Songs in quotes

[edit]

Thanks for adding the quotes to the songs on the Eurovision pages, it was long overdue. The only thing is that the translations should not be in quotes cause they are not songs. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 22:37, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Canadia

[edit]

Hello! I think you reverted some vandalism on the Canadia page at the same time someone else did; the net-effect being that you restored the vandalism! Or maybe I misunderstand the "History" tab. I'm sorta new at this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.143.188.113 (talk) 00:57, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I hope you don't mind my tidying up some of the links on your "redlinks" page; if you'd rather I hadn't, please just let me know and revert. I've left "George Wilson" at the bottom as a redlink as I was slightly nervous of breaking your formatting: in fact, there were two George Wilsons who played for Worcs, and both already have articles: George Alfred Wilson and George Clifford Wilson. Loganberry (Talk) 17:44, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply. I think you probably have left out a few players, since your total is 501 and mine is 513. Perhaps those who didn't play County Championship cricket, or who only played one-day games, aren't on your list? The one who comes to mind is Bill Athey, who played one National League match for Worcs in 1999, I think during an injury crisis. Loganberry (Talk) 19:06, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

unexplained deletion to PIV

[edit]

Hi there. Could you explain your rationale behind this edit please? --Rebroad (talk) 15:46, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bobo, thanks for your reply. One only has to google "PIV sex" to find 137,000 occurances of the term PIV relating to "penis in vagina". Please do be more careful next time, and WP:AGF unless there is evidence to the contrary. Many thanks, --Rebroad (talk) 18:50, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cricketer

[edit]

Hi. Can you please use stub tags e.g England-cricket-bio-1940s-stub so as other editors can expand the small articles you're creating. Thanks! The Bald One White cat 16:45, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

England-cricket-bio-1980s-stub

Look, evidently you care enough about cricket to be starting these missing articles. So why don't you care enough about them to want them to be developed into fuller articles. By not adding stub categories, in effect you are removing one of the most important tools we have for developing content on wikipedia. If editors are going through crikcet stubs looking to expand them, they will be missing your stubs because you couldn't give a damn about tagging them. I think it is grossly ignorant of you to not even respond on this. The Bald One White cat 21:28, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thankyou for your response, much appreciated, as you did continue earlier when I tried to contact you several times in good faith I took it as purposefully ignoring me. I can understand why you don't apply stub tags if you feel they cannot be expanded any further but is it not impossible that somebody might have information particularly for modern players which they could use to develop articles? I mean how are you to know what information there is in South Africa for instance on any of its players? There are SOuth African users on here and undoubtedly ones interested in cricket. its just I want to see consistency and articles develop more fully. I'd imagine that the country clubs have information on its past players, newspaper extracts from decades ago etc. Well best of luck and I appreciate your work on cricket, you know this, I'm just trying to ge tthe best out of our articles in the long term The Bald One White cat 22:20, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bobo. I think you should do it, if nothing more for the fact that someone else will add them anyway. YellowMonkey (bananabucket) 01:35, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

David Evans

[edit]

Hi Bobo. Happy New Year! I've created an article for David Evans, the ex-Glamorgan player who became a Test umpire. I then found that David Evans (cricketer) already existed as the Hertfordshire List A player of 1967 and 1968, so I moved him to David Evans (Hertfordshire cricketer) and created a redirect page for David Evans (Glamorgan cricketer) and a disambiguation page for David Evans (cricketer). It then turns out that David Evans (Hertfordshire cricketer) already has an article because, among his attributes, he was also a Conservative MP, so is David Evans (British politician). I think I've sorted out the various disambiguation pages, but hoped you might take a look to see if it's all clear. I thought anyone searching might look for David Evans or for David Evans (cricketer), so those were the dab pages to be particularly unambiguous on! Cheers. Johnlp (talk) 23:39, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the notes. I'll try to create articles on the two Somerset Evanses this weekend and then see where we get to on the dab pages. Johnlp (talk) 11:06, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Your mass article creation on New Zealand Cricketers.

[edit]

Hi. It may not have been your intention, but the mass article creation made at 04:04am UTC has raised an issue that you may be using an unauthorised bot to create your articles. 14 article creations in 1 minute, at a rate of 1 approximately every 3.5 seconds is excessive. If you are using a bot for anything here, you need to visit Bot Requests For Approval in order to have it approved prior to use. In the mean time, please ensure that you only create one article at a time until this has been dealt with. If you have any questions, please contact me on my talk page. Thanks. Can you do me a favor and find out approximately how many people made it out alive from both of the Twin Towers after hit on September 11, because I'm sure more people made it out than died, and I just want to be sure. Thanks. Please respond when you can.

