Conflict of interest and username problems

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that the username you have chosen, "Icocofoundation", seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of something other than yourself. Please note that you may not edit on behalf of a company, group, institution, product, or website which relates to the entity in question, and Wikipedia does not allow usernames that are promotional or accounts that are shared. If you are willing to use a personal account, please take a moment to create a new account or request a username change that represents only yourself as an individual. You should also read our Conflict of interest guideline and Plain and simple conflict of interest guide, and remember that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. 69.181.253.230 (talk) 16:50, 16 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I note that the majority of your edits to Community cohesion appear to be copied verbatim from this page. This is a violation of Wikipedia's copyright policy, and your edits have been reverted. Please do not copy text verbatim from other websites to Wikipedia. Rather, use the other sites as a source, but write the text in your own words. Thank you. Talkback

[edit]
Hello, Icocofoundation. You have new messages at WikiDan61's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

I can assure you that the material is new to Wikipedia, I have spent hours and hours specifically preparing it. Only part of the material is similar to (my) previously published work and this is necessarily so as it contains substantial quotations about formal definitions - ie from the reports (some of which I also wrote) which are themselves central to this subject. The previously published work I have written is for me to use and is not copyrighted by the original publisher or myself. There is therefore no restriction on its use (which is presumably why the other webpage author felt able to use it). My edits to the community cohesion page are authoritative (I have written most of the published work in this area) and is specifically designed for Wikipedia. I do hope that this decision will be reconsidered and the update allowed

You have yet to address the conflict of interest and username problems. 69.181.253.230 (talk) 19:22, 16 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have already changed my user name from 'icocofoundation' to 'ted f cantle', even though the foundation is a registered community interest company under those strict rules and had no conflict. Also in the material posted for community cohesion I have written a very balanced appreciation of the arguments and debates around cohesion, in which no one publication or point of view is given any sense of privileged position. I have therefore attempted to comply with every aspect of the wiki guidance

Note: based on your comment above, that you have created a new account, this one is being closed as it is in violation of the username rules. Please remember to sign your posts in talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). -- Alexf(talk) 14:43, 17 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
