Talk to mEee !

[edit]

About Monika Seles again, I`m telling you that she was born in Ostojicevo for sure and she made her first tennis steps in Novi Sad.Neuboysha (talk) 14:45, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Zimonjic

[edit]

Please feel free to correct my edit here on Nenad Zimonjic here. Zimonjic won at Wimbledon with Daniel Nestor/Nestorovic and no one mentioned it. Strange. Anyway, I am no tennis expert but apparently he won the game playing with a fractured wrist. Regards from Canada Leoboudv (talk) 05:33, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request for wider input on discussion at WikiProject Tennis

[edit]

Hi, there is an extremely long and muddled discussion going on at WP:Tennis about the tournament tables found on tennis player articles (i.e. this type of table), and I'm notifying you as you identified yourself as a member of the project. The dispute is over the "Tournament Name" column, with the options being to either use the "sponsored tournament name" - in other words, the name involving the sponsor, for example Internazionali BNL d'Italia - or the "non-sponsored tournament name" - in other words, Rome Masters. I appreciate that this conversation is very long and convoluted, so a brief summary can be found here, which is also where I request the discussion continues. Thanks, rst20xx (talk) 23:04, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:DDOR Novi Sad.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:DDOR Novi Sad.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:19, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Right now the Tennis wikiproject has no actual tennis featured content. Sure it has two FAs, both about video games, but for a project of such significance it's really poor. I'm trying to initiate a discussion as to why this is the case and what can be done about it and I was really hoping you could contribute to the discussion here. Thanks for your time. Ivanovic not in Luxembourg

[edit]

Hi, I've seen your edit on the 2008 Fortis Championships Luxembourg - Singles article, which prompted me to read the WTA rulebook pages on tournament commitments, and I see that indeed in certain cases players are not allowed to enter low tier events, when there are Tier I and II running in the same time. However, I'm still not sure about the exact reason why Ana Ivanovic can't play, and, say, other Top Ten member Elena Dementieva, or WTA No. 12 Anna Chakvetadze can. Could you be more explicit about that ? Cheers, --Oxford St. (talk) 17:06, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Giving the exact reason why a player is not defending would be a good idea - but saying Ivanovic is not in Luxembourg because she is in Linz does not actually give any reason for her absence in Luxembourg : it just states she's elsewhere. The right thing to say would be "Ana Ivanovic was the defending champion, but as a Top 5 Gold Exempt player was not allowed to participate that year" or something like that (I'm not even sure that's the real reason). Since the WTA rules are quite complicated, I thought it would be easier to just say "chose not to participate", or "retired from the sport", etc... Of course, it would be better to be specific, if we could find sources determining exactly the reasons why Ivanovic, Hantuchova, and other WTA and ATP players do not defend their titles sometimes. Cheers, --Oxford St. (talk) 18:27, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Who was faster? :)

[edit]

Amazing ! It seems we posted our templates exactly at the same time ! As for having one template or several, well, I actually prefer the idea of having a template for each series, but I'm open for discussion. Perhaps we should propose both our templates in the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Tennis, and ask for the others' opinions ? What do you think ? --Oxford St. (talk) 20:50, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, let's wait for Friday - I'll do my own WTA International Tournaments template inbetween. Cheers, --Oxford St. (talk) 21:08, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think that each series of events should have its own template, to include current and past tournaments, and to be used on main articles, the way this template:
is used on the main ATP International Series Gold and Association of Tennis Professionals pages. I think that the templates I have made (Template:WTA Premier tournaments and Template:WTA International tournaments) could be used, separately, in that way.
But aside from that, I agree that sometimes the ability to navigate between different series lacks on yearly tennis events pages, and I must admit your idea of a template for all WTA events (and eventually, the same thing could be done for the ATP) has grown on me. With some little modifications, your template could become a 2009 WTA tournaments template, to be used on 2009 events articles, over the 2009 in tennis template, and could look like that:
What do you think ? --Oxford St. (talk) 18:14, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Votes for new templates

[edit]

Hello ! Since our call for a vote on the project page didn't reach more than three votes (including me and you), I thought we could perhaps reach an agreement together.

It seems that we both think that for season templates (to be used instead of this, this and that), something like that:

would be the best option. After giving some thought about Mjquin id's comment in the discussion, I've come to believe that we should add all events of the Tour mentioned on the official ATP and WTA calendars - that is, add the Grand Slam events, World Team Cup for the ATP, and Davis Cup/Fed Cup. We would end up for something like that for the ATP Tour 2008:

and something like that for the ATP and WTA Tour 2009:

What do you think about that ? I believe the inclusion of Grand Slam events and of the Davis Cup & al. is indeed more user-friendly, and will allow readers to navigate even more easily between the events.

Perhaps we still disagree on what to do about series templates, but we can find a solution for that later. --Oxford St. (talk) 12:15, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK I'm going to create these, and redirect existing templates towards the new ones - I'll use lighter colors for 2009, too. Cheers, --Oxford St. (talk) 16:52, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mape

[edit]

Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged revisions, underwent a two-month trial which ended on 15 August 2010. Its continued use is still being discussed by the community, you are free to participate in such discussions. Many articles still have pending changes protection applied, however, and the ability to review pending changes continues to be of use.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under level 1 pending changes and edits made by non-reviewers to level 2 pending changes protected articles (usually high traffic articles). Pending changes was applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't grant you status nor change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Acalamari 18:38, 6 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:Autonomous provinces of Serbia requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is an unused duplicate of another template, or a hard-coded instance of another template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is not actually the same as the other template noted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page explaining how this one is different so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{substituted}}</noinclude>).

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page's talk page, where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. ibicdlcod (talk) 14:54, 25 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thanks for uploading File:KK Novi Sad.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 02:33, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Maps of Novi Sad requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
