, SBS, New Eastern Europe, Radio Farda, etc) have been added to the text. Thanks for your attention. --Malekfarugh (talk) 23:47, 23 June 2021 (UTC)

Appealing the closure result of this TfD entry
Hi, I believe the no consensus result of the above TfD entry is inconsistent with the content of the discussion. The nominator proposed two methods to stop transcluding the template. There was a clear majority in favor of stopping the transclusion: 3 and a bit (me, GKFX, Izno and likely 67.70.27.180) to 1 (Pppery) and Nabla was not voting. Although the specific method to apply had no consensus (because Izno preferred a delete), I think we could call it a "win" for the transclusion stop, especially because GKFX countered well Pppery's arguments and because the number of articles is not very relevant as it can easily flop between sides. Furthermore, Pppery did not reply to defend his arguments or raise new ones in what seemed to be a concession. What was your reasoning behind the closure? Alexiscoutinho (talk) 16:36, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

Systematic disruptive editing, provocations of edit warring in Wikipedia by user Лобачев Владими
@Primefac: Hello, thanks for your comment, but how is it possible to deal with these disruptive users who want to rewrite the Lithuania-related topics according to non-online Cyrillic (Russian-Belarusian) sources and again and again perform edit warring? This report: Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/3RRArchive436#User:Лобачев_Владимир_reported_by_User:Pofka_(Result:_) resulted in nothing despite a lot of evidence provided by myself and another user Rgvis. I do not know how to deal with them apart from edit warring with them non-stop, but I do not want to violate rules. Also, please pay attention to what Lithuanian topics reviewer Sabbatino stated at Wikipedia:Arbitration. He noticed their disruptive, coordinated editing as well. -- Pofka (talk) 13:21, 28 June 2021 (UTC)

- Consensus has been reached to delete all books in the book namespace. There was rough consensus that the deleted books should still be available on request at WP:REFUND even after the namespace is removed.
- An RfC is open to discuss the next steps following a trial which automatically applied pending changes to TFAs.
- IP addresses of unregistered users are to be hidden from everyone. There is a rough draft of how IP addresses may be shown to users who need to see them. This currently details allowing administrators, checkusers, stewards and those with a new usergroup to view the full IP address of unregistered users. Editors with at least 500 edits and an account over a year old will be able to see all but the end of the IP address in the proposal. The ability to see the IP addresses hidden behind the mask would be dependent on agreeing to not share the parts of the IP address they can see with those who do not have access to the same information. Accessing part of or the full IP address of a masked editor would also be logged. Comments on the draft are being welcomed at the talk page.
- The community authorised COVID-19 general sanctions have been superseded by the COVID-19 discretionary sanctions following a motion at a case request. Alerts given and sanctions placed under the community authorised general sanctions are now considered alerts for and sanctions under the new discretionary sanctions.
Hi,
could you change the protection level of template:Metadata Population DE-RP from Edit=Require template editor access to Edit=Autoconfirmed, please? --Septembermorgen (talk) 11:43, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
- Honestly, not super-inclined; there have been all of a dozen edits in the last three years and none of those based on edit requests. It seems like this template is updated only every once in a while, so the occasional edit request is not going to be a huge burden. Primefac (talk) 12:41, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
- None of the edits in the past 11 years, since the existence of the template, have been vandalism. Your are prohiting those people from editing who update this template regularly. --Septembermorgen (talk) 13:34, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
- It is a high-use (and thus high-risk) template that has been edited less than 50 times in those 11 years. That being said, not quite sure why it got the protection level upped from ECP... Primefac (talk) 17:48, 3 July 2021 (UTC)

