- Why can't I edit Wikipedia?
Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.
- Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?
Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again.
- What can I do now?
If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you may consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.
If you do intend to make useful contributions here about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:
- Add the text
{{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
on your user talk page. - Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
- Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.

Request reason:
I had made an unblock appeal and the User Fluffernutter got back to me with the following - Hello GulfCryoKuwait, I have reviewed your unblock request and I will not be able to unblock you. Your username appears to represent a company or group, which is prohibited in our username policy. This is for two reasons: first, because our licensing requires all edits to be attributable to one person, which is complicated by an account that represents a group, not an individual; and second, because a username representing a company or group can be considered an advertisement for that group - an advertisement that's re-posted every time that username makes an edit. In addition to the issue of your username, you were blocked for promoting business interests on Wikipedia - adding either spam links, advertising material, or biased content supporting a business, product, or group - and that is a violation of our spam guidelines. As long as we have reason to believe that you will continue to behave in a promotional manner, the administrators of Wikipedia will be unable to unblock you. Please also take a moment to read our Conflict of Interest guideline, and keep in mind that no matter what your username, you must adhere to our neutrality and sourcing policies. If you believe you are now able to edit according to all Wikipedia policies, you may file a new appeal with this system and request a change of the username of your current account. To do this, you must explain to us how you plan to change your editing to conform to our policies, and then tell us what you'd like to change your username to; at an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a username change request according to these instructions. Fluffernutter English Wikipedia Administrator I clicked the link that said SEDN A RESPONSE BY CLICKING HERE, I did but it said that my appeal has been closed as the administrator reviewing your appeal feels the matter is resolved but I want to explain to you the fact that I would like to post on Wikipedia. Dear Fluffernutter, I would like to thank you so much for reviewing my unblock request. Firstly I would like to clarify that I have no intention of advertising or promoting any interest of Gulf Cryo Kuwait in anyway using Wikipedia. I would like to post information about its history and current business for ‘knowledge source’ purpose only as is done for many other companies on Wikipedia. I apologies if anyway it seemed like a promotional article. I would appreciate if you can advise and assist with how I can go about this. 1) Username Policy – I am sorry about the Username representing the company name, I assure you that I am the only one person who will be editing this page and if given a chance will change the Username and see that it adheres to the Username Policy 2) Spam – I have no intentions of advertising, I will rework and edit my content and word it in a way that it does not look like promotional content. I will edit it to be purely informative and remove all links that would be against the policies of Wikipedia. I would like to keep my Username as InfoLynn. Please consider this appeal of mine thank you so much (GulfCryoKuwait (talk) 08:18, 16 April 2014 (UTC))
Decline reason:
Partly procedural decline; when you have been blocked for a promotional username violation you must propose a new name using {{unblock-spamun}}. Second, though, you indicated you wish to continue editing about the company. See the query below, read this and consider if this is something you can do within our policy. — Daniel Case (talk) 15:21, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Here are a few key questions:
- Do you understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and not a business directory?
- Do you understand conflict of interest?
- Do you understand that to be considered for an encyclopedia article, the subject must be notable?
You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the 3 important principles above. Daniel Case (talk) 15:21, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
