In reading the articles about Gypsy-Rose and her mother, both provide evidence that her mother claimed her daughter had various illnesses from a very early age, which is more akin to Munchausen by Proxy versus a fraud perpetuated by both of them acting together, which appears to be what the connection evolved to.
