Adoption

[edit]

I would be glad to "adopt" you - there's really no formal way of doing it except communication. If you have any questions about the Wiki, feel free to ask me. If I can't figure it out, I'll ask my adoptor, Lethaniol. If your question manages to stump us both, we'll ask around until we get you a good answer.

As for userboxes on your userpage, I guess a good start would be to look at my userpage code. You can do that by going to my userpage (click on the blue "my userpage" link) and hitting the "edit this page" tab on top. This will show you the guts of my userpage - what makes it tick, so to speak.

As you should be able to tell, the first item is my "babelbox" section, or the languages that I speak (or program in), where I'm from, etc. I put this specific information in a babelbox as opposed to in the "normal" sections of my userpage, because first of all I think it looks better and more uniform with the rest of the userpages. Secondly, but most importantly, the babelbox system was devised to group like-minded, same-speaking people together for collaborative purposes. In plain English, the babelboxes are used so you can talk to people who speak your language.

Another thing you can do is maybe mention that you have been adopted. The way to do this is to edit your userpage, taking the {{Adoptoffer|NDCompuGeek}} template and changing it to {{Adopter|NDCompuGeek}} (capitalization is important on Wikipedia, especially with names and places).

I would like to know your computer familiarity in general, and specifically your familiarity with the Wikia Foundation and all the decendant projects they have (Wikipedia being just one of many). A first step to getting to know you, if I may!

I guess that's about it for now.... If (when...) you have other questions, comments, or just want to drop me a note to say you're still alive, please feel free to leave a message on my talk page! Uou already have figured that out, so I won't get into it.
