[edit]I just noticed that the vandalism was caused by an IP and added a vandal warning to it's talk page. Please accept my sincere apologies (I screwed up reading which line the vandalism occured on in the history) and let me know how (if possible I can undo those comments). Once again, truly sorry about that.

[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent contribution removed content from an article. Please be more careful when editing articles and do not remove content from Wikipedia without a good reason, which should be specified in the edit summary. - First of all that should have a subst tag before the warning. Second, don't welcome me to Wikipedia, I've been a consistent editor for over a year with nearly 7000 edits. Third, only templates are allowed to be in article pages not custom tags. Gdo01 17:49, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, apologies for not adding the tag properly, and for the welcome line included, but ther point is you removed content from the page. Anyway, the only reason I'm in danger of violating the 3rr is because you vandals keep reverting my reverts! This is totally unacceptable. What do you have against my promoting the addition of my pimp image to the article? It is a highly appropriate image I created solely for this purpose, yet you all appear to want to gang up on me to ensure it is not added. Why?--Boris Allen 17:53, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Edit was not vandalism.
[edit]It was my belief that articles were supposed to be politically neutral. Claiming that Bush was "against civil liberties" is certainly not neutral. Nor is it a fact or piece of truthful information in any way. The worst part of all is the claim is not made in the context of someone’s beliefs, it is stated as fact. If even it were to read "some people believed..." or something along those lines. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 12.146.190.92 (talk • contribs) .

Bush article
[edit]I would say that voting against one bill simply because it is named the "Civil Rights" bill does not mean that you are "against civil rights". That statement is a broad generalization which I'm sure Bush himself would disagree with. I fail to see why the prayer in schools would have to go, it is indeed fact that he supported prayer in schools, he has said so himself so that is very clear.
To summarize I believe the article should AT THE LEAST be changed to mention that he voted against the civil rights bill rather than a generalization that makes it appear as if he was against ALL civil rights. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 12.146.190.92 (talk • contribs) .

Gabriel
[edit]Hello:)
I had recently edited parts of Wikepedia on Gabriel, and you said it was vandalism. One of the edits I had made was on the Occult understanding of Gabriel. I put the Color "Purple" as Gabriel's color in addition to blue, and his rulership over the Kabbalistic Sephira of Yesod. All these attributions that I added are accurate. So your reversions are WRONG. Your email message to me accusing me of being a Vandal was very RUDE to say the least. I am a Kabbalist/Occultist and I have worked with Gabriel before. To check my attributions, read Dion Fortune's "The Mystical Qabala". In the future, do your research before accusing others of Vandalism. Also remember that anyone can edit Wikepedia, if it is a valid edit. So stop being a member of the Thought-Police. And please try NOT to be rude in the future, as you will receive the same treatment.

Stephen Colbert
[edit]- Colbert first introduced the Called Out board on 8/14/2006, by placing John Steward on it to force an appology to Geraldo.
This is verifiable factual information. Look it up on Comedy Central or watch his show and you might know. This is a trivia fact not vandalism. Also by placing the underline on the H in John that is notating that it is mispelled.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 132.178.204.178 (talk • contribs) .

Colbert Bridge Incident
[edit]Hi Gd001, beside appreciating your heroic efforts making Wikipedia a better place, please consider that FACTS are not to be mixed with vandalism. Fact is that Colbert named a national hero of a foreign nation as "asshole" in his show (youtube it if you doubt) and affected members of a nation could hardly tolerate this. Maybe it is fun for Americans but not for Hungarians. The bridge name voting story shall contain this FACT too, not only the poll results. If a comedian makes fun of something, (s(he shall take all the responsibility as well. Best would be OMIT the whole name voting issue from the personal part because it is insignificant for Colbert's life but deeply offensing for national emotions of a EU country.
Also note that there are repeated tips and urges for voting, cheating or hacking the official vote page. Does it match Wikipedia rules? Don't think so.
- Dear Gdo, still presuming your measures are for the overall benefit of the Wiki community and not merely on behalf of Colbert himself, let me point out that your message remarks are somewhat odd. Hope you do not mind.
- First of all, Colbert's lack of knowledge is his very own problem and being stupid is seldom an excuse -- this is not a case. FACT it is that according to Hungarian regulation, things can be named after only dead people. If one knew it, never would start a name voting campaign for himself. Colbert started anyway, thus proofing he knows very little about Hungary. Period. He need not to -- but wise persons (even who plays stupid characters) gather information first, especially when encouraging over-the-internet service abusal. All the big voting campaign was in vain -- since Colbert is a living showman, all votes on him will be officially discarded. Lack of information can backfire.
- You also defended Colbert('s character) as being stupid enough to make fun of Asian language. Another point of cultural differences: as far as I personally (being a European and a Hungarian adult) know, these jokes are regarded rather un-PC and offensive. Making dumb jokes about Asians (and not being criticized for it) is hardly an excuse. One who thinks this way (and makes/enjoys jokes such this) should take some lessons on history and tolerance. Maybe this should help to change the stereotypically senseless American approach of the outside world and to decrease cultural and other conflicts. EU countries are not 3rd world, "Asia" is not the same reference as Europe but even they/it were/was, never would be worth such behavior.
- You also claimed that "Colbert (...) plays a character (...) bigoted and stupid, comments like the ones he made about Zrínyi Miklós are expected and purely satirical and not the views of the real Stephen Colbert." No problem, this is okay -- if one knows Colbert and his show. But he is well unknown over here, and again, think-first method could prevent him being identified with his character. Now chances are that Stephen Colbert's name get known in Hungary as "the person who named Zrinyi an asshole". Well paved way for a future local introduction for the man and his show, huh?
- You also think you can decide whether the remarks such "Hungarian viewers typically found Stephen's remark about Zrinyi...senseless and repelling" are correctly based. You are wrong: calling any national historical hero an "asshole" IS offensive and repelling BY ITSELF, even if it was said by another angry undead historical opponent :) or an angry history expert which are again not the case. It was a primitive offense, nothing more, and as such it can be criticized without any further support. If you like, you may start any polling etc to prove that it was NOT offensive and repelling -- that is your free choice. To become civil is a good aim but being PC and practicing tolerance cannot be avoided if you want to reach it. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 195.56.225.23 (talk • contribs) .

