Hi there. I've seen you've made a lot of edits on cigarette brands, would you mind having a look at the edits i've made on the Peter Stuyvesant cigarette page and giving some feedback? Would be much appreciated. thank you.

Your addition of flags in infoboxes on weapons articles

[edit]

Hello. Please stop adding flags to the infoboxes, it is against WP:INFOBOXFLAG, WP:MILMOS#FLAGS, the documentation at TEMPLATE:Infobox Weapon and a longstanding consensus on military articles. Thank you. Thomas.W talk 20:15, 29 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits on AN-94

[edit]

Hello again. I have reverted your edit on AN-94 because there should be no flag in the infobox, and there is no use for a "Users" section unless the weapon is in service in several different countries. So please stop making edits like that. Thomas.W talk 20:42, 29 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your addition of captions to images in infoboxes

[edit]

Hello. Please stop adding captions to the images, they're neither needed nor desired. Since the articles are about specific weapons, with the name or model designation clearly displayed just above the image, there's no need to repeat the name one step down, below the image. Thank you. Thomas.W talk 13:26, 12 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I didn't explain myself well in my edit. The games etc are not "about" the weapon, it appears in them but they are not the focus., hence 'relevant'. As the essay Wikipedia:"In popular culture" content says "...should contain verifiable facts of interest to a broad audience of readers". Regarding verifiable - "... references leading to reliable sources." - they ought to be the reliable sources themselves. GraemeLeggett (talk) 13:16, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I just used a tool to fill in bare references.I got another tool to mark dead references. That is pretty much all I can do unless I start seriously working on a topic.Right now I do not have the time and motivation to put emphasis on the countless weaponry articles.I will keep making minor fixes though. You can use the same tools if you wish it is nothing special. Galleries

[edit]

I saw your edits to FAMAS and FN F2000. Since you're adding galleries to several articles I thought I'd write you here instead of an individual article talk page. You might not have seen Wikipedia:Image_use_policy#Image_galleries. It describes how to use galleries appropriately. If you look it over I think you'll see the problems with your FAMAS edit. It might be a better contribution to make sure all of those images are properly categorized at the Commons, etc., which are linked from the WP articles. It's not a big concern for me, but I saw you were inviting response so I'm letting you know the official policy. No worries. Rezin (talk) 20:15, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your courteous reply. Everybody seems to handle talk pages and replies differently - I don't know what the best method is. I guess what struck me most is that some of the images in the galleries I saw that you compiled was that they seemed repetitive - lots of pictures of troops or police personnel practicing or deploying while carrying the rifles, which are usually very small in the gallery images. It's interesting to see them in use, but most of them show them being used the same way so they don't cumulatively increase my knowledge. The pictures in an article should each add to the reader's understanding. OTOH, the Commons, Wikipedia's sister site devoted to storing pictures and other media, is a great place to post every possible picture of the rifles. There it doesn't matter if the photos are similar and the more the better. Anyway, no complaints from me. Oh, and by the way, thanks for your work on infoboxes. Those really help and I hate working with them. Rezin (talk) 22:08, 15 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

List of machine guns

[edit]

Hello. I wanted to ask why is it that you have removed the "type" section in the "List of machine guns" . I noticed that the edit description had "removing unneccesary information" however I disagree with that. I believe that specifying the type of machine gun isn't "unnecesary information" especially since it was already there. Since the edits are recent I thought it'd be better to ask you first about it instead of messing up your edits and getting in some unnecessary edit/undo situation. Addition of non-free images to List of cigarette brands

[edit]

Hi Matteo! Recently, you added a great many images to List of cigarette brands. Unfortunately, 45 of these images are non-free, and thus must comply with our non-free content policy and guidelines, such as WP:NFLISTS. Per WP:NFCC #10c, any use of a non-free image must have an associated non-free usage rationale as explained at Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline. None of the non-free images used on List of cigarette brands have such a rationale, making every use of non-free images on this article in non-compliance with policy.

