Please stop using Wikipedia to try to 'advance an agenda'

Many of your recent edits to Wikipedia have been quite inappropriate, and I've spent a lot of time trying to clean them up. Yes, it's perfectly appropriate to note (e.g., in the lead sentence) the native-language spelling of a name (preferably with a language tag), when it's different from the name's most common spelling in English. But you don't get to change the English language. If a name's most common spelling - when written in English - happens to omit a diacritic (i.e., something that's not part of the English alphabet), then you shouldn't use Wikipedia to try to change this. Please read WP:ENGLISH, WP:RIGHTGREATWRONGS, as well as WP:COMMONNAME and WP:OFFICIALNAMES. Please note also that "wiki.riteme.site" is merely 'the English language Wikipedia'. (There are also "<lang>.wikipedia.org"s, for many other languages.) "wiki.riteme.site" is not a single all-consuming encyclopedia that is intended to encompass all of the world's languages and alphabets. Please keep this in mind in your future edits. I'm sorry, I'm sort of new here.

I was wondering if it would be ok to add the correct/native names to the infobox in the native name category? I found these links: http://planning.hawaii.gov/gis/hbgn/ This page has links to lists of the corrected place names (in English) in Hawaii by island including the names of the populated places I edited.

Yes, entering the native-language spellings of the names in the infobox (under "native_name") is often done, and is perfectly appropriate.
I urge you, however, to be careful not to get obsessed with the word (or concept of) "correct", especially when considering English-language usage. English usage is descriptive, rather than prescriptive. Unlike some languages (e.g., French), there's no central authority that dictates 'correct' usage in English. Generally, actual common English-language usage is preferred, even when some government body declares some other name (and/or spelling) to be 'official' or even 'correct'. (In that case, note WP:OFFICIALNAMES; sometimes it may be appropriate to add a note mentioning the 'official' name/spelling, if it's different.) I know that in Hawaii the newer road signs (including street names) are all spelled with Hawaiian orthography (e.g. 'Ōhelo Kau Lā'au Street, 'Ō'ō Lane, Kīlauea Avenue, Hawai'i Kai Drive, etc). For street names, I think most people would consider their spellings on street signs (if done consistently) to be common usage. 07:25, 14 January 2020 (UTC)

Would that apply to highway signs that list the name of a place and the distance left before you reach it?

There are also welcome signs to some of these towns that have their respective town’s name spelled “correctly”, does that also count as common usage?

Generally speaking, just use the spelling that's commonly (i.e., usually) used when writing in English. (For U.S. towns, especially, if the lead sentence describes them as "census-designated place", then it seems reasonable to rely on the spelling that the U.S. Census Bureau actually uses.) The Hawaii manual of style says this in the “Census Data” section: “ Census Bureau policy in 2000 and earlier did not allow special characters in Hawaiian place names. Place names for the 2000 census were submitted by state officials in 1998, before the GNIS was updated to include the marks. This restriction was rescinded for the 2010 census. The United States Census Bureau attempted to have the CDP and GNIS names agree as much as possible for the 2010 census. The Hawaii Board on Geographical Names, under the Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism, has been working with USGS to use special characters in place names as appropriate.” Does this mean I just use the GNIS spellings? Because even if they didn’t use some of the GNIS spellings in 2010, the next census is this year and they should be using the “corrected” spellings this census. Once again, for the names of towns, Wikipedia should just be using the spellings that are commonly (i.e., usually) used when writing in English (but note native-language spellings if different). Why is this such a personal obsession for you? Once again: Please stop using Wikipedia to try to advance some personal agenda. I was only making sure. All I thought I was doing was updating the spellings since they are now phasing out signs and other things that have the old spellings on them for ones with the new spellings. Apparently that's in conflict with some rules here which I'm okay with and I will do my best to follow them from now on but I was never trying to advance an "agenda." I was only trying to help...
