Patty

I recently made some changes to a page which you did not accept. I would just like to say that the information i altered was 100% correct. I live in Kingston upon Hull and have been in the patty business for many years and when i read the page i felt it needed correcting as some of the information was wrong, and will remain wrong if the page is not altered. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.41.251.240 (talk) 23:24, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Facts need to be verifiable. Please read this introduction. Thanks,  Yinta 23:31, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Yintan

You have removed my comment based on missing citation. I currently dont have one but it based on this blog link that i had attached. The relevant information is in the blog. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 14.96.197.132 (talk) 10:03, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. A personal blog is not considered a reliable source. There's more info on sources at WP:VERIFY. Cheers,  Yinta 10:06, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Yintan!

Hello there, You just undo one edit on the page International University of Struga based on copyright from the official website. I am an official representative of the university and we are making changes to the wikipedia site since it had very little information about the University. Please tell me what do i need to do for the changes to be allowed. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iustruga (talkcontribs) 10:14, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

In short: you have to rewrite it (see WP:COPYVIO and WP:COPYPASTE), unless the University is willing to donate the text to Wikipedia (see WP:DCP). Cheers,  Yinta 10:19, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there Yintan,

New to Wikipedia edits (my 1st one) - and I was advised by a colleague here that where Suma had a hyperlink on the worker co-op page - we didn't - so I added one.. Didn't realize the etiquette of the pages - presumably we have to put up a whole page, dedicated to Essential (as correctly stated, the 2nd largest worker co-op in the UK) - as Suma have done, to enable this to work.. Am I correct in this thinking?

All the best,

Phil. (I work for EssentialTrading - as inferred!) 81.137.25.205 (talk) 12:43, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Phil.
In short; yes. Wikipedia's policy for external links is here: WP:EL. In general, links to the official sites of co-ops, companies, bands, corporations, etc, are only added to an article about that particular co-op, company, etc, but not to articles that describe its field of work. (Otherwise the car article would accumulate links to every car manufacturer in the world ). Cheers,  Yinta 12:49, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Computer Vision Syndrome

Hi Yintin,

I have just created an account to clarify a recent edit that you deleted. The recent edit I made was within the following page: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Computer_vision_syndrome#External_links

You replied stating that the infographic was inappropriate. Are you able to provide additional details and recommendations when adding external links. So what are the guidelines, for example.

I apologise if this is not the appropriate location to contact you. If you require additional details regarding the topic in questions please let me know.

Regards, Cindy — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cindygrant (talkcontribs) 15:18, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Cindy
Wikipedia's guidelines for external links are at WP:EL. Cheers,  Yinta 20:56, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Skokie

Hi. My mother is a longtime skokie resident, and she is the one who pointed out that in her understanding, Skokie comes from the native american word for swamp. She wanted to get it changed on wikipedia and didn't know how. I made the edit, which was removed for lack of citation. I found the following information with citations, but I do not have time or familiarity to put it into wikipedia citation form. Thanks for your assistance

- - - in Skokie History FAQs

http://skokienet.org/community/cats/history/rjwname.html

By Richard J. Witry

"The name 'Skokey Marsh' appears on General William F. Hull' s map of 1812.

Most of these marshes were drained in the 1930's and low ground filled in to form the present Skokie Lagoons Forest Preserve.

Some writers have associated this name with the Mascouten or Maskouten Indians, whose name has sometimes been translated 'people of fire'.

Others have taken it directly from 'sloutay' or 'scoti' and variant Algonquian words for fire. The reference is to the fact that the marshy grasslands, such as occurred in the Skokie region, were burned over by the Indians in order to flush out the game.

Several persons declare that 'Skokie' is the Indian word for marsh. Allowing for corruption, this seems correct. Until about thirty years ago, (ca. 1933 - ed.note) the Skokie marsh area was shown on maps as 'Chewab Skokie'. This is probably a derivation from 'kitchi-wap chkiku,' the Potawatomi term for a great marsh.

This explanation, though lacking documentation, is more credible because it is consistent with the former physiography of the area.

Hi. Even your own source says the explanation is "lacking documentation" and that's exactly the problem. Without a verifiable source it's not much more than a guess. More info on the subject at WP:SOURCE. Cheers,  Yinta 21:04, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Heh, I have just noticed, it is amazing how many vandals find you user and talk page, especially as your signature doesn't link to either! ·addshore· talk to me! 23:23, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Huh? My signature links to my Talkpage, always has.  Yinta 09:23, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, I noticed you've gone through my 'raving reviews' and removed some from the database. Pity, really. I liked them  Yinta 09:34, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Chick Corea

Hi Yintan, can't cite a source, but every musician I play that album to - and most have never heard of it - agree with my estimation. It's time for it to receive the recognition it deserves, even tho it was done 35 years ago — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.194.146.99 (talk) 11:46, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you can't cite a source the info can't be in Wikipedia, it's as simple (and sometimes frustrating) as that. Please read WP:SOURCE. Cheers,  Yinta 11:49, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Golden Groover

Hello Yintan, Nice to meet you, I am the founder, composer and producer of MASALADOSA and so trying to edit http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Masaladosa with more complete texts and updated informations (description, members updates...) what may I do to be clear with all that please ? I would also like to add some photo... Thank you for your help, Have a beautiful day — Preceding unsigned comment added by Golden Groover (talkcontribs) 12:42, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. A number of things come to mind. Please read WP:SOURCE and WP:NPOV, to make sure your future edits are neutral and sourced. A quick guide to adding photographs is here[1]. Cheers,  Yinta 12:49, 12 June 2013 (UTC) (PS: please sign your posts WP:SIGHOW.)[reply]

