Transit of Venus, 2012

Hi RadioFan, I've removed your edit at Transit of Venus, 2012 as the wording was, to be honest, incomprehensible. I couldn't determine if 3,000 people attended a single event at MPSC, or if there were 3k events nationwide, or if 3k people attended events at MPSC, Adler and Griffith combined. This is compounded by the fact that the source you provided is not readily verifiable, or at least, I could find no online record of the Annual Report. If it is something distributed only to members or donors, then it may not be a source you want to use. Citation?

RadioFan:

You left several messages for me over the weekend regarding an edit I made to the Wikipedia subject Charles Bierbauer. In one, you noted the absence of a citation or source for the changes. I am Charles Bierbauer. I happened to have reason to check what was entered about me and found some things that were inaccurate or incomplete and fixed them. So, I would be an original source. No idea how Wikipedia deals with such.

It had been a while--several years, I suspect--since I'd last entered any item. It appears procedures have changed. I do not intend to be a regular participant. My only interest is that whatever is said about me is accurate.

Thanks for the response. Wikipedia is, or is supposed to be at least, built using 3rd party reliable sources. Edits based on original research or personal experience is frowned upon. It's vey different from traditional journalism or writing in that since. Also, editing articles that you are directly involved in is generally frowned upon. I've left some additional information on conflict of interest on your talk page. As a reporter for CNN, I'm sure you can appreciate ethical issues such as this. I'd be happy to assist you in editing this page, as a 3rd party. Could you point me to a URL, perhaps something on cnn.com that identifies the people you added to that article as a) being affiliated with CNN and b) being a part of the working media at the White House. I dont know why you have deleted the article "Mamaidev" because, Mamaidev was great Future predictor. He has stated past present and future of the world and should be known to the world.

If you don't undo the article, its better to delete my ID also. If you don't know anything about about Mamaidev, why are you here for edit others article.

If you search in Google, you will find number predictions of Mamaidev.

Either you undo the original full article or delete my ID.

bank stress tests - clean up

RadioFan,

I appreciate you helping tidy up some of the pages around bank stress tests. Trust me in the entire Project Finance we just don't have may authors willing to devote much time to "community efforts". We do the best we can on "form" but frankly are elated when anyone with any financial expertise attempts to share it on Wikipedia.

I want to make a case for keeping Bank stress tests since that works like a disambig or "list of" page. It's needed to cross reference major annual projects all over the world. We currently have EU and USA listed now, but are likely missing UK, Asia and perhaps others past the G20? I explain a bit more at Talk:Bank_stress_tests.

I see and appreciate your "annoyance" at stub articles that have just one URL link. (Those should have more, I agree, and there is more to have. Time is however short. ) Still, if you absolutely can't live with those stubs I'll go back to the disambig page Bank stress tests, add the URL's to that page (although that is a bit tortured also), and then delete those mono link stubs. If you can live with the stubs however I think that's the better way to go here, to create potential landing spots going forward. Rick (talk) 16:47, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

I'd agree completely with you that Bank stress tests should be a disambiguation article to make clear the difference between UK and US if (and that's a big if), there was a US article to link to. unfortunately there isn't. There were 3 or 4 articles by year but they were all single sentences with an external link. Perhaps you could roll those into a single article on the US flavor of these tests with some sort of content there beyond a single sentence. Expanding out into articles by year just isn't needed at this point anyway.--RadioFan (talk) 17:46, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

RaidoFan, There always has been a U.S. article that's been linked off the disambig page. see: 2009 Supervisory Capital Assessment Program (SCAP) It was created in April 2009. Back then in the U.S. it was called the Supervisory Capital Assessment Program (SCAP). As you may recall the financial environment was quite turbulent in 2008. The stress test idea gained traction and was instituted via the U.S. Federal Reserve in 2009. Oddly, there was no U.S. stress tests in 2010, however that year the Dodd Frank Act was passed. That Act mandated the stress test program in the U.S.. However it was renamed Comprehensive Capital Assessment Review (CCAR). Between the renaming of the program and the skipping of 2010 it's caused a great deal of confusion. Researchers need to be able to trace back through the program as its evolved (and rapidly evolving). They are also interested in how other regulators have implemented their stress testing programs. Some of the source this comes from Basel II and Basel III and related "global thinking". However its up to the individual country or region to put their own spin on things, mandate the tests, set the exact requirements, insure the tests are done, evaluate the results and take action to beef up banks that are weak in their jurisdiction.
