Invitation

Thank you for using VisualEditor and sharing your ideas with the developers.

Hello, Acagastya,

The Editing team is asking very experienced editors like you for your help with VisualEditor. The team has a list of top-priority problems, but they also want to hear about small problems. These problems may make editing less fun, take too much of your time, or be as annoying as a paper cut. The Editing team wants to hear about and try to fix these small things, too.

You can share your thoughts by clicking this link. You may respond to this quick, simple, anonymous survey in your own language. If you take the survey, then you agree your responses may be used in accordance with these terms. This survey is powered by Qualtrics and their use of your information is governed by their privacy policy.

More information (including a translateable list of the questions) is posted on wiki at mw:VisualEditor/Survey 2015. If you have questions, or prefer to respond on-wiki, then please leave a message on the survey's talk page.

Merging of Instagram and Instagram Shop

I think that both of these articles should be merged because the article "Instagram Shop" is just an add-on from the actual Instagram application. Merging these articles will also make it easier to find. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.216.105.210 (talk) 15:21, 1 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Oh didn't know that. I am Christian if you don't believe in this real god when you die you will go to hell. It is horrible there but if you believe and take him as your saviour, you will go to heaven god will make manshions to live in you will live for all eternity.

to take him as your saviour you have to believe that he died on the cross and confess it you dont need to hida and do it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chacko989 (talkcontribs) 15:50, 1 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I am not Christian, and the thing is I used to believe in them till 5th grade. But many things were not clear and thus I did not find any actual need to believe them.
I have never heard of someone coming back from hell: you how do one know that hell is not a comfortable place to live? (DO NOT take me in a wrong way: I feel that and I am not insulting any religion).
And eternity? Why to be eternal? One comes, lives, do their part of work and die! Considering him as saviour? THIS shows that we are actually scared to die and also of our fate! So do you love him to go to heaven and enjoy life in mansion? I would prefer serving humanity better than wasting time Like I am doing now on debating if some imaginary mythical person is there or not.
And this is not going to do any good to anyone for debating about it. You may better e-mail me for these type of discussions. Or probably avoid these type of discussions to any Atheist so that this doesn't make you feel wrong about them!

Archive

Ok, so the code is:

{{User:MiszaBot/config |archiveheader = {{talk archive navigation}} |maxarchivesize = 70K |counter = 1 |minthreadsleft = 6 |minthreadstoarchive = 1 |algo = old(20d) |archive = User talk:Acagastya/Archive %(counter)d }}

Look in the editing window, it is easier to see the different parts there.

  • |archiveheader = {{talk archive navigation}} is just the header for the archive pages. Don't touch it. It will look like this:

  • |maxarchivesize = 70K is how large you want each Archive page to be. 70 kilobytes is a rather normal and manageable size.
  • |counter = 1 This is the archive page number the bot is currently archiving to. You should always start at 1. This will grow automatically as your archive grows. Mine is now at 7.
  • |minthreadsleft = 6 This is how many discussions you want left on your page at any time. Sort of an override for the date of the threads. Some users have this set at 4 but you can choose a convenient number depending on the traffic on your talk page.
  • |minthreadstoarchive = 1 How many discussions should be archived at the same time. It is best to keep this at 1, one discussion at the time.
  • |algo = old(20d) How old a thread/discussion can get before getting archived by the Bot. The (20d) means 20 days. If you have a lot of traffic on a page this can be a shorter time. Some users that are not so social have it set for (90d) or more. It's up to you. A discussion must have a time stamp to be archived. If one has not, it will be ignored until you post on it and sign it.
  • |archive = User talk:Acagastya/Archive %(counter)d Where you want your archived sections to end up. This corresponds with the "counter" and puts the threads on the right archive page.

You also need a box where you can access your archive in an easy way. There are several at Help:Archiving a talk page#Archive boxes. Good luck with your archiving! :) w.carter-Talk 17:44, 2 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that! :( In showing you how the header for the archive looked, the Wiki thought that this page was an archive page and disabled all the (edit) for the different sections. If you want to see how the header looks, go to the page if the template. Again, I apologize, w.carter-Talk 17:57, 2 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @W.carter: for helping me out! I hope i wan't rude at The Teahouse: I wanted to learn it but at the same time I was not sure about the words that I had chosen to elucidate the situation!
I am really sorry if my response made you feel so!
And I won't be there for editing for 10 days as my entrance exams are starting from 4th of April!
I will complete these archiving and other tasks afterwards.
Goodbye!
aGastya  ✉ let's talk about it :) 03:46, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You were not rude at all. I am really proud of you for wanting to try yourself and learn. The "sorry" part here + the sad smiley was because for a short while, I messed up the functions of your talk page with the display of the code. That was a bit embarrassing for me. But maybe the messing up was for such a short while so you did not notice it and therefore misunderstood what I was talking about. Good luck with your exams! Please tell me how it went when you are done. :) Best, w.carter-Talk 08:35, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@W.carter: You explain much better than me ! Komchi 13:59, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have just been doing it for a bit longer that you have, Komchi. Don't worry, you are doing fine and in time you will get there as well. Cheers, w.carter-Talk 16:15, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@W.carter: Is there any procedure to change the numbers?
Instead of 1, 2, 3... or Archive 1, Archive 2, Archive 3... can't I have Greek Alphabet or something like that?
aGastya  ✉ let's have a constructive talk about it (: 10:35, 8 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I know the Bot archiving system is programmed to numbers. If you create any other parameters you will have to set up a system of manually archiving things of your own and the normal archive boxes will not support such a system. I don't think Greek letter are such a good idea here since the archives are not just for your benefit but for other users as well. I know that you want to make your stuff personal to make it cool, but there are also times when doing personal stuff becomes just "odd" rather than "cool". I would recommend that you use the existing way of archiving to make it easy for other editors to interact with you since you are a rather social editor. Best, w.carter-Talk 10:47, 8 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

More coding tips

Hello! This is for you when you get back from your exams.

So, some more tips about getting coding right. I saw that in one of your answers at the Teahouse you referred to an archived question. Two things about that:

  • First you used a "normal" link: [https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions/Archive_311#Barn_stars.3F| this]. When you link to something within the Wikipedia world you should always try to make a Wikilink instead, it is just as easy if you know how to do it. (I have had my own fingers slapped for being lazy about this, so don't repeat my mistake. ;) ) In this case you should write [[Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions/Archive 311#Barn stars?|this]] resulting in this. The # symbol marks the section.
  • Second, when/if you use a normal link with the single brackets [] you do not use the |, you just leave a space between the link and the explanation. The added | messes up the link code and will only direct to the entire page, not the right section. Click on these two examples and you will see the difference:
    • [https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions/Archive_311#Barn_stars.3F| this] resulting in this
    • [https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions/Archive_311#Barn_stars.3F this] resulting in this

This time, the user who asked seemed to have found the right section anyway, so no harm done. But I know you like to do things the right way. Cheers, w.carter-Talk 09:08, 4 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I understand!
Thank you!