Need for help
Hello Mr. Primefac. I hope you are doing well. A user named A.A Prinon is misbehaving with me and is also threatening me that he will get me blocked. Can you help me in this regard? It would be extremely nice if you had helped. Waiting for your reply, friend. Thanks. Chynapras (talk) 09:53, 9 July 2021 (UTC)
- Primefac, please ignore this message. They have started personal attacks on me, and I just warned them. How can they say it "threatening". Please see [1]. They are saying that I should have shame. So, I just warned them to stop, how can it be a "threatening". I am just getting them familiar with our policies. Thanks. — A.A Prinon Leave a dialogue 09:56, 9 July 2021 (UTC)
- A.A Prinon, I know you mean well, but I think it's time to let Cynapras be for a bit. You're both new users, and from what I'm seeing in this discussion you're close to beating a dead horse with regard to the issues you have encountered. Throwing around vague "you'll be blocked" warnings to a user a month newer than you might seem helpful, given your own edit history, but it does come across as inappropriate.
- Chynapras, on the above note, though, please do take in mind the general comments brought to your attention. If you are being reverted multiple times for edits you make (especially if it's from multiple individuals), there is always the possibility that you are making unhelpful contributions.
- It's always a good idea to discuss the issues and try not to get heated in situations like these. Primefac (talk) 19:30, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- Mr. Primefac, thank you very much for your wise decision. Appreciate you and your much needed wise decision. Thanks for your help. And Mr. Prinon, mind your own business. If I have wanted a help from my brother like senior editor, what's the problem here? Why are you telling him to ignore my message? I thought our rivalry ended but you don't seem to leave me alone. MR. Primefac, could you please tell or warn Mr. Prinon to leave me alone? It would be another great help from you. Thanks. 👉Chynapras👈 (talk) 19:42, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- And Mr. Prinon was the first who started to threat me by saying he will block me. You can see our replies by using the link Mr. Prinon left above. Thank you. 👉Chynapras👈 (talk) 19:43, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- And Mr. Prinon is also misinterpreting me. I didn't tell him to have shame. I just told him that it's a shane cause me, as a junior than him, told him that it's a shane that he's getting a speech from a junior editor like me. Cause, he made a mistake himself and told me to learn real vandalism. He was supporting vandalism like he didn't know anything cause everyone knows Ben Stokes is not a regular captain. I just edited the vandalism to correct one and he, reverted back my edits to the vandalism and was telling me that I learn real vandalism first. 👉Chynapras👈 (talk) 19:48, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- And one last word for Mr. Prinon, you used the word block just to threat me. Nothing else. Mr. Primefac, please don't believe his silly lies. I have proof. 👉Chynapras👈 (talk) 19:50, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- I've been watching your talk page and know exactly what's going on, so please don't feel like I'm being persuaded or hoodwinked in any way. Primefac (talk) 19:52, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
Mr. Primefac, I just want to end this rivalry and this matter with Mr. Prinon. I already apologized to him but he didn't stop. You can see on my user page that I apologized to him. I just want to end this matter here. That's all. But I just hope that everyone gets juctice, including me if Mr. Prinon did something wrong with me or Mr. Prinon should get justice if I did something wrong with him. That's all. That's the end of the matter here. Thank you. No more wars or fighting. Peace! 👉Chynapras👈 (talk) 19:59, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
Hi there! Is there away to get the first names to show first on this template? I think its the only one that seems to have last name first. Thanks! Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 02:07, 5 July 2021 (UTC)
- Sure, though I'm pretty sure the specific bit of code is actually in {{FIBA player}}. Primefac (talk) 12:14, 5 July 2021 (UTC)
- So the FIBA player template has to be changed? Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 20:45, 5 July 2021 (UTC)

Help with expansion depth limit
Hi Primefac! I've recently been made aware (link to talk message) that my edits to {{Infobox administration}} (and the two child templates, /seal and /seal/if) appear to have exceeded the expansion depth limit, thus categorising all transclusions of the infobox template in a tracking category. Request for undeletion
Hello, I am the Wikimedian in Residence at the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland and we have been working with a university to train some students in how to edit Wikipedia. We are working with local museums to expand or create new pages for their museum/heritage site. One of the pages created as part of that training was - https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Aberdeen_Treasure_Hub which you deleted with a G12 - from what I can tell there was some possible copying instead of surmising some of sources. Would it be possible to either:
a. restore it so it could be used as a teaching moment for the students on how to correctly surmise and not violate copyright. As soon as it is restored I will go in and fix whatever copyright issues might exist and we can use it as a teaching moment.
b. if it was too bad in terms of copyright, could I get a copy of the page and we will start again from scratch using that copy as a discussion point. Thank you. DougRM (talk) 16:03, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

- I have never used the tool, so I likely know just as much as you do. I would start with reading through User:Qwertyytrewqqwerty/DisamAssist, and if that's not enough to figure it out maybe try asking at the help desk or Teahouse. Sorry I can't be of more help. Another favour regarding infobox country at games
Hi there, is it possible for the officials to display above the medal totals? It sort of looks out of place under the medal totals. Can the title of officials also be renamed to officials/coaches (or another name that encompasses both of them)? From reading team releases they seem to be clumped into one group. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 23:17, 17 July 2021 (UTC)

admins or editors
Hi Primefac, since relistings are allowed not only by admins but also by regular editors, why did you revert my edit which changed administrator to editor? I'm not angry about it, just curious. Let me know! Dr. Universe (talk) 19:15, 20 July 2021 (UTC)
- The paragraph in question at WP:XFD is discussing deletion discussion in which there is no or minimal participation. It is perfectly appropriate for any editor to relist a discussion under these circumstances, but in the case where it is
evaluated by the closing administrator as an expired PROD
, it is being evaluated with the intention to delete the page. Now, the closing administrator may decide that "an expired PROD would not be deleted" and relist the discussion, but since the other option is "delete this page" then an administrator is the only one that would be making that evaluation. Non-free images being transcluded by template
Hi Primefac. Is there some way to stop the four non-free files being discussed User talk:JJMC89#Transclusion of non-free files here from being transcluded into User:SalFromOuterSpace/sandbox that doesn't involve completely or partially blanking that user's sandbox. -- Marchjuly (talk) 08:10, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
- My immediate thought is to just blank the page because there's no reason for them to be transcluding those pages. My second thought is to just
noinclude
the images, which I've done in the meantime. JJMC89 might have other ideas. Primefac (talk) 10:07, 22 July 2021 (UTC)- Thank you for taking a look at this. I tried WP:NOINCLUDE with one of the images, but it didn't seem to work. I probably just messed up the syntax somehow since it seems to have worked for you. I also thought about blanking the page since the only edits made with the account were to that sandbox, but I wanted to see if there was another less intrusive option first. -- Marchjuly (talk) 20:47, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
- What you did should have worked for that image; I'm guessing that there was a cache issue when you went back to that sandbox which was why it still showed up. I guess (to look at the question of "why did the user do this") it comes down to why they did it; I see little to no valid reason to transclude an entire article to a sandbox and then do nothing with it, so if there were such a case with many different pages or many images it would probably make more sense to just blank the offending transclusions. Primefac (talk) 22:01, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
- The “cache issue” probably explains why it didn’t work for me; I should’ve tried purging the page. My bad. As for the other thing, I agree with you, but thought it might be a bit BITEy to blank the sandbox so quickly at the time. At this point, though, that probably makes more sense given that it’s been almost a week and there’s no indication given why such a thing was done in the first place. — Marchjuly (talk) 23:01, 22 July 2021 (UTC)

