Image copyright problem with Image:Emancipation of Mimi.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Emancipation of Mimi.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. - Charmed, the source on the image page says that you took it from a geocities page. That page [1] clearly states that all the images are copyright by Rhythm Records. That would make the picture unfree and not useable on wikipedia without a free use justification. Sue Anne 03:31, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Skjermbilde12nq.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Skjermbilde12nq.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Thanks for uploading Image:Go_Deep_Video.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Serious image copyright problems
This account has a history of uploading images without specifying the source or copyright information. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Please do not upload any further images unless you are willing to correctly specify both the source and copyright. --Yamla 01:10, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

June 2006
I redirected it to Beyoncé Knowles discography because the article just repeats all the information that is already present in her discography article, and it doesn't make sense to have two articles about the same thing. I started a discussion at Talk:Beyoncé Knowles, and it was agreed that the article is unnecessary. If you believe that the article is necessary, you can discuss why at Talk:Beyoncé Knowles. --Musicpvm 22:23, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- Um, no, I am not watching you. You redirected 1, 2 Step (the correct grammatical title of the song) to 1,2 Step (an incorrect title), so I fixed that. --Musicpvm 22:21, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- You know, you can use the "history" button to see previous versions of pages? They are not gone. Click here for the version of 1,2 Step before it was redirected. If you want to add any of that material to 1, 2 Step, go ahead, but please do not redirect the article to an incorrect title. --Musicpvm 22:38, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
Ciara
You said: "I put a citing source beside chart positions on Ciara's singles. There is no need to put a stub saying it needs a source."
- Yes, but the citation does not cite the chart positions listed. It only cites a very small minority of them. --Yamla 22:42, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- Please STOP removing the notverified tag in the article on Ciara. --Yamla 19:12, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
Please don't undo my edits without discussion or explanation. With the length the article is at the moment, it just looks messy to have both a music video screencap and the infobox. Extraordinary Machine 21:53, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
Also, about Butterfly (Mariah Carey song): 1) it peaked at #16 on the Hot 100 Airplay and b) make sure you link to the right article, e.g. gospel music and not gospel. Thanks. Extraordinary Machine 21:57, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
- That doesn't appear to be a Billboard chart; see [2] for Billboard chart positions. Extraordinary Machine 22:06, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Infobox single templates
Please do not replace infobox single templates with raw code. The templates should be used on articles for several reasons. The code for the template occupies less space and is more organized and is in turn easier to edit. Also, when changes are made to the actual template, the changes appear on all the articles that use the template. If the templates are replaced with raw code, the changes will not appear in these articles and the single infoboxes will not be consistent with other single infoboxes. --musicpvm 23:12, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

Call on Me
Hi, you keep removing the fact that "Call on Me" has hit number nine in Japan according to the Tokio Hot 100. Many other singles on Wikipedia use this chart as the peak position in Japan. Ciara
You said: "Were you the one that removed Ciara's And I single cover because it is gone and for what reach if you did it?"
- Yes. The image was orphaned. However, the fundamental problem was that the image was missing the detailed fair-use rationale required by the license. All copyrighted images require a source (which identifies the copyright holder), an accurate license, and a detailed fair-use rationale for every use of the image on the Wikipedia. --Yamla 20:10, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
Orphaned fair use image (Image:Get Up.jpg)
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Get Up.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Yamla 00:49, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationales
ALL COPYRIGHTED IMAGES NEED A DETAILED FAIR-USE RATIONALE JUSTIFYING THEIR USE. Just adding the license is not sufficient. Please do not add any more images without the detailed fair-use rationale. --Yamla 04:08, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
You said: "This image qualifies as fair use because it is a legitimate cover of the album Design of a Decade 1986/1996. It was released in Japan with the international tracklisting."
- Please see here for more information on how to add a detailed fair-use rationale. Note that you must justify each specific article you are using the copyrighted image in. Also, the rationale generally goes on the image page, not the discussion page. Also, you need to sign the rationale. Thanks! --Yamla 04:14, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi! Thanks for adding fair use rationales to images. - The point is: Is bootyliciou's webmaster a reliable source? Can we take bootyliciou's webmaster's word for thruth? Does bootyliciou's site cares about copyright just as much as Wikipedia does? Does them provide the source for the image's they use?
- You could, though, mail bootyliciou's webmaster and ask him what's the original source for that photo. --Abu Badali 01:53, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