[edit]

Why are you reverting my edits....The info is a. sourced and b. the article now is factually inaccurate. Clicking the reference as it states will tell you the man is incarcerated at Bin Sandy USP in Eastern Kentucky, NOT Atlanta, GA. No problem...the reference to it is actually the Augusta Chronicle article on him.....when you read the access to a middle class life he had, it makes the career of crime more poignant. 12.19.50.73 (talk) 18:58, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

TOCright

[edit]

Could you please clarify the issue with TOCright? Where an article (VBScript in this instance) has been divided in to sections to give it some structure, an inline TOC ends up pushing the main content below the fold. Setting the TOC to the right, and allowing the text to flow around it, achieves being able to see the body and the TOC as well. Thanks. Greyskinnedboy (talk) 01:39, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Derbyshire

[edit]

Thanks for the appreciation on Derbs redlinks. The names may seem obscure but they included seven club captains, in particular the one who won the county championship, two major industrialists, a baronet, a High Sheriff, and possibly the only other medical doctor to grace first class cricket. No problem. I've also noticed that you have filled out Henry Lette's article but I think you have got him mixed up with Henry Allison. I'd fix it myself but I wasn't sure which of the two players you intended the article to be about. Cheers. Jevansen (talk) 05:16, 21 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article on Henry Lette had Henry Allison's infobox and the category said he was a Victorian cricketer, although he only played FC cricket with Tasmania. I've made the required changes but you might just want to make sure I've fixed it correctly. The infobox was already there before you made your contributions to the article so it seems that was User:Robert Fleming's error. Jevansen (talk) 09:38, 21 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Morton's fork

[edit]

Hi Bobo - glad you enjoyed the Arthur Morton article - moral never take a motobike ride with one of the opposing team. I was completely confused when it suddenly seemed to have a different name from the one I created. I was happy to go along with just "cricketer" as he was several orders of magnitude a more significant cricketer that the one-match-wonder, but I am not too bothered. A slightly similar situation arose with the Richard Sale(s). The younger one was always referred to as Dick (except in official circumstances) and did a lot more than play cricket so I set him up as Dick Sale. That made it possible to identify his father as cricketer without the date. Couldnt change your list as it is just too big. Regards Motmit (talk) 17:22, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Derbs

[edit]

Hi Bobo - here is my immediate target list as they had long careers, played for other counties or were otherwise notable

I may do any others I pick up as red links in articles. There is a bit of a gap from 1888 to 1893 when Derbs was out of the Champs. Most players overlapped that period but there are a few that only appeared then. For completeness it would be good to identify them but would it be an idea to combine them all in one article if they do not qualify for their own articles? Regards Motmit (talk) 12:25, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there BOBO, VASCO from Portugal here,

I just read your message about this article. Let me start by saying i sometimes get carried away in my edit summaries, but in no way is my intention to offend the good editors who contribute their hearts out (and for free i imagine!). Only with vandals am i intentionally aggressive (and "reportive").

Regarding the specific interaction in this footballer's article, i just checked the article story from its conception, and in no way did i comment about the first edit, yours (see here http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Mathurin_Kameni&diff=prev&oldid=17323562), which was almost perfect. The problem starts here (http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Mathurin_Kameni&diff=next&oldid=258349076), when user ZOMBIE433 created separate sections for CLUB and COUNTRY, and the first section starts with "And as of 2004 was playing for Cotonsport Garoua, he moved in January 2005 to Racing FC Bafoussam before in July 2005 transfered to Egypt club Haras El Hodood." - this is what i commented on, without naming names.

That's it for the moment, my wiki-friend. Sorry for any incovenience, all the best to you too. If you need anything just whistle, have a nice week,

Hi Bobo - thanks for the list - less than 20.. hmm. Once all the players (and gents) are in place I hope to build up a history - perhaps starting with the opening season? Regards Motmit (talk) 08:30, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What do you think Derbyshire county cricket opening season ? Regards Motmit (talk) 20:39, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
At the moment it stands as a special. If I create a few more I will move it as you suggest. I have a suspicion, but I may be wrong, that new articles with years in the title get diverted from the normal identification process. Regards Motmit (talk) 22:24, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Re your 1895,I find it a little overwhelming with text, but perhaps with the tables that could be reduced a bit. Regards Motmit (talk) 22:34, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Bobo - coincidentally I have just pulled out the data to build the tables for 1936. If you are ahead of me on this, carry on as there's not much lost, but if not I am happy to continue with them. Regards Motmit (talk) 12:57, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bobo. Good to hear from you again. I'm getting along okay at the moment. I returned to WP a couple of months ago and finding plenty to get on with. There was always a chance that a Hampshire cricket fan would take KS out. Actually I have come across two Derbyshire players who were not on your redlist, so there may be more. You will see I have set up Derbyshire County Cricket Club seasons and have redlinked some of the seasons which I have in the pipeline. Regards Motmit (talk) 11:23, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Frederick Newton (cricketer) and Charles Freeman (cricketer) (one match wonder), turned up in 1911. There was also George Davidson's brother Frank Davidson.
I don't know of any books about DCCC. I have taken some stuff from W T Taylor's article History of Derbyshire Cricket which is online from Wisden 1953. There is also some material in the Ric Sissons book, mainly about tha am/pro divide. Bygone Derbyshire throws up some useful material, often unsourced. I see our obsessive IP has paid his visit and left poor old KS all alone. Regards Motmit (talk) 21:28, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Took pity on poor Keith. Dont think you should be too sad it is done as there are plenty more teams to be done. I'm quite please as I managed to complete my other long term exercise of all English MPs elected in 1885. Regards Motmit (talk) 00:00, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