- Thank you for taking a look at this. I tried WP:NOINCLUDE with one of the images, but it didn't seem to work. I probably just messed up the syntax somehow since it seems to have worked for you. Bot mistake
Hey, Primefac. Check for two mistakes the bot did on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 (diff) and Part 2 (diff), where it wikilinked Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in the infobox title. —El Millo (talk) 03:30, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
- Also on Harry Potter (film series) (diff), wikilinking Harry Potter in the infobox title. —El Millo (talk) 03:33, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
- It's an edge case that I thought I had taken care of. I'll see if I can tweak my code further. Primefac (talk) 09:50, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
The bot converted part of the filename text in the Infobox image field into a wikilink, breaking the image in the Infobox. See Down on the Farm (1920 film)([2] diff) —Lent (talk) 04:54, 26 July 2021 (UTC)

Template:Syrian Civil War template box discussion
Hello, I was wondering if you could remove the semi-protected status of the Syrian civil war template. I would like to make some edits to the template (specifically, adding one more campaignbox for the time after the second Idlib offensive, as there hasn't been much fighting), but I cannot, since I am an IP and I also cannot make an account for various reasons. It would be greatly appreciated. 2601:85:C101:C9D0:CD24:7951:BFD1:2004 (talk) 15:44, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
- I can understand your interest in helping to improve this template, but I do not think I should be removing that protection; the primary reason for this is because of the number of transclusions and the fact that this is exactly the sort of template that originally prompted the semi-automatic protection of templates with more than a certain number of transclusions; the pages to which it is transcluded would be perfect targets for something inflammatory or inappropriate for the vandal to change, with a huge disruptive factor. I think your best option is to make edit requests on the template talk page. Primefac (talk) 11:23, 31 July 2021 (UTC)
Template:User ocd
Hi Primefac. I'm pretty sure Template:User ocd qualifies for speedy deletion, but I'm just not sure which criterion. It's possible this user was attempting to create a WP:UBX in good faith; however, it's also just as possible (based upon some of the edits the account has made so far) that this is someone just messing around and was created for no purpose other than to be a WP:VOA account. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:09, 1 August 2021 (UTC)
- I actually do not believe it qualifies for any sort of speedy deletion, as even WP:G2/test would be stretching it. I do, however, agree with you that it's some sort of good-faith attempt to make a userbox, which I've now moved to their userspace. Primefac (talk) 11:54, 1 August 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you for looking at this. Whatever they were trying to do with that template, they seem to have found Template:User OCD and used that instead. Whatever was going on probably doesn't matter now since they've been indefinitely blocked and most likely aren't going to be be coming back anytime soon after posting this. -- Marchjuly (talk) 12:20, 1 August 2021 (UTC)
- Ugh. I did wonder why no one had created a "this user has OCD" userbox, and I can't believe that I didn't think to check the all-caps version; I suppose the alternate would have been to redirect the "ocd" version to the "OCD" version. Oh well, your point about coming back from this makes the situation rather moot. Primefac (talk) 13:39, 1 August 2021 (UTC)

Help needed for Module:Country alias
Hello, I am from bnwiki. If you have time, please take a look at this: I recently imported Module:Country alias on bnwiki. We use Bengali numerals there, so i did a little bit of modification[3]. Everything is working but for some reason {{flagIOCteam|ROC|২০২০ গ্রীষ্মকালীন}}
(২০২০ গ্রীষ্মকালীন = 2020 Summer) isn't working there, even with {{flagIOCteam|ROC|2020 গ্রীষ্মকালীন}}
. My understanding of lua is almost zero. Could you please help me to fix it? I think, We need to convert ২০২০ গ্রীষ্মকালীন
to 2020 গ্রীষ্মকালীন
(e.g. like this). but i am not sure in which line i need apply the convert module. Please feel free to edit following page:
- bn:Template:FlagIOCteam/পরীক্ষা পাতা (test page)
- bn:Module:দেশের উপনাম/খেলাঘর (Module:Country alias/sandbox)

