Good luck!! :D
That's very exciting! I wish you the best of luck, my friend, and will be keeping a close eye on it. Whatever happens, do not become discouaraged, or I'll have to beat some sense into you over the internet! Regardless of things that people may have already said, you would do well. -- Natalya 22:56, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- That's because you don't suck. You just got some unforuntate first oppose votes that have made it too easy for everyone else to oppose. I'm sorry it's not going so well. :( I've never been a fan of withdrawing RfAs (just a personal thing), but if you did now, you could always come back the third time and compare how civil you have been since then, which would be fine, I'm sure. -- Natalya 23:48, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'm sorry it didn't work out, Highway. But hey, there is a positive side to this! As opposed to your first RfA, now you really only have one thing to work on, as you've certainly got everything else down. I bet in two or three months, if you've stayed really civil, and worked on resolving disputes, and have a lot of good examples of it, you'll be a shoo-in candidate. I know that you can do it, that is, if you still want to (don't go running off the Wikipedia now!). Drop me a line when you're feeling better, -- Natalya 12:03, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Supportive note
Just saw your RfA and thought I'd note that i think you've been doing some great stuff. However many of the oppose votes do make a good point. For example:
- "Some people say Fight fire with fire, but I say Fight fire with water. A long period of consistent good humour will help a subsequent RfA. Stephen B Streater 09:55, 28 July 2006 (UTC)"
There is no doubt this can be remedied in the future. People do take note of changed behaviour.
For me this edit was actually worse than the swearing. That type of response is not constructive and can really initiate a long negative interaction. Try and reply positively, even if you have to count to ten or lie. An admin needs to facilitate non-productive editing towards productive editing. patient explanations of what they are doing is more helpful and will foster a fun editing environment. Some of your interactions do exactly the opposite.
Hopefully these comments will be viewed constructively. Feel free to ask for candid, but friendly, opinions if your are in doubt. In summary i see much more positive than negative from you as an editor. Unfortunately your negatives are a turn off for many, but can easily be reversed by 3 months of good editing. David D. RfA closed
Hi. I went ahead and closed the RfA as you requested on the Bureaucrats' noticeboard. I hope this is OK, even though I have previously being involved in the dicussion. I thought that you would prefer for it to be closed now, rather than having to wait any longer. Cheers TigerShark 11:21, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- Although I opposed your RfA, this does not have to be the case in the future. If you keep a cool head and re-apply in a couple of months time I should have no qualms in supporting you. Hope you aren't too down about the result, being judged by your peers is never easy but it is a good thing to learn from. Good luck and good editing. ViridaeTalk 13:54, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- As last time, I would echo Viridae's comment above. Please don't be despondent but try to learn from the criticisms made. You are a great editor; keep up the good work. --Guinnog 13:55, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
Your RFA
Highway, as I see it, the main issue here is your attitude to new users/users who disagree with your opinion. In the past you've given some very unhelpful and sarcastic responses to other people. Even if what they're saying is complete rubbish, you need to get rid of this "you don't know what you're talking about so it's Ok for me to insult or ignore you" attitude you have, as it's totally the wrong attitude an admin should have. Also, you are undeniably very confrontational at times. People are going to be intimidated by you if you act the way you do now with admin powers, and I fear you would use that to get your own way, which is not on.
I do acknowledge your work on the various Pokemon articles you edit, and an FA is certainly something to be proud of. Also note that I've never actually had a conflict with you myself, so my comments weren't out of spite or revenge or whatever. -- Steel 14:40, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- You had an RfA? How did I not notice that? Hmph. Too bad it didn't go through. And that mop was so close...--the ninth bright shiner talk 00:40, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Possible Electabuzz Evolution
I notice that you always remove any mention of the unnamed Pokémon from the Electabuzz article. I think you should reconsider. You are correct in your statement that any connection between these Pokémon is at this point speculation, but consider the following analogy.
Let's say that here in the real world, a new species of bird is discovered. This species shares many characteristics of the extinct dodo bird. Now, scientists have captured a specimen and research is being undertaken to determine the link, if any, between these two species. While this research is still underway, somebody creates a section under the 'Dodo' article mentioning the new species and the possible link. This information could be useful, pertinent information to someone studying the Dodo. Additionally, the Dodo article is the first place someone will look when trying to find the article about the new, unnamed species.
Similarly, when someone is looking for the article on the new, unnamed Pokémon, the first place that they will look will probably be the Electabuzz article. Also, anyone interested in Electabuzz will almost certainly be interested in the new Pokémon. I know that I personally am putting off training one until I find out if it does receive an evolution. Should the new Pokémon be listed as Electabuzz's evolution in the table to the right side of the article? Definitely not. However, I would claim that the aesthetic similarities between the two Pokémon warrant a mention of the new Pokémon within the Electabuzz article as long as the mention makes clear the speculative nature of the connection. Clearly, I'm not the only one that feels this way.
Although I don't appreciate the biting sarcasm you often put in your comments when you edit a page, thanks for all your hard work on Wikipedia, especially on the 4th generation Pokémon. Overall, the articles are clearly better for your vigilance. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.118.34.154 (talk • contribs) .

