Better source request for File:MohammadAli.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 15:13, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jockzain; yes my information is correct, it was a genuine investigation conducted by Sixty Minutes in 1995 which found that the marriage had taken place in La Romana, not in La Vega which is the only area the magistrate could legally perform a marriage. This investigation can be easily cited and sourced on youtube. However, you seem to want it gone so I deleted it. [edit]

Hi again Jockzain; yes I will get the proper citation then and sorry for the misunderstanding. I might put it under a different heading though, maybe "Controversy Surrounding Jackson Marriage", or something like that? Just so it is more succinct and not slipshod. Is that ok? Lisa Marie Presley always maintains she was "married" to Michael Jackson in interviews, but if I can cite my source, will it be considered libelous? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bee Bee Coz (talkcontribs) 14:57, 1 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

What? (The World of Divergent)

[edit]

Hi. I think template {{what?}}, or {clarify}, suggests rewriting or finding a useful wikilink rather than outside citation. Anyway, that's what I meant at The World of Divergent: The Path to Allegiant a couple hours ago --a link to help with "jargon" as call it in the mouseover message. Teaser campaign may be the best we have but its focus is movies, heavily. --P64 (talk) 23:02, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I misread your tag on the article and thought it was "Citation needed" and added citations. You are right Teaser campaign sounds most suitable despite its heavy focus on films, how about we add some details about book teasers in it also.--Jockzain (talk) 23:23, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

WP:ITALIC

[edit]

Thanks for all your great work creating film articles. But could you please have a look at WP:ITALIC? People's names and the company names should not be italicized, while the names of publications like Variety should be. thank you, Shawn in Montreal (talk) 13:40, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the message. I wasn't aware of that, so thank you for telling me that. I will remember it from now on.--Jockzain (talk) 13:58, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
My pleasure. Now, this is just my suggestion, I can't find a rule for this, but I've worked on the doc side of things for years here and we tend to use "Synopsis" rather than "Plot" for non-fiction works -- I'd say it's implied by WP:PLOTONLY, which clearly addresses fictional works only. Anyway, I've begun to make that change on articles you've created, as well. best, Shawn in Montreal (talk) 17:24, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I agree your point of view about 2011.

But in 2013 cannes, your suggestion of separate section on India as official guest country may not be possible. Berlin International Film Festival (films in competition)

[edit]

Hi Jockzain,

I would like to know what are your references for the "Films in competition" sections in the "Berlin International Film Festival" articles ? I'm working on a statistical study about films in competition in the most famous film festivals. I noticed several contradictions as I compared the french, english and german Wikipedia articles with the lists edited on the Berlin Film Festival's official website. For instance : - in 1952, the official website lists only 3 movies in competition whereas the wikipedia articles list 9 movies. - in 1953, the french and german articles list 10 movies whereas the english article list 9 movies (The Boy Kumasenu by Sean Graham disappear). The official website only lists 6 movies. - in 1954, the french and german articles list two more movies than the english article (Rummelplatz der Liebe & Maginificent Obsession) and one less movie (20 mille leagues under the sea).

The problem is that there also are contradictions in the official website. For instance, The River (Jean Renoir) and Rashomon (Kurosawa) are not listed un the "Programme" section of the year 1952, but those tow films are mentionned in the "Yearbook" section, and are listed in the Wikipedia articles: https://www.berlinale.de/en/archiv/jahresarchive/1952/02_programm_1952/02_Programm_1952.html (films in competition) https://www.berlinale.de/en/archiv/jahresarchive/1952/01_jahresblatt_1952/01_Jahresblatt_1952.html (yearbook. Renoir et Kurosawa are mentioned at the very end of the article).

I don't know who to believe exactly ! I tried to contact the communication department of the festival, but they didn't answer so far. I see on your article that the official website has been your reference, so I wonder where do the incoherences come from.

Thank you very much for your answer, and thank you for your contributions! Sincerely,

Timothée.

re: User_talk:135.23.210.81#December_2014

I'm not quite sure how this is considered spam as our news site has had several links in articles to supporting information over the years. In this case, the films' articles say that they were shown at the Toronto International Film Festival. The link to a news photo gallery showing they were actually at the Festival only goes to support the info. Am I wrong in thinking that? Noor Jehan

[edit]

Please note that the famous singer Noor Jehan never did the minor roles in films for Ranjit Studio - films like Sasural. Please do not attribute those minor roles to her. She was a major star. If you lack this basic knowledge, at least do not edit the page on her. I corrected some wrong information on it, and you are giving back that wrong information. Note again - she was a major star in 1942-43, not a minor character. There was a different Noor Jehan acting for Ranjit Studio' films who did some minor roles. The two Noor Jehans are different. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.228.13.71 (talk) 14:08, 26 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Babra Sharif1.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Babra Sharif1.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Geniac (talk) 03:11, 21 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for using VisualEditor and sharing your ideas with the developers.