- I really apologise, but I have zero idea how to make that work, as my understanding of Bengali is almost zero. If I had to guess, though, I doubt it's an issue with the "2020" variants if it's working in other places. Could it possibly be the "ROC" that is either not translating or mistranslating somehow? Lincoln High School, Tallahassee, Florida
The 1967 date for closure appears to be inaccurate. The article for the school shows a monument which shows the dates of its operation from 1869 to 1969. The year 1969 is also consistent with other efforts to desegregate the Florida school system. redaction of my comment
Am I even allowed to know who did it? Or is that sort of basic decency forbidden by WMF? DuncanHill (talk) 23:40, 8 August 2021 (UTC)
- Depends on the situation, but most of the time I would say "no" (unless you see an edit by an OSer that immediately follows a suppression, which more often than not indicates who removed the content). I've replied at GN's talk explaining my actions. Primefac (talk) 23:54, 8 August 2021 (UTC)
- It is grossly uncivil to redact somebody's comments and not let them know who did it or how to appeal. Nearly as bad as lying to someone, and far worse than calling them names. I've replied about the other thing there. DuncanHill (talk) 00:23, 9 August 2021 (UTC)
- Everything OS-related, particularly how to file a complaint, is at Wikipedia:Oversight#Complaints. Primefac (talk) 00:27, 9 August 2021 (UTC)
- Ah, I must have missed you telling me about that when you redacted my truthful comments DuncanHill (talk) 00:31, 9 August 2021 (UTC)
- I find it highly unlikely that any OS member that does a suppression is going to post an entire template's worth of comments every time they suppress something, since the entire point is to not draw attention to something (and OSPOL isn't exactly a secret page). Primefac (talk) 00:35, 9 August 2021 (UTC)

While we're on the subject, just how many of you are monitoring my edits? It was a very fast redaction , much faster than any far more obnoxious posts I've reported to Oversight. DuncanHill (talk) 00:41, 9 August 2021 (UTC)
- I can honestly say that I do not recall a time when I looked at your edit contributions, even tonight. Someone came into #wikipedia-en-revdel connect on IRC, asked for suppression, and I obliged. A page like GN's likely has a large number of watchers, which is how that individual saw your edit. Primefac (talk) 00:45, 9 August 2021 (UTC)
- Ah, the off-wiki places to deal with on-wiki issues. Without any on-wiki discussion, and with nobody on-wiki being allowed to know who did it. "Someone" presumably being someone who thinks the kind of attacks I and BHG have endured were justified. I know you'll never let me know who "someone" is. DuncanHill (talk) 00:53, 9 August 2021 (UTC)
Telluraves template
How can I change this template? Template:Taxonomy/Telluraves
I need to change Inopinavis for Passerea according to the phylogeny of Braun & Kimball (2021). Prum et al. (2015) is a litte bit obsolete at this point.--Ornithodiez (talk) 00:49, 9 August 2021 (UTC)
- Is there any sort of consensus for this change/update? I'm wary of changing template families like these without a discussion to point to. Primefac (talk) 10:05, 9 August 2021 (UTC)
- I don't know if there is a consensus about Inopinavis, but we keep pretty updated the phylogeny of Neoaves and birds in general. I think that we reached a small a consensus with the phylogeny of Kuhl et al. (2020) if I remember correctly, so no novel clade like Inopinaves (only one study in 2015). It's very obsolete like Metaves or Coronaves and specially after Braun & Kimball (2021) that show many polytomies but "zones of certainties" (like Passerea). Hoatzin has always been extremely problematic so the same goes for this group Inopinavis.--Ornithodiez (talk) 18:05, 9 August 2021 (UTC)

Clarification of WP:AFCP permission decline
I was wondering if you could clarify this [4] decline you did of User:TrangaBellam's AfC permission request. Specifically, the part about having too many WP:DSALERTs. Could you clarify what you meant when you declined based on "multiple DS alerts"? Chess (talk) (please use {{reply to|Chess}}
on reply) 03:28, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
- Have you, Primefac, checked the validity of the issued warnings? ARBIPA is a highly contentious zone and most of the issuers have ended up blocked or topic-banned. (Administrator @RegentsPark: might have some thoughts.) TrangaBellam (talk) 06:04, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
- The latest two warnings are from Learn Indology and Kylo Ren III. The latter apologized for mistakenly reverting me (and abusing the templated warning). The former has a history of edit-warring to push POV content and weaponising 3RR; see 3RR archives for multiple threads concerning him. It is to be also noted that the talk-page discussion was in my favor.
- Going back, there are two aggressive threads by Safron710 and অভিরূপ দাশশর্মা. Both have been indefinitely blocked on my request.
- Then, a warning by Run n fly, who has been since discovered to be the sockpuppet of a notoriously tendentious user (and blocked). Old users note that his previous username used to display the same behavior, I was subject to.
- Before that, two warnings by LukeEmily. We have colloborated in other articles since then and you can ping them to ask what they (currently) think of their old heat-of-the-moment warnings. TrangaBellam (talk) 06:25, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
- FWIW, I don't see TrangaBellam as a problem editor. Quite the contrary, actually. --RegentsPark (comment) 17:03, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
- I can take a second look. As far as the DS comment, I know that alerts are not any sort of indication of wrongdoing, but rarely have I found them placed as anything other than a warning. I will also note that at the time of the decline, a few now-blocked users were not blocked, so I cannot comment on that part because clearly there was no obvious wrongdoing on the part of said now-blocked editor. Primefac (talk) 17:09, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
- It was mainly concerning to me to see DS alerts treated as a warning in an official capacity when granting a pseudopermission. I get that DS alerts are basically used as warnings but officially they're not so it's concerning to see them sort of officially being treated as warnings. It also might cause systemic bias issues given that some groups of people have broader DS areas than others, e.g. all India related articles are covered under DS. Chess (talk) (please use
{{reply to|Chess}}
on reply) 17:30, 22 August 2021 (UTC)- That's fair, and I will keep that in mind going forward, though you will note that my reasons included other issues in combination with those DS alerts, so it was less of a singular issue and more of a "this is one of a relatively long list of things." That being said, though, I do get where you're coming from. Primefac (talk) 17:33, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
- That's why I only mentioned the DS alerts. Wasn't saying the decline was unjustified, just that I disagree with the DS alerts being factored into it. Chess (talk) (please use

