Chris Bennett (admiral)
[edit]I refer to your reversion of my edits on Chris Bennett (admiral), you ask "What was wrong with the Book URL?" Please see Template:Cite book under the URL section there is a specific instruction "Do not link to any commercial booksellers" Wikipedia is not a marketing tool for booksellers and authors. It is meant to be an independent and encyclopedic free source of information. Please will you remove the link to http://www.justdone.co.za/shop/index.php?id_product=4&controller=product in the book citation. The link in the External links section to the publisher is probably also not in accordance with wikipedia guidelines, but I felt that perhaps some leeway there was allowable.
I also think it is pretty bad manners to completely revert an edit that I put some time into to improve the article. Please see WP:REVERT Wayne Jayes (talk) 07:33, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
- Fair point about the commercial link I suppose, except that in this case it is a link to the PUBLISHER not just a book seller. What about the edit where you removed the direct wikilink and instead linked to a redirect page? Thank you for the other edits though. After rolling back the edit, I went and re-did the other changes you made. BoonDock (talk) 07:37, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
- As far as the wikilink to redirect is concerned, it is just my personal preference. I think
Kingswood College, Grahamstown
shown as Kingswood College, Grahamstown is more elegant and economical thanKingswood College, Grahamstown
shown as Kingswood College, Grahamstown. The result looks the same but the wikicode is better and clearer; as I say, just a personal preference and if you prefer the other way, that's fine.Wayne Jayes (talk) 09:44, 2 November 2014 (UTC)

Not sure why you reverted back to a dead link - the link I uploaded was correct and working. Thanks. [[User:thesocialpro] (talk) 09:40, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
- @User:thesocialpro Simple. 1. The page is about Hillcrest in South Africa, the link you posted was to Hillcrest in the USA somewhere. 2. Leaving the deadlink might stimulate someone to re-source the actual information that was referenced. Take a look at the Hillcrest you have WL as the header to this section. It's to a disambiguation page. The correct page is Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal BoonDock (talk) 10:31, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
- Took another look. As far I can figure out (here) is that the Hillcrest they are talking about is in San Diego, USA. BoonDock (talk) 10:36, 7 November 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
- Edward McGill Alexander
- added links pointing to Tempe, Kimberley, Free State, Pathfinder, Saldanha and Chief of Joint Operations