- Please never move pages by cutting and pasting the content into a new title. Pages should only be moved by using the "Move" tab at the top of each page.
- You may not have been aware of it, but Wikipedia has its own style guide described in the Wikipedia:Manual of Style. Please try to follow its advice. Edits that do not follow these guidelines may be changed to match what the WP:MOS recommends. Wikipedia does not require writers to follow all or any of these rules, but their efforts will be more appreciated when they do so.
- Currently, many articles still contain links to Naughty Girl, when those links should be changed to Naughty Girl (Beyoncé song). When you move an article to another title and create a disambiguation page at the article's original location, you should correct any links leading to the disambiguation page so that they lead to the correct page. See Wikipedia:Disambiguation#Links_to_disambiguated_topics.
- I have noted that you often edit without an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This is considered an important guideline in Wikipedia. Even a short summary is better than no summary. An edit summary is even more important if you delete any text; otherwise, people may think you're being sneaky. Also, mentioning one change but not another one can be misleading to someone who finds the other one more important; add "and misc." to cover the other change(s). Thanks! Unspecified source for Image:CiaraTheEvolution.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:CiaraTheEvolution.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Fair use rationale for Image:T63102u2zxf.jpg
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:T63102u2zxf.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 19:04, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:1302nsns.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:1302nsns.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Thank you. Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 15:35, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Re: LoveStoned
The reasons I nominated the LoveStoned article for deletion are a) it didn't cite it sources, which means it violates the "Wikipedia is not a crystal ball" policy, and b) every time I redirected it to the FutureSex/LoveSounds article, I was reverted. There's no point merging the article if isn't sourced to begin with and the redirect will be undone anyway. Hope you understand. Extraordinary Machine 13:17, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Pcdwaitaminute.jpg
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Pcdwaitaminute.jpg.
Ciara: The Evolution
The article is certainly not perfect. The whole idea behind Wikipedia is that users collaborate to improve articles. As far as the information that I removed, it constitutes original research unless a source can be provided. —ShadowHalo 02:57, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- If the meaning of the title is correct, then you need to be able to provide a source. I suggest you read Wikipedia:Verifiability, which states "The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth". As far as having lots of people edit an article, I strongly suggest that you read Wikipedia:Ownership of articles. "If you don't want your material to be edited mercilessly or redistributed by others, do not submit it." —ShadowHalo 03:07, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- I found a source for the title. The second sentence is a bit general, so I have my doubts that it'll be possible to find one, and it is probably best removed. —ShadowHalo 03:16, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

I'm quite confused as to why you changed the genre to reggae from its more specific subgenre ragga. In fact, reggae would appear to be less factually accurate considering reggae doesn't really take into account the song's dancehall influence. If you disagree, you may want to comment on the talk page. ShadowHalo 01:43, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- I've reverted your change to Luxurious for the same reason. Just saying R&B fails to take into account the influence of hip hop (new jack swing is the fusion genre of R&B and hip hop). ShadowHalo 00:53, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Your recent contribution(s) to the Wikipedia article 4 in the Morning are very much appreciated. However, you did not provide references or sources for your information. Keeping Wikipedia accurate and verifiable is very important, and as you might be aware there is currently a drive to improve the quality of Wikipedia by encouraging editors to cite the sources they used when adding content. If sources are left unreferenced, it may count as original research, which is not allowed. Can you provide in the article specific references to any books, articles, websites or other reliable sources that will allow people to verify the content in the article? You can use a citation method listed at How to cite sources. Thanks! ShadowHalo 23:59, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

Non-free use disputed for Image:VelvetRopeTour.jpg
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:VelvetRopeTour.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 19:53, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
Please do not add Category:2000s pop songs or Category:2007 songs to Shut Up and Drive. Category:Rihanna songs is a subcategory of Category:2000s pop songs and Category:2007 singles is a subcategory of Category:2007 songs, so the article was already in both of those categories. I had no idea I removed the template, sorry about that, I'll fix it immediately. As for the "2006 songs" cat, I thought that you only put that category for articles on songs (not singles), as the song is now a single. By that I mean, articles on songs that were not singles, but were notable enough to have a Wiki article, so that is a different category for non-singles. --- Realest4Life 00:29, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

That's Right
Hi there. I have no idea about whether "That's Right" is a single for the whole of Europe. So-Urban.com is the UK Urban web site from her record label so it will definitely be released as the next UK single.
Have no idea about the cover, I presume it's homemade as the single has only just been announced for the UK.
"Get Up" was released as a download single in the UK to promote Step Up last October but due to chart rules at the time a CD had to be issued for the song to chart, therefore the song was unable to chart. This year it was re-released with the Kardinal Beats remix but radio did not pick up the song a second time around and it was released as a download only single again but COULD chart (due to chart rules allowing download only songs to chart) but due to lack of airplay/video play/promo it didn't chart... so I guess that's why they're following it up quickly here! No CD release for "Get Up" has happened, twice!
I hope that makes sense... if you've got any more questions feel free to ask!