User:Anaplastic large cell lymphoma
Hi @Primefac: Came across this while helping editor user:Joflaher at the Wikipedia:Village pump (technical). They created the article and executed a copy from sandbox to the wrong namespace. There is also the main article in article space Anaplastic large-cell lymphoma and there is a redirect Anaplastic large cell lymphoma. Thankfully the redirect stopped the page move when I attempted it. I think you can probably just need a delete on the user, as the redirect and the main article look ok. Can you fix it please. scope_creepTalk 22:17, 16 August 2021 (UTC)
- It seems to be more complex, the revision history has been damaged. I'd like to draw your attention to the words at the top of the RFA talk page. "The RfA talk page serves to unclutter the main RfA page by hosting discussions that are not germane to the candidacy." Which rather contradicts the reason you gave for reverting me.
Worse, my edit wasn't irrelvent to the RfA. "Nazi" appears 45 times on the main page. It's the big talking point of the whole RfA. An alternative perspective on the candidates noNazi position ought to be valued. The candidate can ignore it if they chose, but there is always a chance they might find it a useful.
I'm not asking you to undo your revert. Under the circumstances it's most amusing, and nicly underlines part of my point. But do please try to be a little more thoughful in any future clerking - I'd expect better of even a veteran editor, let alone a crat. And while we're at it, if you are actually a crat, kindly consider displaying the fact on your user page like everyone else. Or at least that you're an admin - newer editors may not know what an overighter is. Thank you. FeydHuxtable (talk) 22:12, 9 September 2021 (UTC)
- A single sentence without context is meaningless; the sentence immediately preceding it finishes "
...sometimes discussions stray off-topic or otherwise clutter that page
. This provides the context for what should be on the talk page: things that are related to the RFA but are not necessarily appropriate or necessary for the engagement and further interest of the participants on the main page. Often these are criticisms of an oppose that end up going off-tangent, issues with syntax (generally bot-related) or similar. Your (self-described) rant offers little to nothing in the context of the RFA and thus has no place on its talk page. Incidentally, this is exactly why I chose the wording I did when undoing your edit. Primefac (talk) 22:49, 9 September 2021 (UTC)- (talk page stalker) @FeydHuxtable, hey, I believe you can make your point or case without the snarky remarks which come off as rather condescending. Furthermore this is not a helpful edit summary. Celestina007 (talk) 23:05, 9 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Celestina, I think you're really sweet, thank you for advising me. I'd already typed out my replay to Primefac before I read it, there's a good chance your point on condescendion will sink in later though. And yes in hindsight you're right that a non obvious ironic / humerous edit summary is rarely helpful on wikipedia. ( I don't really think we need to say anything more to each other at this stage, but in case you think differently, you're extremely welcome on my talk, I'd rather not post here again for a while.) Just thought I'd say thanks for starting the discussion. It's been on my mind for a while that it's a very inefficient way of doing things. Also, please don't take anything I say as being against the proposal to get rid of them – I agree we should – I just think it's worth having a very thorough discussion about the best way to do it. This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
You have shown interest in Eastern Europe or the Balkans. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.
For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

- Ironically, according to WP:AWARE solely being a member of ArbCom doesn't make you aware of the sanctions that ArbCom has authorized. You have to participate in a process about the area of conflict at ArbCom. I checked ARCA, Arbitration requests, and AE (the places mentioned at WP:AWARE) and you haven't been publicly involved in ArbCom cases related to Eastern European related issues in the past twelve months which means you're eligible for a DS-notice. Given your recent edits to FR Yugoslavia at the Olympics I thought I'd be the change I wanted to see in the world w/r/t DS alerting being applied fairly and throw a DS-notice at you (although you're right that I did forget to check the ArbCom members list; I initially thought you were an Arb but checked your userpage and you didn't mention it). I figured those edits were what it was for, since I knew I wasn't getting any edit wars or bad behaviour (and of course, as the DS says, this is a notice not a warning). Talk page banner bot?
Hi Primefac! I recently discovered that there are roughly 9000 pages that use {{Infobox university}} but aren't tagged with WikiProject Higher education. I'd like to set up a bot to go through and fix them all, but it's not quite as simple as using the AWB prepend function due to the presence of talk header and/or the project banner holder on some of these pages. On the Discord #technical channel, Izno vaguely recalled (although they weren't sure) that you may run a WP Adder Bot that could handle this. Is that the case, and if so, is this something with which you could help? Cheers, {{u|Sdkb}} talk 19:23, 4 September 2021 (UTC)

