Draft: List of songs recorded by Fey

[edit]

Hi, happy holidays! I saw your comment on my draft List of songs recorded by Fey, regarding Apple website as source, and I thought I had replied to it, but I don't think I did it properly, so I'll write it here.

Since those are mostly digital singles that didn't get a physical release, there aren't any liner notes to cite for the writing credits. Besides Apple, there's only Spotify, YouTube auto-generated audio clips or Discogs, would any of those be more suitable as a source? Pokémon Spears (talk) 20:09, 25 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Pokémon Spears: I see! That's ok then, probably better to use Apple as a primary source than Discogs or spotify in that case. BuySomeApples (talk) 02:59, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Happy New Year: question for you.

[edit]

Greetings from Toronto,

I have read articles after the tag which I assume is a very heavy suggestion to check my writing and make sure it's neutral and not in any way advertising the subject who I chose to write the page.

I made significant changes in the areas that stood out to me. I noticed that it looked like I was bragging about the subjects income potential when he was president of landscape films. And also I changed the introduction paragraph and took some words out to make sure it's not looking like a promotional piece.

I would like to concentrate my writing efforts and write about people in the film industry that have not yet been added to Wikipedia and have noteworthy information.

Would you mind taking another look at the page you tagged and reviewing? I really worked to make sure it sounds neutral after reading the appropriate articles. And I'm willing to do whatever work is necessary to have successful completion of pages! Thank you.

Tha page is Jeff SackmanJeff Sackman]]

Have a nice 2024. Colinwhite613 (talk) 15:16, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Colinwhite613: Thank you for editing the article. Unfortunately, it still sounds a bit promotional to me. Looking at other pages for film producers might help because then you can compare the kinds of words and tone used on those. BuySomeApples (talk) 03:00, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Draftifications

[edit]

Hello, BuySomeApples,

Hey, could you do me a favor? After moving an article from main space to Draft space, please tag the original page for CSD R2 speedy deletion, ideally using Twinkle. That means that admins patrolling CSD categories will spot these cross-namespace redirects and delete them. Many thanks and Happy New Years! Liz Read! Talk! 05:09, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Liz:, no problem! I'll definitely do that, and have a happy new years too! BuySomeApples (talk) 05:11, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I would some extra help for the page Draft:Adult Swim (Latin American TV channel): when my IP address was 79.43.56.233 I put some sources to that draft. I submitted a request, but I found out that you declined it. What's wrong with the sources I inserted? Is there something I should improve before submitting the draft again? 87.11.33.185 (talk) 18:47, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Tobin Siebers

[edit]

Hello. I don't understand why you moved the article. He's a notable figure, who should have had an article devoted to him long ago. I started a stub, now other people can work on it and exppand it. I don't have the time or interest to create a full blown article, but once the piece is up, others can contribute. Now we're just back to...not having an article on him, and I don't really understand how that benefits anyone.

It would be great if you coudl remove it from draftspace so other people can work on this article. Thanks NoahB (talk) 22:09, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @NoahB: an article doesn't have to be perfect (I've made plenty of stubs!) but it isn't that hard to make a basic stub imo. You don't have the time or interest to improve it, but why assume anyone else will? Adding a reflist and another source + sentence will do it, and won't take much longer than messaging me. If you do that, you can just move it out of draftspace yourself and guarantee that it will benefit someone. It'll be more helpful to readers too. Mick Bolton (Guitarist)

[edit]

Hello. There seems to be some confusion regarding the article Mick Bolton (guitarist). There are at least two musicians named Mick Bolton: a guitarist for UFO between 1970 and 1971 and a keyboardist for Mott The Hoople. The article discusses the two as if they were the same person. This is not the case, and Mick Bolton from UFO is still alive, although he has retired from public life. The article reporting the death of Bolton from Mott the Hoople used as a source on the page explicitly states: "He is not the guitarist of the same name who co-founded UFO". Yesterday, I simply removed the death date, which was a mistake because the article still contains incorrect information. That being said, the article cannot remain as it is right now. Until December 30, the entry 'Mick Bolton (guitarist)' was a redirect to the UFO page, and I would suggest making it a redirect again. Information about Mick Bolton from Mott the Hoople could be gathered for a separate article. Thoughts on this? Zappafripp (talk) 02:33, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Zappafripp: I guess this is a case of mistaken identity! Nice job catching that. I turned it back into a redirect to UFO since the guitarist is a different guy from the keyboardist. Making a separate Mick Bolton keyboardist page (or redirect) seems like a good compromise. BuySomeApples (talk) 12:28, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds great! Thanks for taking care of this! Zappafripp (talk) 16:56, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Comment

