Hello, I'M learning the Wikipedia platform as I go, please give me sometime. I will make the article clear and concise. Also I am not sure how to sign the post.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Acmorgan76 (talkcontribs) 08:27, 6 January 2016‎

Hello @Acmorgan76: I have created a sandbox for you that you can use to write your articles at your own pace, you can access it here or by clicking on "Sandbox" on the top right menu of your browser window. I recommend that you read Wikipedia:Your first article to evaluate if the subject of your article is suitable for inclusion and to guide you along the creation process. Once you have a draft that meets the requirements I would be happy to review it for you. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 16:27, 7 January 2016 (UTC)
To sign post you just need to write: --~~~~ at the end of your comment or you can also get that code inserted automatically by clicking this button on your menu at the top of the edit window: Signature button.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 16:31, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

Wiki loves pride

Hi User:Crystallizedcarbon:

This is User:RachelWex. I am in the process of creating a Wikipedia Meetup page for our Wiki Loves Pride event in June. Obviously this is not an article. Is there another process I have to go through? I was looking for information about this and it was not clear. Until this time I will not be deleting this page. Please advise.

User:RachelWex

Hello @RachelWex: The natural place for it is probably this page: Wikipedia:Meetup
If you scroll down you will see that there is a place holder for it under Projects & events if you follow the red link the article will be created under Wikipedia: and not in the main article space. Regards.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 19:35, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

I've tried to edit the talk page as you suggested. Hope I did it right. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.52.7.104 (talk) 20:18, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

F.E.A.

I'm not afraid of profanity nor promoting it. I often add things or correct things but sadly haven't the discipline for some of the miscellaneous fringe stuff. I saw Truth (2015 film) and F.E.A. was a phrase they used and finally revealed to be common military jargon for fuck 'em all. I know Wikipedia is not Urban Dictionary, and I was surprised to not find on either, so I added it. You may like it, or not, I won't revert it, it's up to you, I don't mind. I just thought you might like to know I wasn't trying to be crass. You have motivated me to at least make a mental note to watch some YouTube videos on adding sources to Wikipedia. It's not the best way, but I can play the tutorial on the side like radio learning as I do my main tasks. Sorry to waste your time. JasonCarswell (talk) 13:51, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

Hello @JasonCarswell: The article is a disambiguation page, intended to link to other notable articles so the content you added should not be included in that page in any case. Since I see the edit was done in good faith I have removed the notice from your talk page. Regards. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 17:20, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

Cheers for adding the COI tag. I couldn't find it earlier, no matter how much I searched. Lbmarshall (talk) 17:23, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

Hello @Lbmarshall: Thank you. You did add the tag, the author deleted it (along with the speedy deletion tag). Since his username is the same as the blog link he tried to insert in the article, It does seem clear that his editions may be a COI, so I restored your tag. Kannada Language wiki edit

Hi Crystallizedcarbon,

I would like to inform you that the total number of Kannada speakers in the world is 50.2 million as of 2015 year end. Wiki mentions a very underestimated and unauthentic value of a mere 40 million. You have reverted my edit. Request you to please correct it.

Also, the map showing areas where Kannada native speakers are in a majority has been deleted by you. This is the authentic version. You are based in Spain. I stay in Bengaluru, Karnataka and have travelled all these areas. Please refer Justice Mahajan committee report. Please add my map to this wiki article.

Thanks in advance, Nitin NitinBhargava2016 (talk) 05:37, 23 January 2016 (UTC)

Hello @NitinBhargava2016: You are clearly confused. As you can see in my only edit to the article all I did was revert some vandalism by the now blocked user Noufal lakk.
What you are probably referring to, is this edit which was done not by me, but by Kwamikagami. I think that the reason he deleted both the map and the population note was technical. When you added the map you used an invalid field in the infobox and so it was not displayed even before he removed it. The population mention was inserted using square brackets []. Wikipedia interprets them as an external link and it was not sourced, so it was correct to remove it. I suggest you find a reliable source to reference your claim for the number of speakers and add back the updated value. If you don´t know how to add the reference, send me a message, and if you provide me a link to a reliable source I will be more than happy to add it to the article for you. As far as the map you added, I think it should be replaced by one that does not show a desktop or company logos, but for now I added it to the infobox, so that you can see the right field to use and change it when you find a suitable replacement. Regards.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 09:56, 23 January 2016 (UTC)

Hello @Crystallizedcarbon, Immensely thankful to you. Kindly add this map to the Kannada language wiki article as it does not have any company logos or desktop icons. Kannada native speakers

Please let me know in case of any concern. ThanksNitinBhargava2016 (talk) 18:03, 23 January 2016 (UTC)

Native Kannada speakers as of 2016 beginning is bound to be higher than 50 million. Regards,NitinBhargava2016 (talk) 18:28, 23 January 2016 (UTC)

Hello @NitinBhargava2016: Thank you, I will review it and integrate it into the article tomorrow.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 20:14, 23 January 2016 (UTC)
I could not read the first reference, but the second one is valid and enough to update the information of the article, so it is also  Done. Regards. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 18:09, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

Sorry, reverted again. The 1st ref fails verification, the 2nd is not a RS, and the map is illegible. Also, our 2ary source (Ethnologue) says there are 37.7M native speakers in India according to the 2001 census, not 50M. I also removed the claim that it ranks 33rd, as such claims have little substance and we no longer use them on WP. — kwami (talk) 21:24, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

Please follow WP:BOLD and don't restore controversial edits until you have consensus to do so. You will need decent sources for that. — kwami (talk) 03:16, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