More importantly, the Non-free image use in list articles guideline stands against such usage. We do not permit non-free images to be used in the manner you are attempting with these images. This article as it stands now uses more non-free content than any other of the 5 million+ articles on en.wikipedia. I'm sorry but we can't accept that.

The non-free images must go. But, I encourage you to remove not just the non-free images but the entire image column, since there is no possible way the column could ever be even 50% complete. I realize this is frustrating. Seeing your userpage, I get the feeling you've run into licensing issues before and have found it to be frustrating. I assure you there is no intent to interfere with your work. We're only trying to uphold our mission and policies.

If you have questions, let me know. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 15:21, 12 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article Dji Sam Soe 234 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable promotional article.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 01:55, 19 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free use of File:Aprilia RS Cube at Mugello 2002.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Aprilia RS Cube at Mugello 2002.jpg. However, there is a concern that the use of the image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. Details of this problem, and which specific criteria that the image may not meet, can be obtained by going to the image description page. If you feel that this image does meet those criteria, please place a note on the image description or talk page explaining why. Do not remove the {{di-fails NFCC}} tag itself.

An administrator will review this file within a few days, and having considered the opinions placed on the image page, may delete it in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion or remove the tag entirely. Deletion discussion about Maya (cigarette)

Hello, MatteoNL97,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Maya (cigarette) should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Maya (cigarette) .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Hello, MatteoNL97. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Austin (cigarette), for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Deletion discussion about Bali (cigarette)

[edit]

Hello, MatteoNL97,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Bali (cigarette) should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bali (cigarette) .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks,

re A-Style

[edit]

Yes, absolutely you may recreate this page. Ten years is more than enough time passed for a fresh start. I doubt anyone will give you a hard time, but if they do, tell them the deleting admin gave you full permission, and if that's not good enough, tell them to talk to me. Good luck with your contribution, and thank you!

(The new page might be challenged on grounds of its new content not being acceptable -- but that is an entirely separate matter.)

(I actually don't know what page you even mean, I don't find a page called "A-Style"; but it doesn't matter, all of the above applies). Herostratus (talk) 18:29, 17 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of A-Style

[edit]

Hello MatteoNL97,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged A-Style for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons. For more details please see the notice on the article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

[edit]

Hello, MatteoNL97. Thank you for helping to build Wikipedia-- the world's largest free content encyclopedia. I'm sorry, but  A-Style has been deleted as meeting WP:CSD#G11. "This applies to pages that are exclusively promotional and would need to be fundamentally rewritten to conform with Wikipedia:NOTFORPROMOTION." These must be rewritten from scratch from "reliable, third party sources unconnected to the subject." See WP:RS.

Wikipedia:Identifying blatant advertising#Typical signs of blatant advertising contains information about content to avoid. For more information on content that may be perceived as promotional, click User:Dlohcierekim/promo. These are just rough guides. Pages can avoid all those pitfalls and still be glaringly obvious ad copy. Sometimes pages meeting WP:CSD#G11 give the appearance of an editor violating Wikipedia:Conflict of interest or WP:PAID. Please read and heed them if they apply to you. Please read Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations.

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia-- subjects must meet notability guidelines with reliable sources that are unconnected with the subject and providing verifiable information. That generally means someone unconnected with the subject needs to have written a great deal about the subject. Please see Wikipedia:Citing sources . Template:cite has templates you can use in citing your sources. Place the template {{references}} at the bottom of the page, and references cited in the text will appear there.

If you want to try again, please use the Article Wizard or articles for creation to guide you through the creation process. The new user tutorial can help you avoid future problems.

You may find this tool useful: Google custom search Don't feel discouraged. My first attempts at creating articles were deleted too.

There is more information at Wikipedia:Community portal. There is help available at THE TEAHOUSE. Cheers, and happy editing. -- Dlohcierekim (talk) 11:45, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Grand Prix motorcycle racing sponsorship liveries

[edit]

Hi, I'm Elmidae. MatteoNL97, thanks for creating Grand Prix motorcycle racing sponsorship liveries!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. It may seem odd to tag an article with this many sources as "needs more references", but I notice that almost all the refs are for the table content, while the text paragraphs are unsourced. Can you reuse the same refs for these? - then please add extra inline cites. Otherwise, more sources are needed. Cheers!

