Your reversion

Hello, can you take a close look to my revert at the Vincent Moon article? That's not vandalism from my side. The other person is general vague tagging, I ask for specification, which he doesn't. Please revert his edit instead of mine. 83.87.170.234 (talk) 17:40, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 15:50, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

You just reverted an edit putting this article into Category:Scripting languages. Curious why you did that. There some 160 articles in Scripting languages - which is a subcategory of Category:Domain-specific programming languages. Is Perl Shell not a scripting language? Should all 164 Scripting languages be moved to Domain...??? Really am curious. 69.106.246.15 (talk) 18:58, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

OK, thanks, I'll revert it. There were many similar edits. If you reverted others would you please revert them yourself, saving me the trouble of looking for them. btw, its keeps conversations intact if you reply on the same talk page. Thanks, 69.106.246.15 (talk) 20:14, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Undergrad numbers...

The numbers I added a few month back were from the college website... Not sure where the new numbers of 11,000 are from, they are simply way too big... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.149.136.201 (talk) 21:31, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Replying here as I can't tell if you are watching that IP's talk page.

Thanks for the kind words. I do have an account, used mostly when editing articles. When chewing through lots (hundreds) of category revisions I prefer to use an IP address. Hadn't thought about why it evolved that way, but, looking back, article edits expose me to only people interested in that article and that's ok - we have a common interest, even if sometimes not a common view. But cleaning up categories by the hundreds exposes you to hundreds of people with whom you share essentially no interests. The IP address keeps those communications separate - which I like. 69.106.246.15 (talk) 22:30, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Rollback

I have granted rollback rights to your account; the reason for this is that after a review of some of your contributions, I believe I can trust you to use rollback correctly by using it for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck and thanks. Your RfA

Dear Astatine-210,
I've closed your RfA early per the Wikipedia page WP:NOTNOW, as it had little to no chance of passing at the present time. Please do not let this failure dissuade you; as the comments of people on both sides attest, you've been doing good work so far. I'd encourage you to maintain your standard of editing, review the comments of those who participated, and consider trying again in several months time if you so choose. —Anonymous DissidentTalk 06:54, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Just a small note - NOTNOW is not a Wikipedia policy in any way shape or form. I'm correcting this simply so there is no confusion in the future. It is merely a essay that exhibits a rough consensus. Wisdom89 (T / C) 07:01, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
To be clear, this is for your benefit, not AD's. Wisdom89 (T / C) 07:01, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
You were quite right to correct me, Wisdom. Sorry, it was a mere slip off the mind. —Anonymous DissidentTalk 07:21, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Your RfA

Someone on my talkpage was worried that my comment on your Rfa might have been misinterpreted. I'm sure you got the joke obtainable by clicking the link, but just in case.... Please keep up your good editing, and I hope to see you on RfA again in due course. Regards, Newyorkbrad (talk) 13:19, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Adoption?

Thank you. :] I have a question...when you edit the articles, is it right to take out a paragraph that doesn't seem to be written correctly without the persons permission? I have come across quite a few articles written in this way, but I'm afraid to take the paragraphs out...so I just leave them. :] Should I ask first, or no? Also, have you ever created any articles? If so, do you have an advice on creating them? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Papercutbiology (talkcontribs) 12:43, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for the advice and links. :] Hopefully I have the signature thing figured out. I was a little confused with the way it worked. As for recurring vandals, are administrators/moderators the only ones able to give warnings on the talk page? People who vandalize the articles after I have reverted them tend to do it again. Thanks again! :] Papercutbiology♫ (talk) 14:53, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

Adoption offer

Hello, and thanks for the offer of adoption. I am thinking it over. On your userpage, and also in the list of adopters, you seem to emphasize reverting vandalism, which while definitely helpful is not really what I'm here for, and chemistry, which while interesting is not a strong interest of mine. I'm somewhat uncertain how important it is to pick an adopter that shares my interests... Thought I'd leave a message here and ask for your thoughts. ESentinel (talk) 15:38, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Not as important, I'm just here to guide you. astatine-210 discovered elementswhat am I? 23:25, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

MfD of user pages

Good day...

I have noticed a couple of recent MfDs of user pages have been done in very short time after the account was created. I wanted to touch base with you to see if there is some reason for this immediate response to nominate rather then talk to the user and welcome them.

