Your first funny ass response, completely without prompting. --> I do not know if you are paranoid or no, but what is sad to me is that most observations point only to violence like there is an interest to keep the "image" of "the most violent city of the world" alived. It is like if you (I mean those interested in that point), just go to look the confirmation of what they think is Medellín, ignoring other facts like its importance not only in Colombia but in Latin America, a city of thinkers, universities, industry, poetry, festivals, commerce and so on. Violence actually is something very relative. A city can be very violent this summer or not. I live, for example, in a very violent city where you can not go alone in the night, however, nobody says that in its article, also because it has not the importance of Medellín. I am not a part of such campaign you say and I am the first to fight such campaign, but I can guest that such campaign is the consequence to the other campaign to show Medellín and Colombia as a violent-like Old West country (remember the rampant comment of the most British Sir Bob Ainsworth stating that we Colombians "are violent by nature" forgetting his hooligans?). For me you can concentrate in count numbers that actually we shoud not hide, since it will rise attention and promote more improvements, but let us work other proposals like that of showing Medellín as it is: a modern and Western city, so city as any city of Europe and North America and not a farm of chickens and that American image of an Old West gost town as it is presented by Hollywood. --Albeiror24 (talk) 16:14, 12 June 2008 (UTC) Bold 1: I had no idea what you were talking about, but if that was true there would be an entire, stand-alone crime article on the city. Hell, there's one for Los Angeles, New York and Detroit...why isn't there one for Medellín anyway? In fact it's RIDICULOUS that a city as violent as Medellín ONLY has a minor crime section! Why is it that only American cities seem to have them as full articles Al? Answer me that. It's bizarre, none of these places have anything REMOTELY like Medellín's death toll, so stop complaining. Bold 2: Sihanoukville is much safer than Medellín historically and again you're only dragging one place down to make Medellín/Colombia look better. Then you go into this obsession you have that Colombia or Medellín are being purposefully targeted by Hollywood or individuals. THEN you start bringing English football hooligans into it, who are nothing LIKE criminals in Medellín or Colombia in general. The way I see it you're defending killers. Your comments got more and more paranoid as you went on. When people are raising genuine concerns over the tone of the article and wanting to keep it as factual as possible, don't target other cultures without provocation expecting people to just sit there and take it. Others (and I hope you) will see that I'm a very fair editor who leaves out emotions. I understand your concern, but I might be able to give you a comment on institution naming which might be kind of tricky. It is usual to translate the word "University" when referring to such institution. The same happens in Spanish, as for example es:Universidad Harvard, es:Universidad Yale, es:Universidad Brown, or es:Universidad Federal de Río de Janeiro. Although some of the examples are of notable institutions, I don't know if we can apply the same rule to all Colombian Universities. I must to admit that, nevertheless, the proper names like the department name, or so, should not be under any circumstance be translated. Also, it is common to find the use the translated name in published academic journals. I guess if you have any more comments, we could replace the english names for spanish names. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant!♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:23, 27 October 2016 (UTC) ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open![edit]Hello, Albeiror24.