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

'Manufacturer' column

[edit]

Hi, I think your latest changes are misleading, because now the column header says 'Manufacturer', while the table shows teams which still link to manufacturers. The Manufacturer column is, per its name, for manufacturers (Honda, Yamaha, ...), not for teams, and also, not all teams are directly linked to a constructor. You may consider other solutions, e.g. adding a column for teams, without replacing the manufacturers column. –Gpmat (talk) 15:31, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, as you add a column in the table, in the last row the colspan value should be increased by one, e.g. from 'colspan=8' to 'colspan=9'. Thanks, –Gpmat (talk) 08:15, 26 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Race Reports

[edit]

Hi. I see you've added some "Race Reports" to some MotoGP articles. I appreciate your thoroughness. but there are two problems with what you are adding.

  • It is far too much detail. Who is going to read paragraphs of details about every lap? I'm afraid this is indiscriminate fan cruft.
  • What you are adding appear to be your own personal commentary of events, based on videos of the race. This is original research, which is not permitted on Wikipedia.

Please try to limit your additions to a summary of the race, and cite sources that actually say what is in the summary. Thanks. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 13:45, 29 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Valentino Rossi, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page David Muñoz.

2020 MotoGP season

[edit]

I have reverted your edits, as there are a number of issues. First, the sources have not been cited properly leading to a Wikipedia:Bare_URLs warning being placed on the page. Second, the tone of the writing is not befitting of an encyclopedia entry. Please do not just directly copy text from a website, it should be put into your own words, or at least tweaked to fit the correct tone and tense of an encyclopedia entry. Third, most of this information is minutae which just clutters the page and is debatable if it is even necessary information to include in the sheet. None of these regulation changes have a significant impact on the operation of the sport. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Grdijk (talkcontribs) 21:35, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted your recent edits to various race articles. My main explanation is stated at 2021 Italian motorcycle Grand Prix. There are better sources that could convey the information that we want. There exists the official MotoGP website. I could feel that you're adding these links just for the sake of adding it, even if there isn't much information that readers could get from those progcover websites. In addition to that, another issue is your not citing of the URLs and just using bare URLs. You have already been messaged regarding this. Engr. Smitty Werben 10:27, 4 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Stylized team names

[edit]

Please stop using the stylized version of brands, like "IDEMITSU" or "ECSTAR", per MOS:TMSTYLE. It is not necessary that we follow what is written in MotoGP official documents because we have our own guidelines here in Wikipedia. Thanks. Engr. Smitty Werben 02:36, 30 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"Linkrot"

[edit]

Hi--adding a "linkrot" tag to an article is kind of a crappy move when you are inserting bare URLS in the same edit. Also, I removed a huge amount of Pinterest, Ebay, model car auction sites, and other unacceptable links from Camel (cigarette). Drmies (talk) 22:19, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi--I am well aware and that was a tactic I employed many years ago when I was still mainly active on the English Wikipedia and had no idea how to properly insert a link in an article. Truth be told, I still have no idea how to do it, so help in that department would be grateful on my end. OnwardToThePast (talk) 06:40, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello--well, Wikipedia:Citing sources has all the technicalities. An easier way to go about it is to go to Wikipedia:Citation templates, copy the relevant citation, fill out all the parameters you have, and blank the rest. But the other point I was trying to make is--well, we need reliable secondary sources, and those sites just do not meet the requirements. See Secondary source for the general point, and WP:RS for reliability stuff. Enjoy, Drmies (talk) 16:48, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, alright thank you for that, I'll check it out in the future if I will make new pages on this Wiki again. And yes I am aware as I created or updated some Wikipages on here years ago and was struggling to find something, did not really understand the rules of Wikipedia proper and just learned through already existing pages and applied it on existing or new ones. It worked, but the sources I used at the time arguably weren't the best. I've learned from that though since working on another language Wiki so I know what to look for and certainly what to NOT look for now. OnwardToThePast (talk) 18:47, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