@Kwamikagami: The census from Ethonlogue is older than An Introduction to Linguistic Anthropology. I don´t know why you think it does not qualify as WP:RS, but in any case I did a search in google books to find aditional sources and I also found a more current source that is consistan with the Ethologue reference. I added the information as a request from NitinBhargava2016 after reverting some vandalism in the article. Since I am not knowledgeable in this subject I think it is best that you both resolve directly any issues regarding your different points of view about the article. As far as the map is concerned, when it displays in the userbox it is a thumb but if you click on it you can view it in full resolution. In that view it provides legible details about the region that seems to complement the other map. But again, it is an issue for which I am neutral and that you both can resolve however you see fit. Regards.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 09:41, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi kwami, Crystallizedcarbon, I completely disagree with Kwami's above statement that my map of native Kannada speakers is illegible. Request you both to resolve this problem and restore back my map to Kannada wiki article. Awaiting your response. I do not understand terms like WP:RS etc., as I am new to Wikipedia. However, the facts in my map are not false or least of all exaggerative.NitinBhargava2016 (talk) 14:53, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

Kannada Language wiki edit

Hello @Crystallizedcarbon, The same link I provided mentions Kannada to be the 27th most spoken language in the world. Kindly update the wiki which still shows it as 33rd. Regards, NitinBhargava2016 (talk) 04:47, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

Hello @NitinBhargava2016: The article refereces this List of languages by number of native speakers. the list uses, in turn, information from this site. In that list the language is ranked 32, since the source is more authoritative. I have updated the value in the article accordingly. Regards.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 17:16, 25 January 2016 (UTC)
Such rankings are nonsense. At best we could say that it's #27 per one source, #33 per another, etc. We have consensus not to use them on WP. — kwami (talk) 03:14, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
@Kwamikagami: Hello, that ranking was already in the article. I simply updated its value, but I agree with your argument, and I have no problem with it been removed. Regards.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 09:23, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

Gabriella Ricca

Hi Crystallizedcarbon! I would like to thank you for your help from before. The page Gabriella Ricca has now been removed citing her gymnastics didn't meet Wikipedia's requirements for it. Her name was removed from notable people in Hammonton, NJ as she was recognized by the town of Hammonton and many media outlets. I placed information under Community in Hammonton, NJ since she was an all around gymnastics world gold medalist champion. The person whom removed her did redirect her name under her father's page Tony Ricca the professional wrestler since an article in there mentions her accomplishments. The question is, can there be a page created for her like before or have it restored? If not, can her picture be placed on her fathers page since she is mentioned in the article for her accomplishments? Thank you very much and hope you can help with this. Georgivac (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 01:53, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

Done @Georgivac: Hello, If the article was deleted and you want to recreate it I would recommend finding additional independent reliable sources that provide in depth coverage to meet WP:GNG or prove that it meets WP:NGYMNASTICS. In the mean time, I have added the picture to her father's article.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 06:56, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
Thank you @Crystallizedcarbon: Hi, thank you for helping out with this. I will look further into what you had mentioned. Thank you very much again. Georgivac (talk)
@Georgivac: I am glad to help.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 16:17, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi Crystallizedcarbon! I'm sorry to bother you again, as Gabriella Ricca does not meet Wikipedia’s WP:NGYMNASTICS, However she does meet Wikipedia’s WP:GNG as some following links with a few multiple articles of in depth coverage to satisfy for her page to be brought back. She is eligible through WP:GNG. The articles mentioned are not a press releases. The articles are verifiable as they are published works from the media.

There is one article released through many of USA Today’s papers throughout the USA (Nationally) at that time, as they can now be found on their online website under Gymnastics. She was featured in the sports section for it. Her photo’s are provided in the article. There are many more that I don’t need to keep providing.

The list goes on throughout the USA for this article. All valid and verifiable as it shows.

The pressofatlanticcity.com features her in their article under Everyone Has a Story: Ex-wrestler dad helped young gymnast grapple with fear http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/blogs/michelle_post/everyone-has-a-story-ex-wrestler-dad-helped-young-gymnast/article_188e0bb2-0afb-11e4-b3dd-0019bb2963f4.html

There are many more but I believe enough is valid enough to add her.

The following website is a live scoring system that documents athletic events. Here’s where she can be found for her World Championship Scores. http://www.meetscoresonline.com/2014-FL-USAIGC-IAIGC-World-Championships - Click Meet Results and scroll down to Session: 3 Level: CO Division: 12 yrs Click PDF - She’s also in the Top Scores Bracket.

Please advise as to adding back the page Gabriella Ricca. She does meet the requirements through WP:GNG.

Thank you very much Georgivac (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 17:47, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

@Georgivac: Hello, the sources you mention are already included in the article. According to our general notability guidelines:
Multiple publications from the same author or organization are usually regarded as a single source for the purposes of establishing notability
There are no new reliable sources. In my personal opinion the existing sources could satisfy WP:GNG as 2 could be considered multiple sources, but just barely. I would try to find at least one additional reliable source with independent in depth coverage. Alternatively you can discuss the issue with Accurizer, who was the editor that merged the article to see if you can come to a consensus. Regards.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 18:25, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
I have also changed the redirect so that Gabriella Ricca points directly to her section within the article.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 18:29, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