Hi. Could you please add also "Winter appearances" in Italy at the Paralympics, for example like is in Sweden at the Paralympics? Thanks --Kasper2006 (talk) 06:02, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- Done; Paralympic coverage is a little less consistent than Olympics coverage, so I'm mostly adding it as-needed. One suggestion I have, though, is that we probably don't need Italy at the Winter Paralympics as a standalone article; Italy at the Paralympics itself isn't very large and can easily handle the material from the Winter variant. appears to a not-so-veiled implication that Blablubbs is a sock. It's also irrelevant to the RfA. I would strike it, but not being a bureaucrat...--Bbb23 (talk) 18:08, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- Sorry, missed this in the bustle of yesterday. It's borderline inappropriate, and it probably is not in good faith (much like the accusations towards BU Rob back in the day), but the candidate has answered the question now so I don't think striking would be appropriate any more. Primefac (talk) 10:09, 7 September 2021 (UTC)
Variables
In the 4 languages I know the best practice is always to declare a variable where its first assigned. This makes reading the code easier as you don't need to jump from the a random location in a function to the top and it also makes you more aware of your code. Here is an example for Lua. Gonnym (talk) 15:27, 7 September 2021 (UTC)
- Interesting. As I said in my edit summary, the way I was taught (which I don't think hits four languages but it's close) was to initialize everything first, and only save mid-program initializations for throwaway vars like in for loops. Granted, that hasn't stopped me from occasionally throwing in a var halfway through a block of code just for the ease of it, and most of the programs I was writing (or teach kids how to write) were short enough that I guess one wouldn't really need to worry about too much jumping.
- I'm sure you'd be able to find just as many extant examples on-wiki of your method as I would be able to find of my method, so... how do we break the deadlock? Talk page watchers, any thoughts? Primefac (talk) 15:32, 7 September 2021 (UTC)
- Since you are handling this module and feel more comfortable with your style, that's fine by me so no deadlock here. Gonnym (talk) 15:37, 7 September 2021 (UTC)
- Cool, thanks. I'll give your way some consideration in the future, though, as I can definitely see the potential benefits for longer programs. Primefac (talk) 15:39, 7 September 2021 (UTC)

Some time ago you fixed a cut-paste move attempt at Dall sheep by moving it to Thinhorn sheep. old moves template
Hello. I hope you are doing well.
One year ago, I started to work on Template:Old moves/doc/sandbox, but then my computer died. I wanted to make some changes to the template, documentation, and maybe-possibly to the Module:Old move as well (with proper discussion/consensus). I was thinking about getting back to it, but found out old move, and old moves are being merged. Do you know how much time would it take to finish the merging? I will start working on my ideas in personal sandbox, as well as on txt file on computer. Also, after the merger, what will happen to old move module? Also, no need to ping, I've been watching your page —usernamekiran (talk) 13:24, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
- I've been the person slowly taking care of that merger. The main issue is that more manual work is required for the merger than anticipated. If you want to help out with the conversion feel free, otherwise I'll hopefully finish it in the next few months. --Trialpears (talk) 13:30, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Trialpears: I will be more than happy to chip in, I don't know how to do it though. I have used AWB, and quite good at it; and I am ready for the manual work too. Would you kindly tell me how to do it? —usernamekiran (talk) 14:29, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
- Let's see... It was a while ago I actually did work on this, but I believe there are two main things that need doing. First of all there are some template improvements needed. {{Old moves}} "support" both RM and MRV which should be added to the module. It can also link to relevant move logs and has collapse support (either for all or just a subset of RMs). Then there are the 400 odd pages that need updating. Most should be doable without the template updates (if I haven't already dealt with them, can't remember for sure), but it's probably more convenient to just wait so everything can be dealt with at once without tons of skipping. I have a decent AWB script, but by the nature of this template it isn't great and requires significant manual work with all the weird formats. I think the most helpful thing for me would be you helping out on the AWB run in a week or two when I should have managed all template changes, if you aren't super excited about module work. --Trialpears (talk) 23:53, 13 September 2021 (UTC)

Template:Idaho-geo-stub oddity?
So, in my (perhaps misguided) attempt to move Template:Idaho-geo-stub a level down into Category:Idaho stub templates; it seems that the transcluded pages now show up in Category:United States geography stub templates...which was not my intent at all...but I have tried at least 5 variations and they are still there...wondering if they really are NOT there? and it is some kind of purge issue? Any magic, "He who fixes all strange template issues"? - Mjquinn_id (talk) 21:19, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
- If you're saying that pages like Beaverhead crater, which transclude {{Idaho-geo-stub}}, are showing up in the category, then I think it might have been a cache issue from when it was using includeonly instead of noinclude, but I think your recent changes have fixed the issue. Primefac (talk) 00:20, 14 September 2021 (UTC)

