Snow Patrol: Eyes Open

Thanks Ryan, but I've reverted it back to an earlier version...like early July I think. Some arse vandalized it. 216.175.88.112

Why are you after me?

What did I do? 68.42.172.226 22:18, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Pathfinder

You don't put up articles for speedy deletion because something's wrong with them, you fix them. My colleague has done that. It's unheard of for a mainstream film article like that to be removed from the mainspace. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 10:45, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

The article's topic is completely appropriate. Alientraveller took the right step in blanking the overly long Plot section. The article will have to remain a stub until an editor with a vested interest comes by and improves it. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 11:19, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
I'm sorry, but you took the completely wrong approach in regard to addressing that particular film article. It did not start out life as a copyright violation -- someone saw the film and wrote about it excessively. That extraneous addition should have been addressed, not the article as a whole. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 11:35, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Mariah Carey

I removed the picture because it is an unfree image and the Mariah-Carey-article is a Featured Article! Reidlos 19:08, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

I don't know how to do it, can you do it? :-) Reidlos 19:13, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Marie Brennan

Per your recent comment at User talk:24.90.246.37: The anonymous user (not me) blanked Marie Brennan because it was a redirect to Moya Brennan, yet none of the incoming links to Marie Brennan were in reference to Moya Brennan. Blanking Marie Brennan was the wrong move, specifically, but removing the redirect was actually a positive contribution to Wikipedia. I'll go replace the redirect with a stub now. AIV report

Thank you for making a report at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators generally only block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. Thank you. In this case it was because 24.124.33.245 had only vandalized recently once, and hadn't done anything after the warning. Since an IP may change owners, it could well be someone else who originally used that IP to vandalize. If this IP continues vandalizing, re-report it and we will block it to prevent future vandalism. Thanks for your counter-vandalism efforts. Cheers!--Chaser - T 17:31, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Assume good faith

Please to not mark edits as vandalism as you did to Big Brother 8 (US) when the edits made are not vandalism, but edits made by good faith editors. Edit wars are not vandalism, they are just that a difference of opinion on what should be in the article. The article has a banner that says information may be posted before the episode airs. Thanks - Jeeny Talk 20:47, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. Could you please remove the vandalism warning you gave to User talk:Geoking66 as, this was not vandalism. Thanks again. - Jeeny Talk 20:57, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Your VandalProof Application

Dear RyanLupin,

Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that at this time you do not meet the minimum requirement of 250 edits to mainspace articles (see under main here). Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof.

Vandalism warning

Hi Ryan. In case you didn't notice, if a user has a level-1 warning, you should not skip ahead to level-3 unless the user has a level-2. You did this in warning this user recently. Users cannot be blocked via Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism unless they have received a full set of 4 correct warnings. Kind regards, Sebi [talk] 06:10, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

I'm sorry

I am very sorry, a 12 year old friend of mine loves Vanessa Anne Hudgens, and because rumor has it Efron is dating her, he wrote bad things about him...he also hated myspace and deleted his account so he also hates Tom.

           I am VERY sorry.

Your Work on Joseph McManners

I must say, RyanLupin, that your work on the Joseph McManners is extraordinary. I'm glad that someone so dedicated to Wikipedia knows so much about this talented young singer! *praises* - Keng

Please be careful when reverting vandalism

I just reverted your edit to The View. I'm guessing you had an edit clash with another editor, or something. The upshot (I think) was that you reintroduced vandalized text ... richi 22:19, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

That most certainly is vandalism, but check the edit history and you will see he did not insert that rubbish into the article. What he did do was revert a previous version, with the edit summary (rv vandalism), which took it back to a version where the vandalism you noted already existed. Moriori 23:18, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
No, if you look carefully at the editions, you'll see that he added that piece of text himself, it didn't appear in past editions. Ryan(talk/contribs) 23:22, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Excuse me. That vandalism was entered in the article on August 15 by User:122.163.222.139. User:Alan Liefting did not make his first of two edits to the article until September 5, three weeks later. Hi Ryan! I noticed you told an IP address (somewhere, too lazy too look it up :) ) that you had reported him/her to AIV. This isn't such a good idea, because they may be encouraged to vandalize more before they're blocked, or (if you link to AIV) to vandalize AIV itself. Thanks for reporting the user by the way. :) · AndonicO Talk 22:09, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Kind and Corteous :)

Hello there, Let me start by explaining why I made this "article" in the first place - I do no know if it ever happened to you that you did not know the meaning of a word you saw on the internet, but this happens to me occasionally, and I usually go to google, and look for "Define:word". How is this connected to Wikipedia you ask? Well, that most of the time I get results directly from wikipedia... so when I came across the term 'NTY' and did not find its definition for some time, I've decided to end this mix up once and for all, and an article - so that other people will not have this problem in the future..

What do you know.. as I made my first article, it was deleted just as easily :\

I am well aware that I am not familiar with all the procedures of creating an article, so I might have done something wrong.. You could have at least given me a day or so to defend myself..

p.s. left this also on the talk page of the person who did the actual deleting (which was since deleted by 3 more people at least)..

I'll try to add some more information about the deleted article:

Desired text:

NTY - Internet abbreviation, "Not Tested Yet", commonly used in open-source projects, when a person who is writing a changelog wants to specifically state that the change he made was not tested (and will probably be in the near future, by him or by someone else). Alternative meaning - No Thank you.