Thank you again, very kindly Georgivac (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 23:57, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi again, Accurizer's opinions are not of any help and won't put it up stating that one of the papers mentions more of Tony Ricca then Gabriella Ricca which is an article that really features her but with her dad because he's a professional wrestler. Also stated was a mention of she was a "snapshot in time" and needed to be enduring notability. I know this is a guideline but not necessary as in Hammonton, NJ there are many "snapshots in time" of other people and things mentioned that could be removed, weren't. I had put Gabriella Ricca under Community under Events like the Hammonton Little League World Series win from a long time ago as this would be considered a snapshot in time. They both won championships even though hers was an World Championship as the Little League at that time had just a few teams from the U.S. Is there any help that you can offer or is there a chief editor that can take a look at this? Thank you so much for your help Georgivac (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 06:49, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

@Georgivac: Hello, first some advice: Remember to sign your contributions in other people's talk pages, you can do so by using the sign button on the top menu (looks like a pen) or by typing --~~~~ at the end of your message, when you save it gets automatically converted to your signature. Also remember to ping other users when you are writing to them on your talk page, or they may never see your message (I left a message with instructions on your talk page).
Now to your question, according to Accurizer interpretation of our policy the article does not meet WP:GNG. his argument is based on point 5.
"Presumed" means that significant coverage in reliable sources creates an assumption, not a guarantee, that a subject should be included. A more in-depth discussion might conclude that the topic actually should not have a stand-alone article—perhaps because it violates what Wikipedia is not, particularly the rule that Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information.[5]
I understand that he is basing his argument in this policy WP:BLP1E since he also claimed that he does not consider the USAIGC/IAIGC Gymnastics International World Championship a notable event.
My recommendation would be for you to find some additional reliable sources not related to that event or wait until she receives new coverage in the future. Your only other alternative, would be to prove whether the USAIGC/IAIGC can be considered an international elite competition as defined by WP:NGYMNASTICS. I did a quick search but found limited sources. if you still want to get the opinion of other users and admins you could post to Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons/Noticeboard. Before doing so, I would recommend you read WP:COI since the issue could be raised. Again, my advice would be to wait until you can find an additional independent reliable source not related to that event. At least now the information is accesible in her fathers article and the redirect when you search her name points directly to her section. Regards. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 18:06, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

Thanks Crystallizedcarbon! I appreciate the feedback. Just to note Shannon Miller was in the USAIGC/IAIGC as were many and later was the 1996 Olympics balance beam gold medalist. Though she's recognized for her accomplishments for the Olympics. I just wanted to show that the USAIGC/IAIGC is actually geared toward both College and a bridge to the Olympic trials which Gabriella Ricca is currently. Aside from that, what is an example of another independent reliable source not related to that event? She does have other gymnastic events coming up not related to her world championship. She is also currently training in Professional Wrestling and will have her first Professional Independent match as well as doing competitive Powerlifting. Would any of these mentioned help? Again, what is an example of another independent reliable source not related to that event? She does have another source that's online from the Town of Hammonton giving her recognition for her World Championship win. It is online at the following link http://livestream.com/Hammonton/events/3326659 as it was live on Television then. Would this constitute an independent source for that or does she need to have another event of gymnastics or the other athletic competitions that she's doing? Also, in Hammonton, New Jersey, is there a place under community where she can be placed? I had put her name under Events as the Hammonton League World Series is but I'm not sure if there should be another category created. They have Wineries and Alcohol Consumption that have one article and a theatre with one also in it. I'm sure if that belongs there but it is as other establishments that have articles about them not categorized. Thank you kindly and very much Georgivac (talk) 19:11, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

@Georgivac: The source needs to be related to one of her other gymnastic events or to a different edition of the championship if she competes again, her professional wrestling training, etc. just anything other than the championship she won. if it receives coverage by an independent reliable source then it is deemed notable and WP:BLP1E will no longer be an issue. The coverage must be more than trivial or routine. That means more than just a passing mention of her name. Once she receives new coverage for anything other than her championship by a reliable source the article will clearly meet WP:GNG. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 22:04, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
@Crystallizedcarbon: Thank you so much for stating that clearly. That answers the many questions. Thanks again! Georgivac (talk) 22:37, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
@Georgivac: No problem, glad I could help. Regards.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 23:26, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

What was wrong with my edit?

Seemed perfectly reasonable to me. Just trying to get the truth out there. I guess wikipedia thrives on censorship of the truth. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.240.1.94 (talk) 11:55, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

What you call the truth, was just a racist attack, vandalism of the worst kind that does not belong in Wikipedia. You have been blocked from editing for a month, keep in mind that further edits of this kind would probably force an administrator to make that block permanent. I hope that if you choose to come back your contributions will be aimed at improving the project.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 13:49, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

The Development CAFE Page

Hi Crystal,

This is regarding your comment on the development cafe page. This is an independant non profit organization, the information of which can be of use to readers. What reference do you want me to add, other than their website? — Preceding unsigned comment added by King6ruleswiki (talkcontribs) 11:08, 7 February 2016 (UTC)

@King6ruleswiki: Hello, please review the following link: WP:NGO. By reading it you can find the notability requirements that non profit organizations need to meet before we can include an article about them in Wikipedia. You need to add at least two independent reliable sources that talk in depth about the organization. If you find the sources and need help adding them to the article, let me know and I will help you add them myself. I the organization can not meet those requirements it will probably be deleted. Regards.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 17:24, 8 February 2016 (UTC)

