Help

[edit]

A few days ago, I reverted an edit on List of conflicts involving the United Kingdom related to the Kandyan Wars---another user had changed it to say that the British had lost the war, when, in fact, there were maybe 3 wars of that name, and in none of them did the British lose (at least one may have been inconclusive). I didn't leave an edit summary---mea culpa. He or she reverted it back, claiming to have included sources on the Talk Page (I checked---they cited the Wikipedia page, which I believe runs afoul of WP:REFLOOP) and then reported me to the admins, under the, frankly, offensive thread title of "Paris1127 twists the History of various countries". Didn't even notify me that I'd been reported. Nothing like this has ever happened to me in the past ~decade I've been editing Wikipedia. I don't know what to do about any of this... It bothers me immensely. Paris1127 (talk) 07:57, 29 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I shall post to the admin noticeboard section that the editor started, explaining why the complaint about you has no merit. You have quite rightly posted an answer to his/her point on the article talk page, showing willing to discuss the issues, whereas he/she has shown unwillingness to do so. Continue to be willing to discuss the issues, and if the other editor continues to be unccooperative we can consider how to deal with that situation. If in over a decade of editing, with well over 11000 edits to your credit, nothing like this has happened to you before, you have done quite well. Many perfectly constructive editors have to put up with far worse than this through no fault of their own, because they happen to have the misfortune to cross the path of someone who responds badly to finding that someone disagrees with them. Don't take it personally: it reflects on the other editor, not you. Please feel welcome to contact me for furtehr help if it becomes necessary. And he's now reverted me 3 times. Currently writing a response to him on the talk page, but he doesn't seem to be interested in/understand how Wikipedia works. I'm sort of afraid to revert him, lest I be accused of conducting an edit war (note the edit summaries). Thoughts? Paris1127 (talk) 06:59, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
And now he's reported ME for edit warring. No notice, again. Paris1127 (talk) 07:39, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Help 2

[edit]

After his report to the admins was ruled to be without merit, the user who reported me kept trying to make his somewhat drastic change to List of conflicts involving the United Kingdom. I reverted at least twice and in the edit summary told him to discuss it to the talk page and let a consensus be made. He reverted me twice, and a third user who reverted him. The third user warned him about breaking the 3 revert rule. Now I suddenly find myself being accused of starting an edit war! And once again, I received no notice of this (he was specifically warned about this in the previous admin report)! This is unprecedented for me. I was most assuredly not trying to start an edit war, and I have attempted to reason with this user via the article's talk page and edit summaries. My reverts were made in good faith. I'm honestly unsure how to proceed. Paris1127 (talk) 18:11, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You can see my response to this in these edits: [1] [2]. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 19:06, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. That's quite the response he left on his talk page. Not sure how I feel about being accused about having henchmen, though... Or the implication that my edits had a nefarious intent. Paris1127 (talk) 21:43, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
