[edit]Hi. SA military officers is unnecessary if the page is in South African Army generals already - generals is a subcat of army officers. Gbawden (talk) 10:41, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
- Except that I want to include all Generals, Admirals, Colonels, Majors, Captains etc in one category similar to other Officers by Nationality. BoonDock (talk) 10:46, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
Suggestion
[edit]G'day BoonDock. The response I have received over Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/André Diedericks has been severely lacking in WP:AGF and civility. So far, I have been abused on my talk page by some WP:DICK, and by another one and some new account on the AfD page itself. Two new accounts have been created purely to object to this AfD. No doubt, given you have been editing WP for years, you are fully aware of the prohibition on sock puppetry and meat puppetry, so I expect you wouldn't have anything to do with this behaviour. Nevertheless, if it continues, smoke=fire and all that. At which point I'll report it, and I reckon the clumsiness of the approach will most likely result in a long or indefinite ban from WP for whomever is responsible. Just giving you the benefit of a heads up, in the interests of us all having a pleasant place to edit. Cheers, Peacemaker67 (send... over) 06:51, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
- That's all well and good. Fact is that there is a discussion on Facebook about this. I can't control what other people do, so I'd appreciate you keeping me out of it. I've been nothing but civil to everyone and said everything I have to say openly and in public. I have neither solicited nor encouraged any response other than simply telling people that they can take part in the debate. Your comment of smoke=fire means that you are implicity accusing me and that this whole comment is some sort of veiled threat. I do NOT take kindly to threats. Don't do it again. Go ahead and report whatever you want. Make sure that you include in your report that you turned this on me with a threat with absolutely no evidence whatsoever that I had anything to do with it. Howdy, I marked you new article as patrolled and tagged it as needing more and better references. Linked In is not exactly a reliable source. I did manage to find this: http://www.dod.mil.za/sasoldier/2004/January2004.pdf. On page 35 is a nice write up on the retirement of Maj Gen Deetleefs, you could probably use that to fill in the blanks on his military career. Cheers. EricSerge (talk) 16:01, 22 October 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks a million! That looks great. There are a few other sources that I've found, mostly tangential however.. BoonDock (talk) 16:55, 22 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hi. Have to concur with EricSerge - where possible avoid linkedin, Facebook and other social media sites. Google should find articles in SA Soldier et al. Nice work on Paul Wijnberg - I have added him to List of South African admirals. Gbawden (talk) 06:56, 23 October 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks Gbawden! I agree that it's not a RS as defined here, but it is useful as an intial source of information to create a stub, I thought, hopefully prompting others to assist in finding references to substantiate.. BoonDock (talk) 07:07, 23 October 2014 (UTC)