Kannada wiki

Hello @Crystallizedcarbon, I have messaged Kwamikagami asking him for the reason for removing my authentic Kannada language map on 21:23, 29 January 2016. He is a native of Japan and extremely reliant on false publications of linguistic maps of India by some universities/scholars with vested interests partial to their native languages. Can you please revert it or get it reverted by the concerned authority? Thanks in advance. Cheers, NitinBhargava2016 (talk) 14:54, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi @Kwamikagami, I'm against your removing of my articles of Kannada language native speakers map and their total population. As far as its rank among world language speakers is concerned, its not a problem to me. I am saying this as I am neutral to the topic and only in favour of the truth, not blindly relying on some university's flawed linguistic maps rather than observing the ground truths. I am going to accept only valid reasons for removing my maps. If you are not ready to put back my maps, then the current flawed version of Kannada native speakers map on wiki must also be immediately removed as its not based on ground realities[PS: Columbia university study reference is not a proof of ground reality]. I have visited and interacted with people in all these areas. Also, the Kannada population of 50 million is based on 2015 Government census estimates and not a mere 40 million of 2001! If you are not ready to update this population, then at least year 2001 - 40 million should be mentioned along with year 2015 - 50 million speakers, which has highly valid references. I'm ready for a healthy scholarly debate based on the ground realities. I invite you to India to visit these areas, know the lingua-franca of the true native speakers of these regions considering that hundreds of thousands have migrated to the border regions of Kannada native speakers as economic/social migrants in 19th and 20th centuries and it continues unabated till date! Cheers, NitinBhargava2016 (talk) 15:17, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

@NitinBhargava2016: Hello, I see no problem with having the map in the article, but I think it is best if you reach a consensus with Kwamikagami so I pasted your message to him on his talk page. If you can't resolve the issue and reach a consensus, let me know and I will try to help. Regards.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 16:32, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi Crystallizedcarbon, I am immensely thankful to you for your help and assurance. I have messaged Kwamikagami thrice. Hope the issue is amicably resolved. My maps are completely legible, they are not using Google maps so as to cause any copyright/trademark infringement issues. They are based on facts - Justice Mahajan committee report, Reorganisation of Indian states on linguistic basis, Bombay and Madras Gazetteers of British period (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Belgaum_border_dispute, etc.,), study of ground realities having visited these border areas. If they demand references for 'ground reality', then Mahajan committee report is only in hard copy form in books and not on-line (no soft copy of authentic version exists). It may be difficult for me to produce references (as they do not exist) for all these. Being new to Wikipedia, I am banking on your help. Regards,NitinBhargava2016 (talk) 17:11, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

@NitinBhargava2016: Hello again. I hope that you can reach a consensus. To help you in your task, please keep in mind that verifiability is one of the core content policies of Wikipedia. What that means is that as an encyclopedia, its articles can not be based on original research even if that research is true or more accurate if its not referenced with reliable sources it should not be used. It is not a requirement that the sources are online. if the report you mention is a reliable source and has a reference number (ISBN) you can reference it by citing the page number. If you don't know how to do it, I can help you by adding them. So my advice to you is to defend your arguments using whichever sources you can find online or offline. Hi Crystallizedcarbon, I will try my best to provide references which are relatively near to 'ground reality' which can be observed only by visiting these regions and studying demographics. https://msblc.maharashtra.gov.in/pdf/newpdf/next20/MAHARASHTRA%20IN%20MAPS.pdf - maps and linguistic details on page numbers - 172 to 175. http://dsal.uchicago.edu/bibliographic/bmcatalogs/Z7049.I31T3B8.pdf - the districts and their sizes represented here are those of the article's period (19th century) and not the present district sizes or location or position - page numbers 3 to 4. https://archive.org/stream/rosettaproject_tam_detail-2 - Tamil http://dsal.uchicago.edu/books/lsi/lsi.php?volume=4&pages=701#page/412/mode/1up - pages - 362 to 405.

Regards!NitinBhargava2016 (talk) 19:49, 13 February 2016 (UTC)

@NitinBhargava2016: Good morning. The sources you provide are indeed reliable. Remember our policy on original research. Whatever information that is included on those sources, and can be extracted without the need of original research, can be included in the article. If there is contradicting information from reliable sources then a discussion must be made to decide which is more reliable, or include both versions giving proper attribution.
So my advice to you if you haven't yet reach a consensus with the other editor. Is to make a new section at Talk:Kannada title it something like "Proposed changes and additional detailed map" In it explain exactly what you want to change (proposed changes:) and include the exact place where the sources back your claim. If the map draws from various sources, then also point exactly at the page numbers. At the end ask for feedback in case anyone is opposed to be able to argue why. If there is no response in a few days you can add it to the article (If so I could help you to insert the references). If somebody opposes you will have a chance to show if the proposed changes are indeed backed by your sources. Regards.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 09:20, 14 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi Crystallizedcarbon, I see that several IP addresses across Tamil Nadu and elsewhere as also some users are vandalising Kannada language article by removing the new map and replacing it with the old one although there are clear proofs and references for the latest map KannadaNaduWikiMap. This has happened about more than 5 times. Can't we protect the Kannada article for some time period so that only established users with proper proofs and those who comply with wiki-standards are allowed to edit it? Thanks a lot for your help. Regards, NitinBhargava2016 (talk) 04:30, 18 March 2016 (UTC)

@NitinBhargava2016: Hello, the current level is not yet enough to justify semi-protection. Administrators are reluctant to protect pages unless there is a high level of vandalism as it may also block other legitimate contributors without a registered account.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 07:20, 18 March 2016 (UTC)

@Alice2016: Hello, please read this guide: Wikipedia:Your first article and this two policies: WP:CORP, Wikipedia:Notability#General_notability_guideline.
I could not establish the notability of "Kustie Personal Care Co., Ltd." to justify its inclusion, but if you think that you can find the needed in-depth coverage about the subject from independent reliable sources as defined by Wikipedia:Reliable sources to establish its notability then let me know and I will be glad to guide you with the creation process. If you can't find the needed sources, I suggest that you choose a more notable subject for your first article. Regards.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 08:07, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

speedy deletion Wes Ives

Hello Crystallizedcarbon,

As explained in the article, Wes Ives was a major contributor of C&S rpg. He wrote supplements of high quality (Saurians) and contributes to the well known Thieves's world saga.

