[edit]Hi HFHarding! Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. |
Thank you
[edit]Thank you for putting the citations with their facts in the Hamish Ogston article. However, since I had gone to all the trouble of looking up all the URLs and turning them into valid citations, it would have been nice if you had used the clean citation templates rather than duplicating the bare URLs that had been in the original article. I have updated the page with valid citations. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 22:07, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
Guidance?
[edit]Thank you. Would you be able to point me in the direction of some guidelines on how to turn bare URLs into valid citations? Been studying how you've done it and think I've got it but would love to know more. Thanks! HFHarding 22:50, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
- There are a number of citation templates that make the process uniform across all of Wikipedia. If you're citing a website, use {{cite web}}. If you're citing a news story (either print or online), use {{cite news}}. For a book, {{cite book}}. (If you click on each of those links, it will bring you to the documentation page for the given template.) General help about citations can be found at Help:Citing sources.