page move
Hi Primefac, yesterday you put me down as a page mover. To be honest I had only requested it for my own use, but after you suggested to try and deal with some requests, I decided to have a go.
I saw this request at Requested Moves. So what I did was, I made sure the request was valid and uncontroversial, then I moved the redirect out of the way, then I moved the article without leaving a redirect, then I requested the speedy deletion of the redirect under the db-moved criterion, and then I marked the request as done.
Is that all correct? Anything I should have done differently? Thanks, Dr. Vogel (talk) 12:32, 14 September 2021 (UTC)
- The whole point of having page mover is that if there is a redirect in the way you can delete it without having to move it first. Primefac (talk) 12:34, 14 September 2021 (UTC)
- That's what I thought too. But when I tried moving the article over the redirect, it didn't let me. Dr. Vogel (talk) 12:35, 14 September 2021 (UTC)
- Gah, you're right; there has been a plan on the table for a while now to allow PGMs to delete redirect targets regardless of how many diffs there are, but I guess they haven't implemented it. In the future, the easiest way to deal with this with a page swap using the script. Primefac (talk) 12:38, 14 September 2021 (UTC)
- I see, this hasn't been yet implemented. We can only delete single-revision redirects regardless of target which was implemented per this RfC. I don't know any discussion about "deleting redirect targets regardless of how many diffs there are..". I wish this happens soon! ─ The Aafī (talk) 12:49, 14 September 2021 (UTC)
- Jeez, my memory is fading these days. That's what I was thinking of (clearly forgot that it was "regardless of target" not "regardless of diff count"). Thanks for the clarification. Primefac (talk) 12:54, 14 September 2021 (UTC)

Hi there, I was wondering if you could please revdel revision IDs 1044377587, 1044377488, and 1043596118 from Jack Dorsey. Thanks, Helen(💬📖) 22:44, 14 September 2021 (UTC)
- Done, thanks. Primefac (talk) 22:49, 14 September 2021 (UTC)
- One of these edits has an edit summary I tried to revision delete but the system wouldn't let me because it had been oversighted. Can you hide that, too? You'll know which one. I'm surprised oversighting edits doesn't remove the edit summary, too. Liz Read! Talk! 00:10, 16 September 2021 (UTC)
- It's not often that both the edit summary and content need suppression, so automatically doing both would be more problematic than helpful. That being said, it would be nice if admins could still RD stuff but I guess we can't get that granular when using radio buttons.
- And I've hidden it, for the record. Primefac (talk) 00:17, 16 September 2021 (UTC)
Help!
Hello, Primefac,
I hope you can assist with your technical knowledge. Draft:Testing is showing up on CSD G13 eligible pages (most recently on User:SDZeroBot/G13 eligible) and I'm not sure how to make it ineligible aside from making a dummy edit to it every 6 months. Should it be moved from Draft space to another area of the project? I don't think it's a mistake of SDZeroBot whose lists I work with daily...it's been operating since September 2020 and I haven't come across another page like this, one that is listed as eligible for deletion but apparently shouldn't be deleted. Thanks for any permanent solution you can offer. Liz Read! Talk! 00:07, 16 September 2021 (UTC)
- Last time it was used for dev purposes was '18, so I think it's safe to G13. If anyone needs it for those purposes they can recreate it. Primefac (talk) 00:13, 16 September 2021 (UTC)
- I appreciate your decisiveness! Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 02:55, 16 September 2021 (UTC)

Are you able to confirm why IMBD is not a reliable source? And why you've reverted each edit I've made to the article? I'm only trying to improve it and have never made a malicious edit on Wikipedia. Journalist . talk 19:52, 17 September 2021 (UTC)

Template spacing weirdness
Could you please take a look at this? I thought I understood at least the basics of templates until I started wading into this lua/template hybrid stuff lol

Rerun PrimeBOT 34?
Primefac, last year you created a bot to remove to cluttery tables from a bunch of college footbal articles; see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject College football/Archive 24#Overall record / Last meeting / Result tables. Seems that about 80 articles survived the purge or were hit with tables that replicated after the purge. Can we re-run the bot to wipe these last few out? Thanks, Jweiss11 (talk) 21:29, 7 September 2021 (UTC)
- Yeah, sorry, I kinda forgot to keep up with those runs. I've got a huge run going right now, but I'll see if I can fit in those low-30s tasks. Primefac (talk) 21:31, 7 September 2021 (UTC)
- I only see 1 page. Did someone else go through and fix them? If it was you, apologies for the delay, apparently 300k pages takes a bit longer to run through than I expected. Primefac (talk) 10:24, 18 September 2021 (UTC)
- Hmm, no. I removed a couple and then just cleaned up 2021 North Carolina Tar Heels football team, but someone else must have done the other 80. I figured you had run the bot! Jweiss11 (talk) 12:59, 18 September 2021 (UTC)

Please check this
Hello P. When you have a moment would you please check my work. In May of 2020 you created Category:Pages using infobox film with unknown empty parameters which a couple of us wikignomes have been chipping away at. Today I tried to create a corresponding cat for the Category:Pages using infobox person with unknown parameters. You can see it here Category:Pages using infobox person with unknown empty parameters. I have found that, in the same way that nature abhors a vacuum, editors are driven to fill empty fields so removing deprecated fields like residence and home town will help tp prevent that. I'm guessing that there are things I am unaware of to do these properly so any fixes you can perform will be appreciated. Thanks for your time. MarnetteD|Talk 15:55, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
- Done, the cat should start filling up shortly. Primefac (talk) 16:00, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
- Yep it is already filling up. I just knew there was an edit that needed to be made somewhere else :-) I notice that the infobox film cats are in Category:Film articles with infobox film issues. Should a cat like that be created for this new one? Many thanks for your help. MarnetteD|Talk 16:10, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
- Probably not strictly necessary, but I'm sure there are more category-savvy folks who will know the answer better. Primefac (talk) 16:13, 20 September 2021 (UTC)