This happened already for Wilf Backhaus, a co author of C&S, that was too speedly deleted twice: " Wilf K. Backhaus – The article was sent to AFD in April 2011 with the only source as his obit at the time, and deleted with only one respondent, who concurred with the nominator. The article was recreated twice by User:Lord Doom, in August 2011 and January 2013, but was speedy deleted both times although the user tried to add a few sources. I restored the article to my user space last month and added two good reliable sources and moved to the new Draft space. I am not certain if it is ready to go back into article space, but I feel it is worth discussing. If any other users can find additional sources to add, that would help with any outstanding notability issues. BOZ (talk) 03:54, 7 January 2014 (UTC)"

Please, remove your deletion and put the article back, cheers

Dom — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lord Doom (talkcontribs) 17:03, 1 March 2016 (UTC)

@Lord Doom: Hello, the article was deleted by an administrator, so I can´t restore it myself. I was not able to find it in draft space either, If there is a copy in that space please let me know the link and I will review it. If you think that you can find enough in depth coverage from independent reliable sources you can recreate it in your Sandbox or in draft space. If you do I will be happy to review it for you and check if it meets our general notability guidelines. Regards.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 19:37, 1 March 2016 (UTC)

Wes Ives article

Hello, I have recreated the article. Please, can you review it. Cheers, Dom — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lord Doom (talkcontribs) 15:00, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

@Lord Doom: Hello, the references in the article still does not meet the WP:GNG requirements, the only source that may qualify as WP:RS does not provide in-depth coverage, as it is only a brief mention. I moved the article into your sandbox to give you a chance to try to improve it by finding additional coverage, as in its current state it would have been deleted. You need to add at least two independent reliable sources with in depth coverage (not trivial coverage or routine mentions). Regards.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 15:53, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

Platypus apicalis

Am I missing something? Platypus apicalis is the scientific name of the pinhole boring beetle. One of the links is bad but http://www.nzffa.org.nz/farm-forestry-model/the-essentials/forest-health-pests-and-diseases/Pests/Platypus and http://newzealandecology.org/nzje/2722.pdf these do discuss the beetle. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 09:13, 2 May 2016 (UTC)

@Jim1138: Thank you, I was confused by the broken links and the fact that I could not find the term in any of the working sources. The other problem that made me look at the article is the value chosen for the ref name parameter. I will not reproduce them as they are offensive, but take a look at the code of the page. Also please take a look at the series of edits by the two accounts that were just created. I have opened an SPI (Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Osterhob). I have removed the speedy delete tag, as I am not sure what the best way to address this would be since the content may be genuine (can´t know to what extent without being an expert) but there seem to be intentional violations of policy and they may be aimed at testing us. Any advice? Regards.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 09:26, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
Might be a couple of students who are collaborating on something. I wouldn't worry too much. Providence (religious movement). Now there's a bunch of wp:SPAs whitewashing their' fearless leader's article. There seem to be many strange editors here. Me for instance. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 09:42, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
@Jim1138: Maybe you are right, it is true that there is so many problems to fix that digging into a complicated one may not be the most time efficient way to help, but I think that from time to time it does not her to do it. Maybe I am being a bit paranoid, but some of the edits to the article do not make sense and naming the references "f**kwiki", "f**kthis", and "thissucks" used by two SPAs that were just created with close to 100 edits on one article in a couple of hours don't seem to be indicative of constructive editing. Maybe it is nothing or maybe someone wants to see if they can fool Wikipedia. We will see how it plays out. In any case I will now leave to play some golf. Cheers.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 09:59, 2 May 2016 (UTC)

Hello there.

My whole life I have studied about the great vassals and lords of the Kingdom of France in the years Anno Domini 1230 - 1290. I truly believe the manner in which Hugues XII de Lusignan, comte de la Marche et d'Angouléme is the one I edited the page with. I myself have lived in France for a very long time while deepening myself in these studies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:1811:D03:C600:8D38:AB57:F2A7:D3C8 (talk) 14:45, 11 May 2016 (UTC)

Is Amazon a reliable source for an author's book?

Hi Crystallizedcarbon! I saw you reverted my addition of this book citation, calling Amazon not a reliable source. Forgive me, but I'm confused. Why isn't citing a book's existence on Amazon considered a reliable citation? I thought an Amazon link to a book was considered a primary source, representing the work itself. If Amazon citations to authors' books are not reliable sources than half the authors listed in Wikipedia probably have this issue.

