Oh, come on. Tell me about the butterfly.

[edit]

I read the text about the defiant butterfly, and I was very much impressed with it, and would like to spread it's beauty. However, it'd be much better if I had some sort of source. So could you pleeeeeease tell me the answer to your challenge? You could always mail me at jobjorn@gmail.com if you do not wish to make it publicly avaiable on your (or my) talkpage.

(Pleeeeease?) Jobjörn 22:11, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The quote is from Level 7 by Mordecai Roshwald (the book is in the form of a diary. The quote on my userpage is from the May 31 entry; page 93 in the 1960 edition). Raul654 02:22, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you.
Now I must, howevr, find that book and read it... which, considering that Sweden's largest Science Fiction-store does not have it in it's online catalogue, might prove troublesome. :)

Melbourne Enthusiast

[edit]

You shouldn't have removed the reference to the Melburnian usage of gunzel. This infomation is correct (I live in Melbourne). Rejecting it as irrelevent is like saying that Australian English is non-sequitur because the articles main Englishes are British and American English. It's also as if Australia is non-squitur simply because each side of the Atlantic is more important or somehow (inherently) superior.Myrtone (the strict Australian wikipedian):-(

Aww. As I do not live in Melbourne, I wouldn't know, but perhaps one could edit the first mention of Australia to say "In Australia, and especially so Melbourne, ...". Now, as I'm writing this, I however notice the difference between railfan and tramfan and thus I agree with you that it should stay! Jobjörn 14:40, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Level 7

[edit]

Hello! I just wanted to tell you that I got my hands on Level 7 last thursday, and was finished with it on saturday two days later, by lunch. It was one of the best books I've ever read; thank you for bringing it to my attention. Jobjörn 14:58, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent. Next, you should try David Brin's [[Upl

ift Series]]. Of the (many, many, many) science fiction books I've read, Startide Rising is my favorite. Raul654 16:45, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also, since it's not explicitely mention in the book, you may be interested in knowing that the weapon described in Level 7 is probably a cobalt bomb Raul654 16:47, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi Jobjörn. I noticed your work on Central Organisation of the Workers of Sweden yesterday, and this morning I saw your name on the participant list at the project. Welcome! Always good to see another face around. Cheers. --Bookandcoffee 21:06, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

God dag! Thanks for creating some articles about Swedish politicians. I enjoyed reading them. Keep up the good work. Bye or vi ses. --Starionwolf 23:06, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tjena, I also like your articles. Cheers. Article19 07:02, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Have some questions/objections about your changes, but thought we would talk it out instead of me perhaps reverting something that turns out you had valid arguments for.

The template used to have sort of random parties listed (among the minor ones), so I put up critera on the talk page in order to get consistency for the parties listed.

You are perfectly correct when stating there are more than one communist party in Sweden, though I did not and do not know the other one (Communist Party) met the criteria I listed. All I know is it did not get ten votes in Swedish general election, 2002 (for parliament at least). If it meets the criteria anyway, then all is well, but would be great if you could source it on the templates talk page since atleast for me that info is not easily verified.

If you think the criteria atm are unreasonable, just suggest on the talk page what you think. Main point is so one knows where to draw the line and from there include all relevant parties. Ofcourse, the line should be set so one doesn't get a rediculous amount of small parties listed.

In regard to Folkpartiet, as you can see the leading name (not page name) of the party in the article was changed to Liberal Party of Sweden since it is supposedly the name they use internationally (claimed on the talk-page) and it is definitely the name Folkpartiet themselves use on their official webpage.

Not reverting anything atm though since as I said, maybe it is you who are more enlightened than me in these issues and can correct me. Martin Ulfvik 23:19, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for catching some of the copyright violations caused by this user. I agree that copyright violations must go, and I have deleted some as copyvios. However, we must assume good faith and not presume that all his images are copyright violations; instead I recommend listing images with a copyright tag that you don't believe on WP:PUI. I am doing so for the images I can find. Thanks! Stifle (talk) 22:23, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Believe, me I've assumed good faith. And I continue to do so. See the big header on my user page... my patience is never-ending. Anyhow, how many images did you delete and how many did you tag? I tagged a total of 8 images for speedy deletion. Jobjörn (Talk | contribs) 22:30, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have deleted 4 (the ones that had sources) and put 3 on PUI. The other one must have been dealt with by another admin handling CAT:CSD. I've also left the user a strong warning about the matter. Stifle (talk) 22:32, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Also be careful when editing Letterkenny to stay within WP:3RR. Stifle (talk) 22:33, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I found the eigth one - the one you thought another admin handled! That would be this one: Image:St. Eunans Cathedral Letterkenny.jpg. It features the same picture as Image:St.Eunans Cathedral Letterkenny.jpg and Image:LkCathedral.jpg, both of which you have already handled. Kill off the speedy deletion nomination and wait for me to find the picture's real source to kill them all three off? ;) Jobjörn (Talk | contribs), your very own newbie image-fragger. 22:59, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That has been handled by another admin. Really this time. :) Stifle (talk) 09:57, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hola comprade! Remember me and the images I hunted? They're all deleted except these three: Image:EunansCollege.jpg, Image:Lkennya.jpg and Image:St.Eunans Cathedral Letterkenny.jpg. As you may remember, I was unable to find these pictures elsewhere on the internet, and you instructed me to assume good faith and denied the speedy deletion request. However, the noble User:Dr Zak has tracked these down! Apparently, he was not as trigger-happy as me and instead listed them as "Possible copyright violations" - to which I must say, assuming good faith is nice, but that takes it to the limit. Yet, perhaps you could delete them now as they are obviously copyright violations? Or should I tag them again? Or should I just wait and ignore them? Advice from the Wise, please. ;) Jobjörn (Talk | contribs) 18:38, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jobjörn