Good job, finally someone is actually smart enough to source the chart positions. Keep up the good work. --- Realest4Life 15:35, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Ciara in Dance-pop
FYI -- Ciara is NOT a Dance-pop artist, nor is "1, 2 Step" a Dance-pop song. She's an R&B artist that has a few danceable tracks, but that does NOT make her a Dance-pop artist. Mirror Ball
Get Up by Ciara?
You have yet to really explain why that belongs listed as a dance-pop song. Just because it's uptempo and danceable, doesn't make it dance-pop per se. I like the song and all, but I don't think it classifies as dance-pop. Mirror Ball
Get Up change
Much better. Ciara is so good, she deserves a newer categorization. She's the queen of crunk/hop after all. "1, 2 Step" IS Dance-pop though, so you were right about that one and I was really wrong (and dumb). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mwmalone (talk • contribs) 20:21, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

cant leave em alone Ciara chart success
hello, i dont mean to bother you by editing the chart section, but the only reason i do so is because questioning your resoning on what makes a successful single.
reaching 40 on Billboard whilst not the greatest achievement to some artists, cannot surely be deamed by everyone as 'unsuccessful'. its 40 out of a hundred.
Look at all other posts on other artists singles some of which have even failed to chart, in those articles there is NO OPINION from the editor about the success or failure of those single because chart information should contain facts not opinions, it is up to the reader to judge and see if its 'success' or not.
So where is the cutoff for a single being successful? top 30? top 20? top 10? top 5? see it clearly presents problems.
Furthermore you wrote that the single did reach the top 10 rnb billboard charts, so how does this still make it an unsuccssesful single?
think about it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikinite (talk • contribs) 09:05, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for uploading Image:Beyonceirreplaceablesingle.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 04:35, 4 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BritandBeyonce (talk•contribs) 04:35, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, just recently uploaded new cover for Irreplaceable, which i think, the Single's cover, this image above is a maxi cover. If you want to verify it, see the source I provided. if its not right, kindly change. Thanks. BritandBeyonce (talk•contribs) 03:03, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
My apologies. I only checked the reference next to the word Duration, so I assumed the lengths were coming from there. The source doesn't, however, include the songwriters and producers (though the ones from "Gimme More" probably don't need to be sourced since they're on the single for it). Is there a reliable source that has that information? 17Drew 01:46, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
Blackout Info
It's no longer relevant and it was just a rumor to begin with, the source wasn't credible either. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thankssir (talk • contribs) 19:51, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks!
Hey thanks for pointing out my mistake on Like a Boy. I read most of the article and glanced a few times and didn't notice the last section about tattoos. Thanks! SpigotMap 02:39, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Blackstreetgirlfriendboyfriendcover.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Blackstreetgirlfriendboyfriendcover.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use.
Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --βandβ (talk•contribs) 10:24, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Re: Gwen Stefani
I'm not really familiar with Gwen's overall music style but I'll see what I can do. Funk Junkie (talk) 17:10, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hey Charmed36. I took a look at the genre changing.... one in particular seems to be ok (power-pop) but I would definitely question indie or glam. I checked the article talk page however and I don't see any conversation about this, nor do I see any communication on Blah's User Talk Page. Has anyone written to him about his edits and/or tried to attempt a consensus? Perhaps a hidden editor's note can be placed in the genre field of Stefani's infobox and a discussion can be opened up in the article talk page. If Blah was placing obviously disruptive genres there, like country or opera or rap that would be one thing but I only see edits from this user from January 3, so it may be a simple case of Blah being new and not realizing his edits are questionable. - eo (talk) 16:50, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Image:Twenty Foreplay.jpg
I have tagged Image:Twenty Foreplay.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. --Geniac (talk) 16:22, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
Shut Up and Drive
Per this edit, I think that winning an award for Best R&B Song qualifies it as R&B. If you look on the People's Choice Awards site, you can see for yourself (if you don't mind the awful flash navigation). Dookama (talk) 08:03, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- Nothing to response to, hmm. I can source the assertion that it is R&B by citing an award it received. Can you find substantial sources saying that the song isn't R&B? Dookama (talk) 08:27, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Genres
Before this edit war gets any worse, I strongly suggest you source the genres if you don't want them removed. If the editor/IP changes a genre without a source, warnings can be given. I've also warned the other person from using IPs to edit war. Thanks. Spellcast (talk) 22:03, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- I'm sure they were. But if you want your edits to stay in the long-term, simply give a ref for the genres and the other person can't do anything about it. Spellcast (talk) 22:07, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- I know the user is using IPs and I'll block the account if s/he continues using them. But both of you aren't giving refs to support your genres. Surely it can't be hard to source it. Spellcast (talk) 22:32, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- Even i am fed up this genre fight. Something has to be done about it before it gets worse. Let us sit one day and source all the genres. This will shut them up. Indianescence (talk) 05:08, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- S/he was blocked for 24 hours. I'll still keep an eye out though, thanks. Spellcast (talk) 20:34, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- That's the person I blocked. I've got lots of Gwen Stefani songs watchlisted, so I'll be watching the edits. Spellcast (talk) 20:39, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Jenniferlopezbravev5bw0.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Jenniferlopezbravev5bw0.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 10:38, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