As for your other comment, that the page doesn't mention Steve Altes as a contributor, that is true, but he is listed as a contributor in the book contents, viewable here:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0740760475#reader_0740760475

Maybe that was the link I should have added. Anyway, I hope you can straighten me out on this. Thanks! Grotesque Skeletal Deformity (talk) 17:28, 12 May 2016 (UTC)

@Grotesque Skeletal Deformity: hello, as you can see here: Wikipedia:Identifying_reliable_sources#Vendor_and_e-commerce_sources, if there are no reliable sources availible, e-comerce sites like Amazon could be used, but just to verify the title or author. As you pointed out the link you used is not a reliable source to reference the claim that twenty of the subject's jokes were included in the book. I was not able to find were Altes is cited on the other link you included, In my browser is just again a page with Author etc. However If you have access to the book itself and can read the pages that can reference the text, you can use the cite book template to reference the book itself (which does qualifies as a reliable source for the claim that requires citation). Regards.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 18:00, 12 May 2016 (UTC)
@Crystallizedcarbon: Gotcha! That makes total sense. And I think that link I sent did have a browser issue -- works in Firefox, but not in Chrome. Cheers, Grotesque Skeletal Deformity (talk) 18:14, 12 May 2016 (UTC)
@Grotesque Skeletal Deformity: Great, the way you added the reference now is correct. If you can find an online link to the content that does works you can add it to the url parameter of the template, but if you can't there is no problem as the reference is correct as it is. Regards.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 06:12, 13 May 2016 (UTC)

This article has an unclear citation style. (June 2016) ..... I didnt understand the citation part what has to be corrected in this if you can help me it would be great.

This article may be in need of reorganization to comply with Wikipedia's layout guidelines.... how do i reorganize to comply with Wikipedia layout guidelines.

thanks & Regards Zaara --Zaaraalikhan (talk) 07:33, 28 June 2016 (UTC)--

Hello @Zaaraalikhan: For the references you need to use inline citations rather than just listing the sources at the bottom. Please read Help:Referencing for beginners. I think it will help you. I added the reflist template and one inline citation so you can see how it is done. Please make sure that all the contents of every paragraph are sourced from at least one reference. If needed, you can use a single reference in multiple places of the article. Also please keep in mind that blogs are generally not considered reliable sources.
As far as the reorganization, I have changed the bold text in the awards section to a sub-header and formatted your list with bullets. you can follow that format for the rest of the section.
Try it yourself, and if you get stuck or have any other doubts don't hesitaste to get in touch with me.
Regards --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 07:52, 28 June 2016 (UTC)
Also, please eliminate from the awards section those competitions in which the subject of the BLP did not win the competition or at least received a bronce award.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 08:13, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

@Markzy90:: Hello, the main problem with the article is that it needs in-depth coverage from independent reliable sources. Many of the current references are not considered reliable sources for Wikipedia, and in other cases there is no in depth coverage. You should try to find articles from reliable sources that provide coverage beyond mere mentions. If there is no such coverage now, it does not mean that the article can not be recreated in the future if the DJ gains enough notability to receive the needed coverage. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 07:20, 17 July 2016 (UTC)

It seems like every time we create a page for our brand artist, it gets deleted. How can we do it right? — Preceding unsigned comment added by World Bio-24 (talkcontribs) 19:50, 2 August 2016 (UTC)

@World Bio-24: Who is your brand artist? Do you represent this artist? Is he/she notable?
I recommend you read Wikipedia:Your first article. Regards.--Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 15:54, 3 August 2016 (UTC)
What do you mean he/she is notable. Of cause he is notable. We provided links of many websites that featured him yet many of you guys keep deleting his page every time we try to open one for him so his fans could read about him. — Preceding unsigned comment added by World Bio-24 (talkcontribs) 16:05, 28 August 2016 (UTC)
@World Bio-24: You can find what Wikipedia considers notable in this two pages: WP:MUSICBIO and WP:GNG. Basically, you need in-depth coverage by multiple reliable sources that are independent of the subject.
You still did not answer two of my questions. Who is the artist and do you represent him?
BTW, Remember to sign your comments on talk pages by adding --~~~~ at the end, or by pressing on the icon with an S and a pencil at the top of the edit window. Also place your comments at the right section or open a new one (there is a button for that as well at the top of the window)

How to publish information about my company on Wikipedia

hi... i am a young entrepreneur in the music industry working to legitimize my name. My Company, Ryan King LLC, is parent to two separate entertainment Firms. RKK Entertainment (Which focuses on providing production quality to live events with a specialty in lighting) and Attleboro Records (A record label with music on all major digital and printed platforms). Contrary to the way it sounds, this isn't some bullshit startup. I'm already well established in the industry and tour with groups such as Alabama Shakes, Martina McBride, and various electronic and EDM artists. Since the establishment of Ryan King as a limited liability company, I (Acting as Attleboro Records) signed myself as my own first client. Ryan King has a single releasing this friday on iTunes and spottily. Please tell me how i can get this information processed and put in to an article so that wikipedia can be a source of information for people curious and interested in Ryan King LLC or its daughter companies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Killjest51 (talkcontribs) 13:36, 19 August 2016 (UTC)

Changing content from another existing page with the same name is not the way to achieve your objective. Editing the page of another user because they reverted your edits is also a bad idea. Wikipedia discourages editors from creating content about themselves, their companies etc. See WP:COI. Your company will need to become notable before it can meet our policies for inclusion. You should wait until the company receives in depth coverage from multiple reliable sources independent of the subject and request that the article be created so that independent editors might take up the task. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 16:25, 19 August 2016 (UTC)

Academic associations

Academic associations tend to get coverage, both because academics tend to write a good deal, and because they get written about by other people; that's why I considered this one important enough to ward off the speedy deletion. Please remember that there's a difference between "important" and "notable" as far as deletion is concerned: to avoid A7 speedy deletion, the article has to demonstrate simply that the subject is important, i.e. it's something that might get a bit of interest, regardless of whether it really does, regardless of whether it passes WP:N. Basically, the bar is set a bit lower because speedy deletion gives no opportunity for investigation, and we wouldn't want to delete something instantly just because existing sources weren't yet present. Why should Long Bayou be deleted?