[edit]

Hello, BuySomeApples,

I think that there would be a quicker response to your CSD taggings for successful drafts if you cleaned them up, removed all of the AFC tags and got them main space-ready. Then tag the main space redirect via Twinkle as CSD G6 Move and put a link to the draft you want moved. Then the patrolling admin can quickly see that the draft is approved and ready and make one click, deleting the redirect and moving the draft at the same time. Make things easy for the patrolling admin and you'll see a quicker response.

Sometimes I see a request to delete a redirect to make way for a draft and it doesn't look like the draft has even received approval so there is no way I'm going to delete a valid redirect for what seems like an unaccepted draft. That's just me but I do spend a fair amount of time patrolling CSD categories over the course of a day and night. Just a suggestion but it might speed things up for an AFC reviewer. Thanks for all of the work you do here! Liz Read! Talk! 04:33, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Good point! Thank you @Liz: I'm going to do that. BuySomeApples (talk) 18:30, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I understand the topic is mentioned in Bryant’s article. However, I feel I provided enough reliable citations to explain why the topic deserves its own article. I included a section citing widespread influence and appeal for numerous big-time athletes. Can you go more in depth on why you think this isn’t worthy of an article? Jackvoeller (talk) 23:46, 13 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Jackvoeller: It seems like most if not all of those articles are about Bryant as a person and his legacy, not about the "Mamba mentality" as a discrete topic. A lot of athletes have spoken about admiring Bryant and his work ethic, but that's not really enough. It might seem nitpicky, but something like the Lakers wearing jerseys commemorating Bryant's "Black Mamba" nickname or Novak Djokovic wearing a t-shirt to honor his dead friend don't demonstrate how the concept of a "Mamba Mentality" needs a standalone page. For that, it would need to reach the level of a notable phrase or philosophy that's been discussed in enough depth to need an encyclopedia entry of its own. BuySomeApples (talk) 00:00, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I understand what you’re saying. However, since nearly all of the articles are directly about Bryant’s mentality (not his success as a player but rather how his mentality impacted that), and use the term “Mamba Mentality,” I believe this proves that the neologism is widespread enough as a reference to Bryant’s mentality for an article. The Lakers article specifically mentions the team “adopting” Bryant’s mentality in particular, and not many sports philosophies exist that are this widespread and have recieved coverage from CNN, Insider, LA Times etc. If i were to rewrite the article as a “neologism that refers to Bryant’s mentality” rather than simply as a specific “mindset,” would this make more sense? Jackvoeller (talk) 00:10, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jackvoeller: I'm not sure it's reached the threshold that a phrase or neologism would have to reach to be notable. You're welcome to try editing the article and resubmit for a different review though, with enough work it might get there. BuySomeApples (talk) 00:12, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I waited almost 2 weeks for the intial submission to be reviewed, and I feel I have provided enough sources to show how widespread the term is. Instead of resubmitting, I’d just like to understand why the topic “hasn’t reached the threshold” before I find even more articles and resubmit. Jackvoeller (talk) 00:19, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jackvoeller: I and 2 other reviewers gave you explanations, it's just that you disagree because you feel it's important. You didn't even remove the unreliable sources (like WP:MEDIUM) or sources that don't mention the phrase after the last reviewer told you to remove them. You should probably have done that in the time you were waiting. BuySomeApples (talk) 00:46, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 15:05:05, 16 January 2024 for assistance on AfC submission by Lrimawi

[edit]

Hi, I am writing to you as I recently tried to create a page on Wikipedia titled Anti-Palestinian Racism.

You declined the submission based on: "the subject of this article already exists in Wikipedia. You can find it and improve it at Anti-Palestinianism instead."

However, anti-Palestinian racism as described by the Arab Canadian Lawyers Association is a distinct form of racism and is recognizably different from antiPalestinianism as described by the Sydney Statement.