[edit]

Don't vandalize this article again? How about don't call yourself an anarchist if you're really a socialist? The two are actually mutually exclusive. Because someone doesn't agree with you, Jobjörn, please don't accuse them of being a vandal. Be nice. PatriotFirst 19:49, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, don't vandalize that article again. You added complete nonsense. Jobjörn (Talk | contribs) 20:09, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again

[edit]

Wow. That was really insulting, Jobjörn. Thanks for the insult.

I can see how your patience is never ending. LOL. PatriotFirst 20:18, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

On the other hand, you have some very cool user boxes. Is it ok if I use some of them? Thanks, PatriotFirst 20:21, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm patient with new - and in this case, stupid - users, not with people who refuse to admit that socialism doesn't necessarily mean the Soviet Union. Of course you may use the userboxes! Don't miss Template:user Kleptobox. Jobjörn (Talk | contribs) 20:49, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gee, that's funny, I don't remember saying that "socialism means the Soviet Union"! Can you show me where I said that? I honestly don't remember that one! PatriotFirst 20:53, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently, you have no sense for similes. What I was referring to, of course: was this:
There is no such thing as libertarian socialism. It is an oxymoron. PatriotFirst 03:04, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
... which I am quite sure you did understand I was referring to. (For the record, libertarian socialism is still an ideology and not an oxymoron.) Jobjörn (Talk | contribs) 21:00, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, not really - there wasn't much to put in there, was it? Tabbed browsing helps, though. Get Firefox if you haven't already. ;) Jobjörn (Talk | contribs) 01:29, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

An award to acknowledge your extensive and detailed grasp of the utterly irrelevant  :)

You got a hole-in-one on the quote :)

Next time I'll be trickier, but I want to see if anyone else can tag the quote you left behind Doc Tropics 02:26, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you edit picture of fidel castro?

[edit]

I included a picture of Fidel Castro falling and you edited it to suit your POV. Why would you do this? I did not give you permission to edit my pic. You also did not even ask if it was ok. Is that how you do business? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Yoyomama (talkcontribs)

Eh, I don't know what your talking about. What picture? When? Where? Who are you? Please be more specific. Jobjörn (Talk ° contribs) 00:18, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fidel Castro references and footnotes

[edit]

Why did you remove the two-column code ( <div class="references-small" style="-moz-column-count:2; column-count:2;"> ) from the article? You didn't give any reason. There are so many reference links that it would be better to list them in two columns. Works in Firefox, but not in IE6. ---Majestic- 14:07, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Eh, to be honest it was to make it easier to spot double refs. The references doesn't show when you preview; so I had to save it. And theeen, I forgot to edit it back. :O As such, it wasn't intended. Jobjörn (Talk ° contribs) 20:10, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How is knulla gränsen ? - FrancisTyers · 15:07, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That would be the literal translation, basically "have sexual intercourse with the border". "Knulla" isn't the versatile verb "fuck" is, and noone would ever say "knulla gränsen" - at least not in my parts of Sweden. Jobjörn (Talk ° contribs) 18:42, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

McHale maniac

[edit]

Someone keeps making changes to pages linked with John McHale and I saw you had reverted some. Its not just that they don't source but the language is very non-wiki. Can anything be done?Piersmasterson

All I've done has been reverting them at whining at the anon talk pages, having no effect. These days, though, I am without an internet connection, severely (or rather: completely and totally) limiting my ability to take care of that and other wiki things. You'll have to talk to someone else :/ --Jobjörn (Talk ° contribs) 16:14, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Revisiting the Cork-as-city primacy question