[edit]well they must have changed the translation since i dled it...my version says "idiot...i told u along time ago when i taught u how to fight didn't i. that i have no intention of telling anyone besides u and yumichika that i have bankai". just remember m7 takes some liberties with the translations on their hq releases. good example is when grimmjow goes to fight ichigo the second time, m7's release has grimmjow talking a lot of trash. even saying he could cut off both arms and still beat ichigo...no other translation i've see is even close to that, including m7 initial release of the same chapter.
i really don't think that ikkaku teaching renji bankai is acurate, but i can't read japanese to confirm otherwise...so whatever, go with either since i can't really prove anything.

moving pages, properly
[edit]Please be aware that copying text from one article title to another... then deleting the original... is never permissible. If half a dozen people collaborate on an article, and we fail to maintain a record of it (somewhere), it amounts to plagiarism. The speedy deletion tag should have been placed at the title with only one edit in the history, so that the all of the edits from original article can be moved to the new title. As you can see, I've merged the histories so all authors still get credit for their work.

Bount Clarification
[edit]"there is no english word ritz or friede or baura or nieder or geselle" is what you said, but I never said there was an English word Ritz, Friede, Baura, Nieder of Geselle. I stated that the English translation of those German words, or the translations of the closest word to those German names, would be ______.
For example, I changed "The German translation of Ritz is crack, cut or scratch..." to "The English translation of Ritz is crack, cut or scratch..." because, correct me if I'm wrong, but the German translation of a German word would still be the same word in German, but the English translation of a German word would be a word in English. If that's the case, then all the ones I've changed from "the German translation of" to "the English translation of" would be valid.
Nieder and Baura, however, might be justified in being reverted to their previous forms. I used three seperate translators and a German dictionary to get the definitions for Nieder and Bauraum (closest German word to Baura), but I couldn't see any way of linking Nieder the doll's abilities to Nieder the definition. As for Bauraum, that seemed to be more of a verb than a noun, and the only link between the doll Baura's abilities to the word Bauraum are that they are both spatial related. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by HayashiKun (talk • contribs) .
Hmm, was unaware of the unsigned thingy. Anyways, I agree with you that the terminology is indeed confusing. Keep up the anti-vandalism work! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by HayashiKun (talk • contribs) .
- Hmm... well, the way I'm looking at it, using Ritz as an example, the word itself is already German, right? Therefore the German word Ritz, in the English language, would mean crack. That seems more correct to me. It's still quite confusing, but that's the way I'm looking at it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by HayashiKun (talk • contribs) .
- Ritz is German for crack.. that sounds right, if if you mean it as in the German word Ritz means crack in English. Yep, that sounds right. Good job! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by HayashiKun (talk • contribs) .

Arrancar Arc
[edit]I think episode 109 is in the Arrancar Arc of Bleach because the title suggests the whole sky-breaking theme of that arc, and the previous episode suggests literally "The Last Clash" between Ichigo and the Bounts. Theres no reason to suggest it isn't in that arc.