!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Yintan, how did you get so much vandalism on your user page and talk page? My talk page has only been vandalised 60-something times, but your pages get vandalised a few times everyday! Arctic Kangaroo () 13:06, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What can I say? I'm a popular guy . The fact that some vandals think I'm Asian also attracts extra vandalism[2]. Anyway, I find their pathetic attempts at insulting me very amusing.  Yinta 13:15, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, because of some idiots who think your name is Yin Tan, right? Anyway, how did you gain your popularity among vandals, and which country ya from? Arctic Kangaroo () 14:22, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I guess I'm 'popular' because I annoy them. Where I'm from is not something I'm going to discuss here, sorry.  Yinta 14:28, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm guessing Greece. ☯ Bonkers The Clown \(^_^)/ Nonsensical Babble14:35, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
He's in Greece, but if I didn't remember wrongly, he said that he "shifted country". Arctic Kangaroo () 14:42, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Correct. Right now I'm in Greece but I'm not from Greece.  Yinta 14:49, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, so I recall reading too. If you're not Asian that eliminates many countries. Wait... Are you even human? Lol. ☯ Bonkers The Clown \(^_^)/ Nonsensical Babble14:52, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've only got one thing to say to that: meow.  Yinta 15:22, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Bob Tur

Bob Tur was interviewed by Harvey Levin on TMZ and TMZ.com, and also his old radio station, KNX 1070 AM in Los Angeles. He announced he is undergoing hormone replacement therapy, and transgender transforming into a woman to be named Zoe Tur. I have known bob personally for over 40 years. I'm not being unconstructive, it's simply a major change to his lifestory. it's all over his facebook page, www.facebook.com/robert.tur. Confirm it yourself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.104.218.223 (talk) 22:19, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, that's not how it works. Please check out WP:SOURCE for more info on verifiable sources and adding them to articles. Thanks,  Yinta 22:21, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

2100 digital error unconstructive?

Dricherby deleted the explanation about possible century year errors on the leap year bug article because they thought this would not be right since this is in 87 years time, this is why I posted this explanation on the 2100s (decade) page.109.151.60.152 (talk) 11:56, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Your explanation is an unsourced assumption, not a verifiable fact. That's why I reverted your edit[3]. Cheers,  Yinta 12:11, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I deleted the claim at Leap year bug because it is completely unverifiable speculation. The overwhelming majority of software that will be in use in 2100 hasn't even been written yet. All information on Wikipedia must be verifiable: this is a core Wikipedia policy. Things that are not verifiable do not belong on any page. Dricherby (talk) 12:38, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
"The overwhelming majority of software that will be in use in 2100 hasn't even been written yet"? That is completely unverifiable speculation.  Yinta 12:46, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Touché. Good job the person who wants to add the material has the burden of proof! Dricherby (talk) 12:58, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Africans in Ireland

I told the truth how most of the Africans came to Ireland during the Irish boom of 1992 2007 and before I told how olaudah equiano didn't live in Belfast according to your own Wikipedia page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.149.252.83 (talk) 12:41, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your addition broke the layout of the page and was also unsourced. That's why I reverted it. Please check out WP:SOURCE. Thanks,  Yinta 12:44, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

hi, you said my view on parton is less than neutral, this is terrible for you to say this, i am 21 years old and i was born in parton and i have been raised there all my life, there is no one better suited to list the decline of this beautiful hamlet, i have made many edits to pages on wiki and also have made donations, this will cease , i will never edit, or donate to wiki again, i am fully outraged at this. i will still use your page but i will asking my friends and family not to donate. you do not need to take any action to this message. as i will not be doing any u-turns. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.102.92.146 (talk) 13:10, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"This small hamlet is now in despair, as drugs and violence reign over civility, the once quite little hamlet is now alive with fear and retribution"[4]. Are you telling me that's a neutral, balanced viewpoint? Please read WP:NPOV and WP:SOURCE. Thanks.  Yinta 13:16, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You undid a revert I did to get rid of vandalism, and warned me about it

Pretty much what the subject says. You reverted a revert of mine I did to remove vandalism (unsourced and very inappropriate information), and you even gave me a warning about it. Did you make a mistake here? Your revert restored the vandalism, which I undid. Just curious to see what this is about. Thanks. Lugia2453 (talk) 21:34, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

(Talk page stalker) Looks like a Huggle hiccup to me. That happened to me a few times a long time ago. - Amaury (talk) 21:38, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You're right, it's very strange. The only thing I can think of is that my Huggle was lagging when we both jumped on the IP's vandalism. Weird... (Which is also why I "even" warned you about it. As you know reversing and warning is all in one mouse click.)  Yinta 21:39, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Aubert de Villaine

I wrongly thought that the Article http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Aubert_de_Villaine used an INCORRECT spelling for Aubert de Villaine. But you are right, this is spelled with 2 Ls (I should have known, I had lunch with the guy last Saturday!)

Thanks for avoiding me to make and propagate a common error (Here in France, most people misspell de Villaine with a single L and I got caught myself!)

HI yintan

You removed an addition for the social login external links page. I added "gigya.com" to the external links as its relavent. Why do other links like "janrain.com" get to stay and my addition does not? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.12.252.67 (talk) 23:12, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

After removing gigya, I removed the other links too, per WP:EL. I'm not picking on you  Yinta 23:17, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
