Adoption?

After more-than-half-seriously considering doing some ridiculous actions onwiki I'd rather have a designated person to ask the occasional question of plausibility of. (Please {{talkback}} if you reply.)~user:orngjce223 how am I typing? 15:05, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

I'd happily adopt you - would you rather have the full course, or just an advisor? Dendodge TalkContribs 16:15, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
I have the technical stuff down pat, what I'd rather have is a designated place to ask questions. ~user:orngjce223 how am I typing? 16:20, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
Well, I'm always here if you need me (partly because I have no life). Dendodge TalkContribs 16:22, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
But then again, these days, who needs one? Although seriously, I've gone independent study, which means I have some time between courses to dream up ridiculous schemes for attempting to submit every bureaucrat on RfA, etc. etc. I have no built-in reality check. ~user:orngjce223 how am I typing? 16:27, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.

If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.

P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot (talk) 14:42, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

Reward Page

Hi, in the reward page, you requested for someone to upgrade the Shakespearean articles to B/A/GA/FA. Well, this can't be done as someone has already redirected them to The Tempest. Maybe you should rephrase or remove your request?

Hi again! User:Zheliel/Wiki RP2 After all, most likely you have witnessed or participated in many edit conflicts. You can record them here to make them look nice! Wouldn't it be nice? Zheliel 13:33, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

Transparent layer

Dendodge I offer you my sincerest apologies and many thanks. I did not undertand what you had written and I did not assume good faith. Your suggestion is just what was needed. Charvest (talk) 22:36, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

message from your adopted one, web wonder

I finished the assignment you gave first gave me a while back. I'm not sure how to get to your second assignment for me, assuming you made it. I understand having a lot to do in your life and not having time for wiki. I'm just checking if you forgot. I won't blame you if you did, as the same thing happened to me for a while. If you have time and are reading this, may I have my second assignment or, if you've already made it, could you explain how I get to it? Web wonder (talk) 20:47, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Wikipedia Signpost — February 23, 2009

The kinks are still being worked out in a new design for these Signpost deliveries, and we apologize for the plain format for this week.

User:Dendodge/Sandbox/Beatles portal

I saw in Category:Template loop warnings that your page User:Dendodge/Sandbox/Beatles portal had a problem with a template loop. This turned out to have been caused by User:Dendodge/Sandbox/Beatles portal referring to User:Dendodge/Sandbox/Beatles portal/2 which actually included an improved copy of User:Dendodge/Sandbox/Beatles portal. So in the end the template was referring to itself.

I took the liberty of fixing that in the following obvious way: paste the improved version from User:Dendodge/Sandbox/Beatles portal/2 onto User:Dendodge/Sandbox/Beatles portal and blank User:Dendodge/Sandbox/Beatles portal/2. This solution did indeed work well.

Do not be surprised that the "Did you know section" #2 is empty, while all the others contain a redlink. This is because the others do not yet exist and are therefore represented as redlinks, while #2 exists but simply is empty.

If there is anything more I can do for you, please let me know. Sincerely, Debresser (talk) 02:28, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Likewise I corrected the template loop in User:Dendodge/Sandbox/2. This one was a lot simpler and the solution was trivial: I included the selfreference in tags. Please have a look at the bottom of that page and I'm sure you'll find it looks precisely as you intended it to be. Debresser (talk) 02:36, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

QUESTION:

I'm brand new to editing. After reading an article on Patrick Dennis, I Googled and found a picture of him. I would like to add a link to the photograph (which is outside Wikipedia). Is this permitted? What section would it go in/should I start one? What is the code to use?

Link to the photograph which is of him and Rosalind Russell. http://www.freewebs.com/rosalindrussellfan/33_04_PcktFll.jpg

which is a link from the following page http://www.freewebs.com/rosalindrussellfan/auntiemame.htm

CLOSING Please reply to my talk page, which has nothing on it at present.

PS. I use Wikipedia a lot and research tons of things on the internet. I'd love to contribute but I find the HELP and GETTING STARTED quite intimidating. Though I was in the computer software and consulting business for 25+ years, I am now 61 and less able to follow technical instructions. Are there some simple examples of how to post this type of information or that type of information? I looked at templates but was confounded there, too. Sorry to be so 'dumb' -- I once made a living with my brain but it is not that reliable these days.

Thank you for reading this long missive and taking the time to reply.