Dear Colton, please remain calm when editing, as other editors may have different opinions than you, which is both allowed and encouraged. Wikipedia is built on both mutual thought, and out going thinkers, and we need both to function, so please let other editors voice their views and ideas. While the current version of the article follows the MoS closer than the prior version, many infrequent editors become accustomed to a previous version of an article, and prefer over the updated version. If you disagree with these changes, please calmly explain your rationale on either the talk page or the editor's user talk page. Thank you, Highway Return to Oz... 20:26, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
- I understand your point. I overreacted. It just irritates me when someone waltzes in and destroys the hard work I put in making the article better. The way I had it was more encylopedic. There is a policy against "video game guides". All of the data on techniques and Pokémon is irrelevant to the article. When will there be too many? When there are 50 to list, or 100? You know what I'm saying? I'll try to be more calm with this in the future. Thank you for your advice.--Coltonblue 20:32, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
DYK - Boy Scout
My question/inquiry was just that, not a complaint about your actions. I think I understand what took place, I was just inquiring as to whether, since there seemed to have been some miscommunication, that on the next admin update, it could be considered. Succession boxes
True, it is reduntant, but the succession information is almost illegible on many pages, akward at the top if you wish to read about every Pokemon in order, and many similiar succession boxes on other pages have the information in the top info box and the botton succession box such as George H. W. Bush. BLong 11:37, 30 July 2006 (EDT)
Green stress level is good, other RfA things
I'm glad to see that your stress level is in the happy green (Esperanza! Yay :) section, and that you seem to be doing well after your RfA. Well done on handling it so well. Also, on the "off chance" that I were to...... renominiateyouforadminshipifallgoeswellinacoupleofmonths, do you mind if I keep a page of diffs with lots of examples of respectful and civil behaviour on your part? I don't imagine you'll mind, but wanted to check... figured lots of good diffs in response to your last RfA will certainly help...... if I nominated you... *shifty eyes*. What? Hi again Highway, Thanks for participating in my RFA! Ultimately, no consensus was reached, but I still appreciate the fact that you showed up to add in your two cents. Hey there! I noticed that the Torchic article doesn't have an image of the card from the old pokemon card set. Does the article need it? Kirby manga image
Sometimes it is not a good idea to hide images. The Kirby manga image had been deleted because it was orphanned. I told the author that the image was deleted so he would re-upload it.
WhisperToMe 16:05, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
IMO next time I would tell the person who uploaded it about the hiding and/or listing for deletion - Sometimes people are unaware of what happens to their images. I understand why it was hidden now :) WhisperToMe 16:12, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
AFAIK it's impossible to undelete images. Once it is deleted, it's gone.
Anyway, the author has either a copy of the actual book or the image on his computer. He says he is looking for it. WhisperToMe 16:19, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
The image itself may have the name of the author. IMO that should be enough. BTW, I found this http://kirby.classicgaming.gamespy.com/multimedia/pictures/manga/other5.jpg WhisperToMe 16:20, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
I archived it :) WhisperToMe 18:11, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
And I found out how to restore the image - go to wiki.riteme.site/wiki/(name of image) - there would be a "Restore" button with a box for one's reason to restore :) WhisperToMe 18:14, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I'd like to suggest that you not remove the noms of others early, even if clearly ineligible. Comment on them, sure, but leave it for the admins to choose or not... In this particular case it might have gotten expanded before expiring off. Happy editing! ++Lar: t/c 18:12, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Finishing Touches
Hi. I noticed you were really active with video game articles and I was wondering if you could give me a few pointers for the article I was working on (Empires: Dawn of the Modern World). I wanted to bring it up to good or featured status. It was just added to wikiproject computer and videogames (it hasn't received a rating yet), and I'd like for it to make a good first impression. Right now I'm adding links for it, but what else do you think I should add to make it better? I'd appreciate it. --Clyde Miller 21:13, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Despite it being the lead news article of last month, there is still help required in the assessing of articles and the migrating of comments. Lar is willing to provide assistance to those unsure how to do this.
|
As mentioned in the Project News section, The Beatles article has just been listed for a review of its Featured Article status. Working on this is quite important. If you've just joined, add your name to the Participants section of Wikipedia:WikiProject The Beatles. You'll get a mention in the next issue of the Newsletter and get it delivered as desired. Also, please include your own promotions and awards in future issues. Don't be shy! Lastly, this is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue (Issue 005 – September 2006). Any and all contributions are welcome. Simply let yourself be known to any of the undersigned, or just start editing!

Complete To Do List
Make visible or invisible by clicking Show or Hide, respectively.
As the project is currently just starting, our more experienced editors are working on the project infrastructure, classifying articles, and listing/assessing red links. Your assistance is welcome. If you would prefer to just edit - and why wouldn't you? - we have a choice selection of red links to turn blue and articles to clean! Now let's get busy.
If you complete one of these tasks, please remove it from the list and add your achievement to the project log. |

Re: Council/Assembly/Bleh
It's actually officially Council now, since the poll finished. The Council has previously held meetings on IRC, but we are working on using Skype to have them now, because it allows anyone who is part of the chat see all of the messages, even if they are not online, which is nice, since having Council members in many different time zones makes it somewhat difficult to schedule meetings at convinient times for everyone. -- Natalya 16:56, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