Long bayou is a notable condo complex. Is noteability the reason or is it because the page is too short? FlyerMan (talk) 15:01, 26 August 2016 (UTC)

Hello @FlyerMan: There is no claim of notability in the article and no references from reliable sources. Please refer to our general notability guidelines. If you still feel that it is a notable condo complex please let me know why. Regards. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 15:07, 26 August 2016 (UTC)

But Long Bayou is notable for having over 1000 residents (est.) and having four complexes in one. Also, could you please help me put references in? I am stuck. Thank you! FlyerMan (talk) 15:27, 26 August 2016 (UTC)

References added. FlyerMan (talk) 16:02, 26 August 2016 (UTC)

Hello @FlyerMan: I am happy to see that you could add references to the article. The problem is that in order to establish notability you need to find in-depth coverage from multiple reliable sources independent from the subject of the article. The two sites you added do not meet that requirement. Having over 1000 residents or four complexes does not make a condo complex notable. look for citations in newspapers, books etc. If you can find in depth coverage in them please add them to the article as you did with the websites of the condos. Regards. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 17:17, 26 August 2016 (UTC)

I cannot find any sources. I will just wait and see if anyone else contests deletion. Thanks anyway! FlyerMan (talk) 19:28, 26 August 2016 (UTC)

@FlyerMan: Thank your understanding. I am sorry I could not be of more help. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 22:50, 26 August 2016 (UTC)

I agreed with your reasoning and thanked you for your comment by clicking on the "Thank" link on the history of the page to the right of your edit summary. On the notices tray you will get informed when an editor thanks you for an edit or if an article that you created gets linked etc. The alerts will inform you when you have a new message on your talk page or when another user mentions or pings you (like I did at the beginning of this reply). Colin Cassady

Yeah, um, Big Cass is the name on the WWE webpage so the wikipedia page should reflect that. Besides, in the header, it says be goes by Big Cass now which is a version of his FORMER ring name Colin Cassady. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.189.36.218 (talk) 23:25, 1 September 2016 (UTC)

Please look at the consensus reached on this issue at Talk:Colin_Cassady. As you can see, the decision was to keep Colin Cassady as his name and as the title of the article. The page also clearly states that his current ring name is Big Cass. I was not involved on that discussion and have not a say in the matter, so if you still disagree with the consensus reached, you should voice your concerns at the talk page of the article. Regards, --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 06:55, 2 September 2016 (UTC)

Hello, the page was changed after a new discussion opened on the talk page and a new consensus for the change was reached. That is the proper way to make changes, even if there was a consensus against it in a previous discussion, like in this case. Please let me know who threatened with taking your ability to edit. Regards. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 07:39, 19 January 2017 (UTC)

Zachary King article

I added a primary source, a published magazine. I believe it is sufficient to meet the source requirements. Feel free to share you concerns.

--Jharris371 (talk) 12:40, 5 September 2016 (UTC)

Hello @Jharris371: The article still does not meet our criteria for inclusion. You should remove all references that are not reliable sources (blogs, etc.) from the article as they are not valid. The one from Crusade Magazine is questionable, but so far it is the only one that I could see remaining. In my opinion the only claim of notability in the article is that he saw the Virgin Mary and Jesus. This statement can't be made in an encyclopedic article without it been backed up by reliable sources and even then WP:NPOV should be observed. Please let me know if you cant find in-depth coverage by multiple reliable sources independent of the subject. If not, the article should be deleted. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 11:18, 6 September 2016 (UTC)

List of wild animals given human names

Hi there, this topic is worthy in the same way that the individual articles concerning various animals famed enough to attract human names are worthy. It is a fascinating phenomenon and it is worthy to collate all examples of the phenomenon under one "list" page.

I am new-ish to wikipedia editting, please let me know if I have blundered. Maybe I haven't created a distinctive "list" page, instead of an "article" page?

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bodiddly23 (talkcontribs) 10:58, 6 September 2016 (UTC)

Hello @Bodiddly23: Welcome to Wikipedia. Please read our general notability guidelines to see how to decide if a topic is encyclopedic for Wikipedia. You would need to find in-depth coverage on animals named like people from reliable sources to demonstrate de notability of the topic. For future articles I also recommend reviewing Wikipedia:Your_first_article. There are many notable topics that you can write about. Regards. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 11:05, 6 September 2016 (UTC)

Hi there @Crystallizedcarbon:, I am trying to make a list - like this one https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/List_of_heat_waves for example. A list of wild animals who have been deemed sufficiently charismatic to be given human names. It is a justifiable topic for a list I think, and an interesting topic. It is not an article. Surely notability criteria do not therefore apply?

I will reformat the entry to make it a list. Bodiddly23 (talk) 10:28, 7 September 2016 (UTC)

Hello @Bodiddly23: Notability also applies to lists (please see WP:LISTN). In the case of the example you mention, the subject of the list is notable and it complements the article Heat Wave. As I said before, to establish the notability of the topic you would need to find in-depth coverage on the concept of animals named like people (not particular cases) from reliable sources. As you can read in the point 6 of Wikipedia is not a directory -> Non-encyclopedic cross-categorizations Cross-categories like animals and human names are not considered sufficient basis to create an article, unless the intersection of those categories is in some way a culturally significant phenomenon. That would need to be established with the coverage mentioned above. Regards. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 07:04, 8 September 2016 (UTC)

How to un-mark page

Hey man.