Bath Monastery

Hi,

We are a small religious order situated in the historic city of Bath and we have recently decided to add some of our terminology to wikipedia to enable other people to understand our order. However on setting up some pages, they were speedily deleted. We are very upset about this and feel that we have been subject to religious discrimination.

Brother Augustine

Brother augustine 22:11, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

(replied via user's talk)

The deletion was justified - Your article was deleting not as a direct attack nor was it religious discrimination. Your article violated wikipedia policy and was rightfully deleted. Please review wikipedia is not a dictionary and speedy deletion policies for further information. The article in question will only be accepted as an encyclopaedic entry if it's undergone extensive redevelopment so it doesn't 'appear' as gibberish to wikipedia reviewers. If you have any further enquiries, feel free to leave me a message. You know where to find me RyanLupin (talk/contribs) 22:23, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your speedy reply. We are going to put a team of brothers onto public relations. Hopefully, they will be able to create a page which is suitable for your worthy encyclopedia. We hope that we have not caused any offence since this is my first attempt at creating wikipedia content and I am well into my 80s. Hopefully, a new novice will be more suitable for this task. I apologise for any inconvenience this has caused you.

Idiots on Wheels possible deletion

I just went onto Idiots on Wheels page and noticed you were considering deleting them, now i find this page extremely useful as i have done some reports on them personally for my multimedia class as we were studying video effects and editing software in which they were very useful because im a huge fan of their videos personally and i know many of my mates think so to, so please keep them on wikipedia

Cafe vs. coffeehouse

Hi, I'm an experienced editor, so my question is not if I can change it but how. I don't know how to change a re-direction. I can't add a cafe article because it redirects to coffeehouse.

Hi there. This article should have been nominated per {{db-notenglish}}, not {{db-nonsense}}. Just cause it's in a language you don't understand doesn't make it patent nonsense. ;-) Either way, if the author knows any English, they should pick up on this and make it right. If not, they shouldn't be editing here. - CobaltBlueTony 20:11, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Hello? Earth Here

Do you always respond to a new users request for help that way or what? Maybe if I dont know all the in's and out's you could have been kind and assisted. I thought thats what helpme the was for!!!! Dustihowe 16:06, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Did I or did I not help you? Did you expect me to create a userpage for you? I was being realistic, for someone who has no experience with coding should either leave their pages alone or copy bits of code from other peoples' pages (be sure to look for notes from users requesting that people don't do this) RyanLupin (talk/contribs) 20:48, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
No, you did not help me. You told me to leave stuff alone unless I knew what I was doing. You could have said, well what would you like to do with your user page and I will assist you. But, hey, thats just what I would have done. How do you honestly expect someone to become familiar with coding unless someone helps them??? Make sense? Dustihowe 17:49, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I said if you're unsure about coding, don't attempt it. Quite frankly, Wikipedia isn't MySpace or Bebo or any other personal site (WP:NOT#USER}. If you want to contribute to wikipedia, why not direct your attention to editing articles rather than attacking me and worrying about how pretty your userpage looks. Some of us have more important things to worry about than the way your userpage looks. RyanLupin (talk/contribs) 18:37, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
How are we supposed to learn coding if we dont recieve help? Thankfully, someone else is helping me so you can go do your little important other jobs. Dustihowe 16:56, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Enough with the personal attacks! I've already stated my point, wikipedia isn't solely about members' userpages and I had every right to decline your request for me to code your userpage. If you persist in attacking me further then I will take further action against you. Thank you. RyanLupin (talk/contribs) 16:58, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the help, but you misunderstood me.

I wasn't asking if I may or may not create an article, I was asking if any redirect would make sense. TheBlazikenMaster 19:15, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

hi

I've finished editing the page, all I did was clean up the article so it would meet Wikipedia's quality standards and so that it wouldn't get deleted. Because I don't know anything about the hospital, there really isn't anything else I can add. Thanks for the comment and welcome to wikipedia. RyanLupin (talk/contribs) 21:41, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

I marked this as spam becuase at the time all it had was the website address. It seems now that someone cleaned it up so if that was the case before i would of never marked it as spam to begin with! Yourname 21:41, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Hello, thanks for the comment, however, I suggest you read up on what is defined as SPAM because the only links that appeared in the article were links to references which is how articles on wikipedia are supposed to be structured. RyanLupin (talk/contribs) 21:46, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Joseph McManners

I see Tazengel added a link to the 'official' news forums. I'm not entirely happy with this link. First, the reference doesn't mention it requires registration and second, it mentions just the top domain instead of specific forum threads, which can mean a very long search. Also, any nutcase can set up a forum, so can you provide anything that shows this is a reliable source of information? It seems you are familiar with the site. Can you clarify? (Feel free to respond here, but please leave me a reminder note so I don't forget to check back for your answer). - Mgm|(talk) 20:37, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

The forum is Joseph's official news forum. The McManners no longer update www.josephmcmanners.com so new information is passed onto the forums to be posted. The only source to prove this is Joseph's MySpace http://www.myspace.com/josephmcmanners where the site is stated as his official site. The forum requires registration to protect the members, many of whom are children. However, on registration members have access to all the news and archives.
