VALIS song vs. VALIS novel

[edit]

Hi. Answered you on Talk:List of songs titled as acronyms or initialisms. BTW, please sign your posts on talk pages by typing ~~~~ (four tildes) at the end – it'll be automatically expanded to your username/date signature. Regards, ←#6  talk 1 July 2005 19:34 (UTC)

Can you please see this article's talk page to contribute to the "Criteria" section? Your input would be greatly appreciated as I would like to eliminate band vanity upon band vanity like a sort of Terminator music critic :-). Thanks, JHMM13 (T | C) 20:20, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

At least it has people talking

[edit]

Thank you for the link to that mention of unexposed contents. That 23skidoo guy seems really determined to get rid of it. Seems to kind of fancy himself the personal king of what qualifies as interesting or useful. Anyway, I love the mostly positive response the list has been getting (two people even added things). Also I enjoy that my "List of films with disabled protagonist" hasn't been assailed because anyone trying to delete it would come off as a insensitive jerk. Even my List of films set in an unnamed city is surviving the deletion onslaught. You should lend your support if you read that list and agree with my reasoning. Album pages

[edit]

Hey, do you mind helping me create album pages for Bauhaus and Love and Rockets? I created the one for In the Flat Field last night, and that took me longer than expected. WesleyDodds 02:49, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do you want to divide up the work in a partcular way? Like one of us does Bauhaus and one does Love & Rockets, or one writes the text and one creates the infoboxes, etc. WesleyDodds 10:30, 6 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject

[edit]

Hey, are you interested in joining a Wikiproject I plan to start in the next day or so devoted to alternative artists and genres? WesleyDodds 05:46, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the help in the article, it isn't yet finished so I hope you will cast your eye over it again in a little while. Re the ampersand, I've only been on Wiki for a couple of weeks so I won't even begin to argue formats and stuff but (and didn't you just know there was going to be a but?) the band have never used the ampersand in any of their artwork (er... that is, I don't recall them doing so) regarding their name. I don't know if that means that all Wiki articles should be amended? I also understand that the ampersand means more than just "and"; that it also means "also". I think it is a legal device to denote that a partnership has a "joint and several" liability, and is properly used by professional partnerships. Whatever. I will not be reverting or amending the edits you made, but I thought I would just comment on why I had made those changes.LessHeard vanU 20:29, 25 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gothic rock help

[edit]

Givne your knowledge of post-punk and gothic rock, I'd really like you to help with Wikipedia:WikiProject Alternative music, even if just to fix up the page on The Cure. WesleyDodds 04:09, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Smashing Pumpkins

[edit]

Hey, I'm currently working on turning The Smashing Pumpkins into a Featured Article. Mind going over it and giving me feedback? Specifically, how it reads, what should be added, what should be subtracted, what needs to be cited, what should be reworked, etc.WesleyDodds 06:23, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Collaboration of the Week

[edit]

Hey, we've set up at collaboration project at Wikipedia:WikiProject Alternative music/COTW. Feel free to suggest or vote on articles to work on. WesleyDodds 04:41, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello WikiProject Alternative music member.
WikiProject Alternative music, in my eyes, has proved to be successful "improving the encyclopaedic coverage of articles relating to alternative rock", and improving their quality as well. One specific example I have witnessed is The Smashing Pumpkins article. The page has gone from a mediocre work, to GA status, to FA nomination. Only appropriate, as the Pumpkins are undeniably one of the most influential alternative rock bands on the 1990's and beyond.
This is the stuff I wish to achieve with the somewhat recently ressurected WikiProject Rock music. I hope to also attract attention to rock music articles of all sorts, and hopefully change some to GA or FA status. I invite you to come join us, and not only be a member of alternative Wikipedians, but the rockin' ones as well.
Rock on.

WikiProject Alternative music and sources

[edit]

As part of the Alternative music WikiProject, we're gathering a list of sources on this page. Could you take a look and perhaps add any written references you have access to? Thanks! CloudNine 08:51, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Having participated (on 29 January 2006) in the above-linked AfD, you may wish to express an opinion on this entry's ultimate fate at its revived AfD vote: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of films with unexposed contents (2nd nomination), which began on 1 May.—Roman Spinner (talk) 00:26, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bauhaus 2008

[edit]

Hey i would like to ask you following

The latest album from bauhaus called go away white is for my taste a bit differend from early bauhaus sounds

is it still goth rock ? on the english wiki site they labled it into alternative rock / Goth Rock ?

i think songs like "saved" or "a dog's a vapour" are very goth rock but the others are quiet lighter.

Thanks for your help — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brosi90 (talkcontribs) 16:04, 14 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hello Brosi90! I would agree, Go Away White is a little different than the earlier/original Bauhaus albums. I think calling it "alternative rock" or "gothic rock" is still fair (and AllMusic agrees), but you could perhaps call it something like "darkwave" as well. I'm sure there are yet more genre labels, but most media sources still called the album "gothic rock". Thenowhereman (talk) 18:23, 14 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well i think its a Mixture , The sound is still very bauhaus'ish for me.Very intense and experimental. Some Songs are more alternative with a modern lighter bauhaus Sound

And some Songs Like saved and a Dog's a vapour got the 80s bauhaus feeling typical Goth Rock

So i guess There are Songs from both Genres Available on Go Away White When allmusic says that - im sure it fits in it.