You marked my page for deletion of a player who has just signed for my local club because it had no references, but i have now added 2 so if you could push me to how i can un-mark it as this that would be appriciated.

Kind regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by JohnTombs48 (talkcontribs) 11:50, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

@JohnTombs48: Please let me know the name of the page you are referring to. If it has been deleted please take a look at Wikipedia:Your first article to see if the biography meets our criteria for inclusion and how to create the page so it meets our policies. If there is in-depth coverage by multiple reliable sources independent of the subject then you are encouraged to create the article. Be sure to use a neutral wording. Regards. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 14:48, 14 September 2016 (UTC)
I checked the records and it turns out that the page you created was deleted by an administrator that deemed it was a blatant hoax. If that is not the case you need to add references to reliable sources to back up your claims. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 14:52, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletion

Hi, you placed a speedy deletion tag on Keven santos which the author removed, I advised him against doing that and reverted. He has since removed it again but I don't know how to proceed from here (don't want to create an edit war or bite a newcomer but I'm not over experienced myself) he appears to be trying to work on the article, but it also may be about himself, are you an admin that can advise/assist and look at the page again? Xyzspaniel (talk) 20:41, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

Hello @Xyzspaniel: Thank you for your help. Restoring a Speedy deletion tag removed by the author is always helpful. You can do it as many times as needed. It will never be considered edit waring or biting newcomers as the message on their talk page explains their options to defend the article but clearly asks that the template is not removed by themselves. The page was already deleted by an administrator and the user has been blocked. Regards. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 16:33, 15 September 2016 (UTC)

F-16 Edit

Crystallizedcarbon,

I am on a shared IP address and erroneously received your message about undoing an edit on the F-16 article.

Interesting enough, I shared this IP address as a member of an F-16 Maintenance Squadron. We generally know what we are talking about in regard to the F-16.

You peaked my curiosity and I had to have a look for myself to see what you had done.

Unfortunately, you are wrong. While the F-16 was made by General Dynamnics, it is currently made by Lockheed Martin.

The data plate (aft left canopy sill) on every F-16 manufactured since 1994 has Lockheed Martin written across the top. There is no mention of General Dynamics anywhere on the airframe nor in any technical order. Every screw, nut, and bolt uses a 81755 Cage Code (Lockheed Martin) rather than 95403 (GD).

In other words, if Volkswagen were to be bought by Mercedes Benz, and MB decided to continue manufacturing the VW Golf using all MB parts including Mercedes badging and sold in MB dealerships.... would you still call it a VW? No. It would be the MB Golf, originally designed by VW.

As a result, I suggest the following edit:

The Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon is a single-engine supersonic multirole fighter aircraft originally developed by General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin) for the United States Air Force (USAF).

Very respectfully,

BT — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.99.193.245 (talk) 15:52, 3 November 2016 (UTC)

Hello BT,
Your reasoning makes sense. I reverted the edit from your IP, because the title should match the first mention in the article. To make the change you would need to find reliable sources that show that the fighter is now referred to by that new name. Alternatively you can propose the change at the talk page of the article General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon. If sources show that "Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon" is the right name or if the decision is to change it to something different like for example just "F-16 Fighting Falcon" the change must be made both in the article and in the title. They should both match. If you need help with the process once you have located the references, please let me know and I will be happy to take care of the change. Regards. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 16:13, 3 November 2016 (UTC)

F-16 Edit Continued

Crystallizedcarbon,

Here are your references:

A. http://www.af.mil/AboutUs/FactSheets/Display/tabid/224/Article/104505/f-16-fighting-falcon.aspx

         please refer to section: "Contractor"

B. http://www.f-16.net/timeline_1993.html

please refer to entry "Mar 1993"

I was unable to find an image of one of the newer Lockheed Martin Aero data plates. Unfortunately, I am unable to take pictures at my place of work. I can promise you that I'm not lying.

I don't really care if you change this back or not. If you are OK with being wrong, so be it. I was only letting you know that, at this time, General Dynamics has absolutely zero to do with manufacturing the F-16.

V/r,

BT — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.99.193.245 (talk) 16:53, 3 November 2016 (UTC)

Hello BT,
Thank you for the information. I have done some research to confirm the information you gave me, but I found that the original title is still been used as well as the one you propose in different books: Mentions with General Dynamics in the name (761 hits) vs mentions with Lockheed Martin in the name (245 hits). The article clearly states that General Dynamics is now Lockheed Martin but it seems that the old name is more popular. if you search for Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon there is already a redirect to General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon. So based solely on this I believe that the old title should remain. However, since I am not at all versed on the subject, if you still think that the title of the article should be changed, please feel free to raise your concern at the talk page of the article to reach a consensus among other editors that may be more experienced on that article. Regards. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 18:51, 3 November 2016 (UTC)

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:57, 6 November 2016 (UTC)

Hello, I want to add this company. I have searched in wiki and found many Business intelligence company like Domo etc in the search results. I don't think so it should delete from here. It is a growing company and have a good reputation. In the current scenario, there are lots of business intelligence company but only 57 are listed in this category. So i think it should be listed here. And also I request to all of them which are running the Business Intelligence companies. They should also listed here.

Business intelligence is the Boom of Business world. and Wiki should also list these companies and people can get more information about business intelligence companies.

I hope you are getting me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Neeraj.kumar2005 (talkcontribs) 10:29, 7 December 2016 (UTC)

New page reviewer granted

Hello Crystallizedcarbon. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.

  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. -- samtar talk or stalk 12:15, 14 December 2016 (UTC)