When I got to your userpage, I was very surprised and taken aback by the irony that you have a userbox that states "This user is a member of the welcoming committee" and another one that indicates you are adopting users. I find these two user boxes to be in direct conflict with your actions on the MfDs. One fo the nominations was done the very same day the account was opened. I get there is a lot of webhosting, spamming and myspacing happening on user pages, but going after accounts who are days old seems counter-intuitive to welcoming and fostering a colaborative environment.

I would love to talk this out with you, perhaps there is something I am missing. --Jordan 1972 (talk) 23:38, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

You see, I don't normally do this, but the userpage was covered with "buy this knife" and "go here", etc., etc., etc. I wasn't trying to drive off the user, but I wanted the info at least changed. I wasn't too sure what to do. Since you're not me, you wouldn't understand what my intent was. I don't want this to escalate into a heated debate, so lets try to keep a cool head. astatine-210 discovered elementswhat am I? 23:42, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
Note There were other userpages there, of new users. I didn't know he was new, I don't know how to check :). astatine-210 discovered elementswhat am I? 23:48, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
Feel free to close it. Let me know if you do. astatine-210 discovered elementswhat am I? 00:01, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
I am not trying to make this into a heated debate, I thought my comments above were quite neutral -- they were at least intended that way. You indicate that you don't normally nominate pages and did not know what to do about these pages; I would like to make a couple of suggestions you could consider for future consideration. First, add a welcome message to the user page, I use {{welcome}} and then add some personalized text below it to talk about the user page issues; have a look at the examples I used on the user talkpages for example. Second, if the userpage (or a section) is truly a *major* violation of the WP:SPAM or WP:BLP rules, blank the offending sections -- avoid doing the whole page unless the entire page is a problem. Third, if the user refuses to address the page after leaving the welcome message if you have not blanked anything or re-inserts the offending text if you have blanked a part then consider going to MfD. to see when a user account was created, when you are on the User Contribution page, at the top you will see a link to "Logs" at the top just under the page title. By clicking on the Logs link, you can see various actions taken by the account, the account creation should be the oldest entry. --Jordan 1972 (talk) 00:04, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
I was just saying... I know about {{welcome}}, I (at the time of writing) just used {{Welcomeunclesam}}. astatine-210 discovered elementswhat am I? 00:06, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Questions

I would like to ask you my questions because you are interested about the chemical elements, like me.

  • In school, what grade are you in?
  • How old are you?
  • What's your birthdate?
  • Where do you live?

If you want to look at my facts, see my user page. BlueEarth (talk | contribs) 17:13, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Extended periodic table and list of 218 elements

Since you are interested about the chemical elements and you've memorized all the element names and symbols, you should look at my wiki-site article Extended periodic table to look at the table of 218 elements all having names, even made-up names. Also you should look at the List of elements for the properties of all 218 elements, even including speculative and theoretical properties. BlueEarth (talk | contribs) 17:13, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Alright...

I started using Lupin's tool, but I didn't like it very much. It was kind of hard to use. So, I'll try Twinkle next. I can't download anything on my computer, and I'm not sure if I want to. For that reason, Mike's Wiki tool may not be an option for me. :] Which one do you use? As for the archiving, yeah I saw that at the last moment. Papercutbiology♫ (talk) 12:07, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Alright, cool. I'll stick with Twinkle for now, though. Thanks. Concerning pictures in articles...should I just take them out if they do not seem to go with the article? Or, should I address it in the discussion? Even though, I'm wary of joining discussions. :] Papercutbiology♫ (talk) 14:33, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Usually, discuss it. See WP:PICTURE. If its bad, replace it with a good one, find a good one, or make a good one. astatine-210 discovered elementswhat am I? 21:23, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

As for new comers spamming their own user sections, leave it or erase it? :) Papercutbiology♫ (talk) 11:42, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Okay, then. I think you've almost told me everything. Nothing left to ask until I run across something. Heh. :] Papercutbiology♫ (talk) 14:31, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Thank You

That guy has already made 3 attacks against me. He's kind of getting annoying now. :/ He keeps reverting the fourth dimension article after someone was nice enough to make constructive edits to it. I don't know what else to do with him. Thanks for the concern though. :] Papercutbiology♫ (talk) 00:36, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

No problem. I reported the culprit to WP:UAA. Dyl@n620 21:42, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

Re: Adoption

Thanks again for the offer of adoption. I have changed my mind and am not interested in adoption at this time. If I decide sometime in the future to try again to become more active, I will probably reapply. Doesn't work for me right now though.

Thanks for being willing to help.
