Notability of Freije

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Freije requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Accounting4Taste:talk 18:19, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your note. The main difference that you're looking for is references -- the Culligan article has them and the Freije article doesn't. Your article makes a number of claims about the nature of the business, its plans, its holdings, etc., that are not backed up by any citations, such as references to articles in books, magazines, newspapers, etc., that back up the assertions. In addition, there is no real assertion of [[[WP:N|notability]] in the course of the article that would make it a worthwhile subject of a Wikipedia article. I would recommend that you read some of the material I left in the box above, such as Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:Why was my article deleted? in order to gain a better idea of exactly what it is that Wikipedia articles should contain. If you have any further questions about Wikipedia policy, feel free to leave me a note.
Incidentally, I looked over the Culligan article and found it only marginal with respect to it being bolstered by references... if you feel strongly about this, you could insert the appropriate tags to bring it to someone's attention. However, another Wikipedia policy of which you should be aware is that every page is considered entirely in its own terms, and not with reference to any other pages -- see the policy at WP:WAX for an explanation. "Culligan has an article so we should have an article" is an argument that has no merit here. Accounting4Taste:talk 18:43, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I came to answer your question, but I see Accounting has given you some pointers. Any problems or questions, leave a message on my talk page. GBT/C 19:22, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have moved the material you left on my talk page to what we call a "sandbox" page -- where you can experiment without actually re-mounting the article. You'll find it at User:Ejierfretaw/Sandbox and I will make comments there; I hope this meets with your approval. Accounting4Taste:talk 21:33, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