Hello, Jockzain,

The Editing team is asking for your help with VisualEditor. I am contacting you because you were one of the very first testers of VisualEditor, back in 2012 or early 2013. Please tell them what they need to change to make VisualEditor work better for you. The team has a list of top-priority problems, but they also want to hear about small problems. These problems may make editing less fun, take too much of your time, or be as annoying as a paper cut. The Editing team wants to hear about and try to fix these small things, too.

You can share your thoughts by clicking this link. You may respond to this quick, simple, anonymous survey in your own language. If you take the survey, then you agree your responses may be used in accordance with these terms. This survey is powered by Qualtrics and their use of your information is governed by their privacy policy.

More information (including a translateable list of the questions) is posted on wiki at mw:VisualEditor/Survey 2015. If you have questions, or prefer to respond on-wiki, then please leave a message on the survey's talk page.

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 04:55, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Untitled Woody Allen project a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. czar 05:55, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Question about opening films in Cannes

[edit]

Hi Jockzain, I see that in Dec. 2013 you inserted information about the opening and closing films in Cannes. The sources you gave are mostly from pages with historical videos of INA, though you have also included other sources where possible. In most cases the opening film is quite clear from the sources, in some others it takes some guessing. With closing films it takes some more guessing if all you had was the INA commentary age. Then after several months this list appeared in IMDb mirroring your edits. My question is if the online sources you stated are the only sources you have used or if you had also some other, possibly "non reliable" or printed ones that you haven't stated. The question is out of personal interest only, I wouldn't question any of your edits. Thanks. Hoverfish Talk 21:12, 9 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Oops! Actually I had to change the 1972 opening film as there are several good sources affirming it was L'Aventure, c'est L'Aventure. I see also a problem with the 1975, but I will have to search more. Hoverfish Talk 20:07, 13 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Survey Invite

[edit]

I'm working on a study of political motivations and how they affect editing. I'd like to ask you to take a survey. The survey should take no more than 1-2 minutes. Your survey responses will be kept private. Our project is documented at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:Wikipedia_%2B_Politics.

Your survey Link: http://uchicago.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9S3JByWf57fXEkR?Q_DL=56np5HpEZWkMlr7_9S3JByWf57fXEkR_MLRP_0kceRVyuxTj5qMR&Q_CHL=gl

I am asking you to participate in this study because you are a frequent editor of pages on Wikipedia that are of political interest. We would like to learn about your experiences in dealing with editors of different political orientations.

Sincere thanks for your help! Porteclefs (talk) 01:04, 12 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

The Writer's Barnstar
You absolutely deserve this for creating all those Pakistani film-related templates that I and other Pakistani film and music fans often use. Many thanks to you. Ngrewal1 (talk) 22:22, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Damselfilmposter.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:16, 25 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:17, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The file File:Le Petit Nicolas soundtrack.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free album cover being used in a decorative manner in Little Nicholas#Music and soundtrack. Non-free album cover art is generally allowed to be used for primary identification purposes in stand-alone articles about albums, but its use in other articles is generally only allowed when the cover art itself is the subject of sourced critical commentary as explained in WP:NFC#cite_note-3 and the context for non-free use required by WP:NFCC#8 is evident. There is no such commentary for this particular album cover anywhere in the article, and the use of soundtrack album cover art in articles about films or TV programs is generally not allowed for this reason as explained in WP:FILMSCORE.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:01, 6 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I know it might seem like I should fix mistakes myself but when people keep doing the same wrong thing over and over again, the only logical approach is to tag those mistakes and hope people will not only fix the errors but learn not to make them in the first place. WP:RELTIME is such a simple rule, the difference between writing news and writing for an encyclopedia but the mistake keeps happening. Unfortunately Wikipedia does not even include a spellcheck, even though it would benefit us all if it had a robot that helped to check all the rules. -- 109.79.187.138 (talk) 23:49, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Robert Pattinson, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Henry V (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