I noticed that there are other topics that have multiple wikipedia pages based on differences in their definitions or frameworks.

For example, I noticed that there are over ten separate wikipedia pages on antisemitism, including a page on "antisemitism", a page on "working definition of antisemitism" page, and a page on "anti-Judaism".

As I mentioned, anti-Palestinian racism is a distinct entity that merits a separate page on Wikipedia. Given a similar type of subject has multiple pages on it, I would appreciate it if you would reconsider your determination, and allow this page as an independent topic.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

Lrimawi (talk) 15:05, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Lrimawi: The lede of the existing page at Anti-Palestinianism is "Anti-Palestinianism, or anti-Palestinian racism". The page doesn't seem long enough to justify forking it off into separate topics, but you should discuss it on the talk page there if you think it's necessary. I'm not an expert and I'm not an active contributor to those areas so it might be good to discuss it there. As a reviewer, I can tell you that if a separate page were created, the draft you submitted would need to be improved A LOT (especially re: NPOV, due weight, and BLP). Talking about it with other editors might also help you to improve either the draft or the existing page. Let me know if this makes sense! BuySomeApples (talk) 02:04, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Buysomeapples, I have updated the draft i translated from nl.wikipedia.org with your feedback in mind. it would be great if you could verify it's ready as you are more familiar, thx Deondernemers (talk) 02:53, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks @Deondernemers:! I'm gonna take a look now. BuySomeApples (talk) 04:22, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your assessment of the draft. I'm not sure if I understood the assessment correctly. The public reception of top managers is of course always related to the company. In the case of Jeff Rowe, however, there are reports about his person - independent of Syngenta (Group). These are more frequent in German-speaking countries, but they do exist. Just recently, an lengthy portrait was published in the Neue Zürcher Zeitung. The medium has a reputation as a high-quality newspaper.

What can I do? Would it help, for example, if I provided translations of the German-language sources to enable a fair assessment? --JD at Syngenta Group (talk) 09:42, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @JD at Syngenta Group:! So the main thing is that you want to demonstrate that the person is independently notable in their own right. Otherwise, it makes sense to just add info about Jeff Rowe to the existing Syngenta page if relevant. CEO's of notable companies aren't always notable because sources often only talk about them in passing when they're reporting on the company.
Sources like that bio in Neue Zürcher Zeitung do help a lot, you should add any sources like that to the article. You should also take the last reviewer's advice and remove any uncited info, like birthdates etc unless you can add a ref for that. Once that stuff's done, you can resubmit for another review. Thank you! BuySomeApples (talk) 19:55, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also, you don't have to provide translations. Non-English language sources are totally fine as they are, if there's a lot of German sources that's cool. BuySomeApples (talk) 19:57, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your valuable editing suggestions

[edit]

@BuySomeApples: Thank you for your valuable editing suggestions on Global Value Chains and Development. After I was notified of your suggestions and feedback, I copy-edited the page making it 20% shorter than the previous version (2,453 words vs. 3,045 words). Particleshow22 (talk) 22:27, 18 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you @Particleshow22: that helps some but tbh I think it could be edited a little more. Right now the overview is about 1,500 words. Wikipedia:WikiProject Books/Non-fiction article suggests a maximum of 900 words, with 400-700 words being preferable. It makes it a lot more accessible to readers because it's more concise. Do you think you can trim it down? If not, I don't mind doing some editing but I think you might do a better job since you know the topic better. BuySomeApples (talk) 04:20, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm the creator of this draft in progress: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Draft:Convent_of_Santa_Maria_del_Ges%C3%B9_(Oppido_Lucano), very kind administrator I just wanted to inform you that this article I wrote is at a standstill for two months, I'm afraid that it might be canceled and I ask you if the review process could be speeded up or should I simply wait a little longer. Thanks in advance for listening. GiovAngri (talk) 17:24, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @GiovAngri:! I'm not an administrator, I just review pages. You don't have to worry about drafts being cancelled or deleted while they're waiting for review. They'll be able to stay there safely pretty much indefinitely. Two months can be a long wait but unfortunately there's a lot of submissions and not enough reviewers to handle them right away. Hello, could you elaborate on this edit to Spaces of Hope?