Konnichi-wa, Gdo-san! I recently made a Bleach WikiProject and thought you might be interested in it. I've seen you edit some Bleach-related articles and you seem to know what you're doing, so I was just wondering if you would like to look into the project, fix it if necessary, and possibly even join. Of course, the choice is completely up to you and I'm not going to force you to join if you decline, but it would be nice to have someone like you as a member. Thank you for your time, and happy editing! // PoeticDecay 20:10, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

High class vs High status
[edit]I see no evidence that the writer of the Newsweek article to which you refer interviewed Colbert. It looks like it was assembled from pieces taken from other works, and inaccurately as well. Most likely the writer or his editors simply botched the quote. "High class" is illiterate, and makes absolutely no sense in this context. Colbert is nothing if not literate. Colbert would not describe Bill O'Reilly as high-class—Bill O'Reilly woudn't even describe himself as high class. That Bill O'Reilly is not high class is a matter of fact. company_type, department stores
[edit]In response to your reversions on the {{infobox company}} templates of Marshall Fields, etc. I believe the company_type
parameter is supposed to distinguish whether a company is publicly held, privately held, whatever...not what category of store it is (although this isn't widely accepted on articles about retailers). Regards, Tuxide 20:32, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Scanlation images
[edit]While I agree with your reversion of two recent image additions for other reasons, (the first addition was to Rukia's page and the second to Gin's), I don't think the reasoning you gave in the edit summaries is necessarily solid. It is no more illegal to use a scanlated/subbed image than it is to use a RAW since both are taken from pirated versions of the manga. (But covered under fair use law to whatever extent the wikilawyers have decided this week.) If you are really concerned about the text on the images it's not that much work to remove it anyway. --tjstrf talk 03:09, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

What vandalism and nonsense?
[edit]Hello, I made an edit to the cricket world cup 2007 and saw that there was a message, written by you. Now I agree that vandalism is bad, however, I didn't edit the University of Central Lancashire page (never even knew such a page existed til the message). However it is likely that since anon users are assigned regional numbers that change frequently then whoever actually vandalized the page now has a different user assigned number (probably 72.27.....something). It may be best to leave a general warning of the discussion page of the article.72.27.11.154 02:04, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

wikilinks for dates
[edit]Yes, I am aware of that, as far as link style is concerned. But it also says this, which is what I am following, and why I linked the date reference to 2007 in television. That makes perfect sense to me, as it gives the reader more information and context within which to evaluate the article. There's nothing in a link to January 14 that illuminates the article - what possible relevance does it have?
There is consensus among editors that bare month and day names should not be linked unless there is a specific reason that the link will help the reader to understand the article. There is less agreement about links to years. Some editors believe that links to years are generally useful to establish context for the article. Others believe that links to years are rarely useful to the reader and reduce the readability of the text. Another possibility is to link to a more specific article about that year, for example 2006, although some people find this unintuitive because the link leads to an unexpected destination. Tvoz |talk 20:15, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- That only applies if there is no year if you only have a month and day or if you don't have a month and date but do have a year. If you have all 3 they should be linked. Gdo01 20:17, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- Well, it's not clear to me that this is a requirement - I see that if a date is linked it needs to be done in that way because of date preference, but there also is the issue of context which I think is ambiguous on this. I think WP:COMMON_SENSE is what we should follow on this little point. Again, I'm not talking about the infobox although I think that's just silly. I;m talking about the article text. Tvoz |talk 20:35, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- Well article text should not need years since its likely mostly 2007. I'm okay with those being delinked but the infobox is in context of previous seasons so it needs the date and year formatted that way. Gdo01 20:37, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- OK - no prob. Maybe someone will explain to me what it accomplishes some time, but it's cool. Tvoz |talk 20:54, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

And besides that, he was not just a victim, but a selfless hero, and several of those other selfless heroes also have bio pages.72.196.114.56 21:30, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- That was me because I've been going through all the article created. At one point there were 6 of them. 1 is gone, 2 are on the way to gone, 3 will stay. First we gave in for the heroic professors, then we give in to the normal professors, then we give in to students, and then what give in to the injured? Gdo01 01:33, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
- Waleed wasn't a normal student or professor. He was a PhD student was indeed heroic, that article was cited. I am waiting for people who actually knew him to contribute basic things to the bio, and then others can contribute things that are cited as well. There are things about him, and as he was a hero, it is appropriate.

Bay of Pigs
[edit]This so-called "recent changes patroller" has been subjecting the 'Bay of Pigs' entry on the 'April 19' page to his own point of view. His viewpoint is sympathetic to that of the invading army's. Imagine if any of the anti-colonial struggles of the 1960s/70s were viewed as failures for the colonial armies. He writes that my re-writing of the Bay of Pigs entry as a success for the Cubans is a POV description. Fine, sure it is. So is it a POV description that it was a failure for the invading army. It can't really be avoided. The only question is: which POV do you want to take? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Horse Badorties (talk • contribs) 03:14, 21 April 2007 (UTC).

[edit]How would the history merge on this article work? I created the article originally, but people kept moving it and now my contributions are no longer in the history. Thanks Ghost Yacht 10:28, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

Continued from LOST talk page (getting off topic there)
[edit]"Keep having"? I don't agree that I'm falling back on it now (my argument is that it meets WP:EL, and my mention of your so-called "other crap" is just pointing out similar material that also follows EL), but I certainly don't see where you think I've used that argument before. --Minderbinder 23:04, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Hah, you're probably right. I bailed on my warning after further examination and determined that I'd made a mistake. But based on later edits it seems you're probably right. Good call. :) Diagonalfish 00:07, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]Just a quick thanks for reverting several times the vandalism to Bill Clinton.