Undo explanation
I think better images are available and, if not, I'll get them personally...just like I did this one. Thanks for removing the edit summary. Buffs (talk) 20:16, 20 September 2021 (UTC)

Edit by PrimeBOT
I see that with this edit, PrimeBOT removed two things from an archive of my talk page. The things it removed were a template generating an eye image, and something invisible. No harm has been done; but I feel that archives should be preserved, warts and all, as a record of what happened. Could you dissuade PrimeBOT from acting on pages with "/archive" in the name? Maproom (talk) 06:36, 22 September 2021 (UTC)
- Minor point, but it removed a unicode space and a template that is in the process of being deleted. If the template wasn't deleted, then it would show up in database reports for "pages transcluding deleted templates" and removed by someone else. If the template actually did anything other than provide a placeholder, I would have likely commented it out using {{t}}. Primefac (talk) 13:22, 22 September 2021 (UTC)

With regards to reversion on Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Sexology_and_sexuality
So what is the right venue, wording, and procedure for discussing what I think is a serious issue? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adversary argument (talk • contribs) 01:18, 25 September 2021 (UTC)
- If you are not the one that has contacted the Arbitration Committee, then you should know that this issue has been brought to our attention. If you feel a user is behaving inappropriately, then you need to indicate as such without linking to off-Wiki sites unless they have explicitly declared the connection. About new article
Hi @Primefac:, Please tell me, can i create a article of actor or singer or any artist which is going to debut in Bollywood sector which is covered by all reliable sources. Fade258 (talk) 15:10, 25 September 2021 (UTC)
- Assuming all the usual boxes are ticked, there's no reason not to create an article about anyone. Primefac (talk) 18:18, 25 September 2021 (UTC)
My question is what should I do in the future if I see an improper copy-paste again? Is there a place to report it to an admin, or is there a tag that I can put on it?
I saw that it had been copy-pasted in place of being moved, and I thought that this was improper, but I didn't see a way to flag or tag or report it. Robert McClenon (talk) 13:54, 26 September 2021 (UTC)
- A {{histmerge}} request is usually the best thing, as the reviewing admin will then be able to take the appropriate action; in this particular instance I was looking at a related category and noticed the issue. Note that if a single user copies their own draft, a histmerge request is not required and the draft can just be redirected to the article. Primefac (talk) 14:07, 26 September 2021 (UTC)
Alpha Phi Beta
Just curious, what was your reasoning for the "- UP College of Law" being an unnecessary dab? I thought it was needed given the contentious relationship between the group at UP and the splinter/separate group at San Beda College.Naraht (talk) 14:08, 26 September 2021 (UTC)
- Because there is no article or mention of any other Alpha Phi Beta that I can see; no need to dab what doesn't need disambiguation. If (and that's a big if) and when the draft gets approved, I don't see any reason why we can't have a redirect from the full name, but it doesn't need to be the full article title. Primefac (talk) 14:46, 26 September 2021 (UTC)
- That's just it, Alpha Phi Beta on its own doesn't specifically refer either organization organization, Alpha Phi Beta - UP College of Law and Alpha Phi Beta - San Beda Law are legally different groups. Alpha Phi Beta should (eventually) be a dab page, and each one should have a particularly worded "Not to be confused with"...Naraht (talk) 16:43, 26 September 2021 (UTC)
- Sure, eventually, if and when both groups have articles. At the moment neither one does, so it defaults to the shortest reasonable name that would describe the group. The opening sentence of the page can have the full title. Primefac (talk) 20:03, 26 September 2021 (UTC)

Hey, Category:Pages using infobox television with unknown empty parameters is almost cleared and was hoping you could remove these from a protected page: |rating=

field. Gonnym (talk) 08:09, 27 September 2021 (UTC)

Reg. Rapidball
Hello Primefac
There is absolutely no copyright infringement. I created the website rapidball.info because the inventor of the sport and creator of the original, official homepage, rapid-ball.com and rapidball.co.uk, is no longer around. If you tell me what exactly to put on rapidball.info to make it compliant with the Wikipedia license terms, I can easily do that. It seems pretty awkward to hamper access to relevant, objective information about this sport just because the same facts are stated elsewhere. For example, the rules of the game no longer exist elsewhere. So, how would anyone be able to describe those rules without extensive references to the site where they exist? I made it very clear that some quotes were taken directly from the site or from the book that I have also quoted (as well as on the homepage).
Let me know what to do exactly. Achrist (talk) 14:41, 1 October 2021 (UTC)
- With no explicit release of permission on the website, you either need to rewrite the draft in your own words (again) or follow the directions at WP:DONATETEXT. Primefac (talk) 16:28, 1 October 2021 (UTC)
