Just get started, as you have! Use the Wikipedia:Sandbox to get a feel for using the editing features, browse the links you received when you started - I still use them a lot (a lot!) and I personally find that the more I need to edit, the more features I find. There are only a few or "no-no's" ... and mostly things are OK if you are polite.
